Alrite, we already decide we want a buffet w/ servers and have a roll-around bar, to save on costs. But I'm still kind of in a rut about how i would like our wedding to look.

My husband and I got married this past April and the total cost of the wedding was around $9,000 but if I told anyone that they would never believe it. Our wedding was beautiful and we recived so many compliments on everything. You just need to know where to cut back and how to cut back. I have much advice for you.

First - the food - order it from a local resturant ( we did a lovley italian place) , have it delivered and set up as a buffet and have guests serve themselves. They will like picking what they want and how much they want and you dont have to spend tons of money on caterers and servers. I only spent about $900 on food for 100 people and everyone loved it, plus I had leftovers.

For favors we did a candy buffet. Basically a do - it - yourself candy table. We took glass jars and bowls and filled them up with all different kinds of candy, put scoopers in them - it looked like the old fashioned candy stores. We had a sign above the table that read " grab a bag, fill it up and Remember Love Is Sweet". We also Had beautiful pink bags with our names and wedding date on them and guets could make their own candy bag favor. THEY LOVED IT - honestly, I got so many compliments on this. The totla for the candy, bags and labels were around $250 and I had tons of candy leftover too.

Search for cheap Limos and DJ's - they are out there, you just have to call around A Lot !!!

If you need any more advice I would be happy to help :)

A way to save a few thousand dollars is to jsut have the reception. Don't buy into that huge fancy high-priced wedding. Just get a nice dress that you like have groom dress nice, and do a little tiny ceremony.

Just "elope" and spend your money on just a reception to celebrate your marriage with family and friends.

For my wedding in a few months, I am having it on the beach behind a beach cottage that belongs to a friend. We saved 2,000 dollars on not paying for the place of ceremony(behind cottage on beach), and saved money on reception site (in the cottage itself).
We have found deals on ebay for wedding items, and I made cute, but nice invites myself:) I also got a cute destination wedding dress for less than $200 by getting a cute vanilla color bridesmaid dress and used it for a bride dress.
There are a lot of ways to save on a wedding and it still be nice:)

Check out "Swept Away" in Jamaica, you could get married there and have your honeymoon combined if you're looking for a destination wedding. And family and friends could throw a reception for you upon your return:)

i am planning an outdoor ceremony at a local park.
reception to follow at the firehouse that my bf belongs to, they have a banquet hall.
buffet dinner. open bar. we get a deal cus he's a member.
dresses are all coming from ebay seller in china who's making them based on our measurements. shipping combined too.
guys are all wearing tan pants and white linen.
guests are advised it's a casual dress wedding. just dress appropriatly.

i plan to call the local college to see if i can hire a photography student for the day to do our pics.
i'm plan to call the tech college to see if i can get a pastry chef in training to make my cake.

i found online, brain fart the name of the site, those shallow glass bowls, but i'm doing those with flat marbles on the bottom with candles floating in the water.

to start... think of what you love.. think of what brought you two together.. and then go from there...

find your colors and a theme... save stuff that you like.. find something on the net print it and save it.. find a page out of a mag that has something that catches your eye.. save the page.... And once a month go through it and get rid of what you dont like any more.. till you get what you like and want..

then look for low cost ways of doing it.. google directions on how to make things..

look at your local $ stores you will be amazed at what you can find..

in all I did my wedding for well under $2,000

look on these sites..

So go to theknot.com and do some reading there.

I wouldn't get too locked in to a certain look just yet. Styles change. Wait until it gets closer to your actual wedding date before making final decisions.
