I suffer from frequent sinus infections in the (dry) winter months, and I find that a good curry will clear my sinuses in a day. But I want to cook at home rather than eating out all the time. All the home-cooking hot sauce and curry preparations I've tried so far burn my mouth and sometimes even my tongue (much more than the sweat-inducing Chinese curry I ate last night!) -- but they don't make me sweat! What's the magic ingredient I'm missing? If you can provide references to any articles about this, I'd be very grateful....

I steamed mine for a while, then wrapped the six-packs in foil and put in a hot oven. Will that work? Should I turn the foil packets over after a number of minutes in the oven?

As of today, mine is a non-fat green tea latte, hot. That could change by next week, however.

Can I use cornstarch instead? Recipe calls for 4Tbs. flour. How much cornstarch would I use?
Recipe calls for whisking 4 Tbs. all-purp flour into 4Tbs. melted butter. Then adding heavy cream.

Thanx!!

Many of us have probably noticed that food items such as Heinz tomato Ketchup contains an ingredient called 'spirit Vinegar'.

In the past they never said what type of vinegar, and all it said as i recall on the ingredients list is that it contains 'vinegar'.

After the limited research I did online, I found that spirit vinegar contains a small amount of alcohol in it, hence 'spirit' vinegar!

has any body been able to find anything reliable that states that it is halal or haram?
I did find many islamic website that say it is halal, but that doesnt seem to enough to convince me

what do you guys do when it comes to food with spirit vinegar?

I just finished reading and commenting on this Yahoo! Health article: http://health.yahoo.com/experts/weightkoch/8674/end-of-a-childhood-ritual;_ylt=Atjwr9ovN.uObdlCT2ZZTfIT08gF
where the writer explicitly states that she happily consumed cookie dough as a child but with the ONE in TEN-THOUSAND risk of an egg being contaminated with salmonella, she has stopped doing it for her and her kids.

I myself find it ridiculous that the 1 in 10,000 risk will prevent someone from eating raw eggs. You have the same risk (assuming your cookie dough is made with two eggs) of dying from electrocution.

In fact you have a 1 in 300 chance of being the victim of a homicide, but you still walk down your city street.

You even have a 1 in 100 chance of dying from a car accident, but you still get in your car...

Well I've had my say... what do you think?

I have a jar of white cake frosting left over from a Christmas craft at school. I'd like to use it this weekend, but I don't want to make a cake. What are some other uses for cake frosting? Keep in mind that I am NOT good at baking, so it needs to be relatively simple. I've burned water before.
