I steamed mine for a while, then wrapped the six-packs in foil and put in a hot oven. Will that work? Should I turn the foil packets over after a number of minutes in the oven?

Saul,

Poisoning someone is not the issue. Everything is thoroughly cooked, but best method of cooking for taste is the issue. :-(

Only steam them- besides, why waste all that hard work to make your masa come out tough by cooking it in the oven? Good tamales are spongy in texture and light and fluffy. You can only acheive this with fresh ingredients in the masa dough followed by proper steaming!

Once they're cooked you can freeze them. Then wrap one tightly in Saran Wrap and microwave til heated through. It effectively re-steams them in no time just before you eat them, making them great to take to work!

foil??? hmmm...sounds more like a turnover or something, because I am making Tamales right this minute for Christmas, and the thought of using foil is absurd!!! you need to use corn husks that have been soaked for hours to soften!! and then yes you HAVE to steam them

Nope. The old way is the ONLY way. Don't start trying to get modern on us. You can make yourself and others sick for not cooking them properly.
