The recipe I'm looking for is baked and has eggs and bread crumbs, I think. Like the mac n cheese we got in elem school back in the dark ages.

Use this recipe. Where it says "top with additional cheese", top it with bread crumbs instead.

A can of italian-flavored bread crumbs are good. You could toast bread in your toaster or oven, then put it in a food processor and season it with salt and pepper or your own favorite seasonings, then process it.

It's pretty simple to make. Boil your plain macaroni as directed. Cube a block or two of cheddar cheese (or any flavor cheese you'd like)- about 1 cheese block per 3 cups of cooked macaroni. Pour in some milk (about 1 cup per 3 cups of cooked macaroni). Stir in some butter (about 1/2 cup per 3 cups of cooked macaroni) & bake in a 9x13 baking dish until cheese is melted. Sprinkle the top with additional cheese if you'd like.

Macaroni and Cheese

1 lb. box elbow macaroni
1 lb. mild Cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 c. margarine, melted
6 eggs
2 13-oz. cans evaporated milk
salt and pepper to taste

Cook macaroni in boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain well and dump into a big bowl. Add grated cheese, reserving 1/2 c. to sprinkle on top. Stir in cheese until melted. Stir in margarine and eggs; stir well to distribute evenly. Add milk. Mixture will be fairly liquid. Pour into 13x9" pan, sprinkle with reserved cheese on top. Bake at 350F, for 45 minutes, until set. Serves 8.

Note: I cut the recipe in half for my smaller family, and it was worked out well…never have leftovers.

Yes, boil however much macaroni you want, when macaroni is done, drain water. Add 3 to 4 slices of American cheese, a little milk and a T of butter. Heat til cheese melts.

You boil some noodles and melt some cheese over top of it. This isn't rocket science you know, its Mac and Cheese.
