Me and fiance have about 300 people who want to attend our wedding but our receptioin will feed 150. We want to invite people to the wedding still but let them know we cannot feed everyone at the reception. Alot of these people are work associates whom we do not see outside of work. We were thinking about adding a response card that says thank you for attending our wedding----- reception is private.

I just got married 07-07-07 and I wanted to send out my thank you notes this week, is it rude not to send thank you notes to the freeloaders who came to eat, drink and party and didn't even show up with a gift?!

I'm the Matron of Honor in my best friend's wedding. I'm on a very tight budget but am responsible for hosting a shower. I also live 3 hours away so renting a place and paying for food gets a little pricey. Is it ok to ask the other bridesmaids to pitch in for the cost?

My fiance wants a small fireworks show for after the reception. Just some to go off (not even the ones that go hundreds of feet in the air) and add a sparkle to the night as we leave the reception. Are fireworks at weddings tacky or somehow impolite to the guests with children?

Just to be certain, this is my fiancee's account and I'm stealing it to get some advice. =)

Anywaysss, my boyfriend and I are getting married, and I'm having trouble picking out colors for the wedding. We're getting married in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens while the cherry blossoms are blooming, so needless to say, there will be a LOT of pink! We really liked the cherry blossoms theme, so we're incorporating it into our wedding. But I don't know what to use with it. I was thinking blue, but that's too "baby shower-ish" in my opinion. And many people have said pink and brown, or pink and chocolate, but that's just not me.

So, can anyone help me out? I want a main color, with a light pink as an accent. Thanks in advance! o^-^o

I'm getting married August 10, 2008 and I am having a really small wedding...15 people as far as I know right now that includes guest and wedding party. My family and my fiance's family aren't going because of racial issues....(I'm not giving up happiness because of their stupidity) Anyway I want a wedding cake and the whole first dance as husband and wife and a sit down dinner but would that be a stupid thing. I live in Michigan (Saginaw, Bay City area). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The bride selected a backless, plunging v-neck halter for the bridemaids to wear in her October wedding. I am mortified and dreading even being seen in public in it much less walking down the aisle in front of so many people. Why would she do this? The other girls seem to like it and the bride is the type who will hate me if I say anything. It's not worth it. Does she really want everyone to look bad on purpose?

At a recent wedding my fiance and I were attending, we made friends with a really cool couple. We've hung out with them twice since and really hit it off. Should we offer them a last minute invite to our wedding?

(Note we are fine on counts. We don't NEED more guests, and we know they aren't expecting an invite. But, we are on the fence about whether or not we should invite them)

We will be getting married in Monterey, CA int he old historic district. We came across these bikes called surreys last time we were down there....

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11418548/Surrey_Family_Pedal_Bicycle___Seats_5.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.alibaba.com/catalog/11418548/Surrey_Family_Pedal_Bicycle_Seats_5.html&h=341&w=400&sz=31&hl=en&start=11&tbnid=UZPO6LQxIycLbM:&tbnh=106&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsurrey%26gbv%3D2%26ndsp%3D18%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN

My idea is to have each couple in the bridal party (3 girls, 3 guys) and me and my groom ride in to the reception on the surreys as an interesting way to introduce ourselves as the married couple...

The reception is in an old walled in adobe garden and we would enter in through the large wrough iron gates. Thoughts? Fun? Stupid?

I'm from the South and am part Creole, therefore I want to carry on the tradition of the Money Dance. Because many couples couldn't afford to take a honeymoon, it's commonly believed that guests would basically "pay" to dance with the bride and groom. This is not the case. A guest could dance with the bride or groom without giving them cash, but a donation to be pinned to her veil or his lapel was greatly appreciated.
To make things a bit less tacky, I'm the only one who gets paid for the dance, and I will be holding a money purse for the collection. Plus, I ultimately don't find the tradition to be tacky at all based on my family. Some members will only attend out of familial obligation, because not showing up would put them in a bad light with those that are mutually close to the bride/groom and the mentioned family member. And even if I managed to get every member of my family to come, maybe 10-20% would actually bring a gift!

But he also has been telling me that all his relationships in the past fall apart after two years & all his friends have waited 3 or 4 years, he is almost 30 and I am almost 25. I know he loves me more than anything I just don't understand why he wants to wait, does this mean he doesn't really want to marry me? We have been living together for a year and just bought the condo we live in. Everyone tells me his friends included how much he loves me and how perfect we are together, he even tells me that along with that he wants to be with me forever and he never wants me to let him go. He says our relationship is so much different than his other ones, in a good way he loves me in such a different way and has a ton of fun with me. Am I waiting around for nothing ?

I have been dating my boyfriend/fiance for 3 1/2 years! When we first started to date we knew we would always be together, however, we would not be able to get married due to his legal status. I was told by my attorney that it would be harder to be able to get him a visa if we wed first. Despite all of the legal issues, we went a head with our llives.....we live together as a serious and committed couple and have a beautiful daughter together.
I have always wanted to marry him, and now we are planning or wedding. I of course want it somewhat big. You know, the typical ceremony and reception. My mother has said that it is a waste of money and I should get married in my church and have a little party with cake and punch in the church hall......Although this wedding is more to me then just marriage, it signify s the official joining of two people in holy matrimony and the start of a new life with the same man and daughter!!!

Okay...I have a huge dilemma! My fiance's step mother was in charge of making our invitations and now we are only about 3 weeks away from our August 4th wedding date. She still hasn't mailed our invitations to us...We are both very stressed about this and I don't have any idea how to handle it. It is to the point where him and I are arguing horribly about this now and I don't think I can handle much more without having a breakdown. Can any of you offer any constructive advice? Serious answers only please! I'm about to lose my mind so if anybody can come up with SOMETHING I would appreciate it. Also, it's too late for us to order anything. I need a quick fix for this. Am I just overreacting?

I am a part of my friends wedding, and though I'm not maid of honor, I feel like I'm the only one doing any real work for her special day. Nobody else is doing hardly anything! I feel overworked and underappritiated. I don't know how to tell her this, and I also don't know how to ask the other girls to step up.

My best friend is getting married in a few weeks. I'm one of the bride's maids. We've planned a sexy bachelorette party for her.
She is a little shy (a lot) and a V... She have been asking lately about erotic toys. I would like to give her a very special gift. I was thinking about a erotic kit. Try to put together some toys and things like that (maybe mild erotic things) so they can have some extra-fun on their honeymoon. I didn't think about this before but now that she ask for some ideas but to shy to go "shopping"....
What could i include into this kit to spice things a little bit!

Hiya

I'm doing some sociology coursework on the 'white wedding' and would like to know from those of you who are married or are planning on marrying whether:

a) you include these traditions (such as the white dress) for religious reasons?

b) you had/are having a white wedding because this is the style you prefer?

c) if the traditions have personal meaning to you rather than religious reasons?

d) if money is an issue when planning a wedding and whether this determines the type of wedding you have?

e) why you have chosen to get married - for religion, the party or other reasons?

Thank you for helping

Jess xx

I'm going shopping this evening for a dress to wear to a wedding on Saturday. It's an afternoon wedding.

Which of these styles/colors would be most appropriate? (I probably won't end up with these exact dresses, but I'm just wanting a general idea of what to get.)

I already know both solid white and black should be avoided.
