Weddings - July 2007

My fiance and I are due to get married in five weeks. In the four years we have been together our relationship has had some stormy moments but lately we seem to be arguing most of the time. Each time we argue he calls the wedding off, only for it to be back on a day or so later.

His brother (the Best Man) and I do not get along at all and I know he is against the wedding. I fear he is trying to get him to cancel it.

I am now worried that my fiance wont turn up on the big day or he is only going through with it to save the embarrassment of calling it off. What should I do?

I'm looking for a recommendation from someone who has used a wedding planning book that they LOVED. I am getting married in about 1.5 - 2 years, and I want to use the perfect wedding planning book. Possibly something geared toward average-sized weddings in small towns.

I did!!!! My fiance and I eloped on 7/7/07 and was married at 7:00 p.m.

My fiancé wants to invite her ex to our wedding. I have made it very clear that I am not comfortable with this. Anytime I bring it up it ends up being a fight and I end up giving in and saying that I will get over it. The problem is that I don't get over it. It really bothers me that him being there is more important to her than me being uncomfortable on my wedding day. She says that she can’t be friends with him and his wife and not ask them to our wedding. That by asking her not to invite him I am asking her to cut all ties with him and anyone that knows him. That is not what I am asking. I just don’t want him at my wedding. I am fine with them being friends I just don’t want to be reminded on that day that she was ever in love with someone else. I want to be thinking only of her and how lucky I am to be marrying her.

I was in a relationship with my fiance (now my ex) for over 5 years. We were supposed to be getting married in 2 months. 6 weeks ago, he called off our wedding due to the fact that he has been seeing a married woman for the past 2 months and "is in love with her". I have cancelled everything (caterer, reception hall, dj, etc), however many of these places will not return my deposits. Also, the cost of my bridal gown and the bridesmaid dresses which I had to pay for because they were ordered months ago. I paid for the majority of the items myself, although he did pay a few hundred dollars. My question is, is there a way that I can make him pay me back for the money that I have lost due to his cancelling the wedding?

My future husband to be and I want to have a wedding away from it all and just the two of us. And it has to be on the beach. We found out about Sandals and have looked into it. They are expensive, but all inclusive. However we don't drink...so all the liqour included thing really is costing us money. Is there another hotel in the caribbean that does destination wedding/honeymoons that someone can recommend? Maybe even one that is all inclusive but has the option not to have liquor included? Thank you :)

My wedding ceremony was delayed by 2 hours. I feel so bad for my guests who were gracious enough to wait around for me. Everything just went completely wrong that day. I had no music, no cake and the hairdress double booked my appointment. Most of our family showed up late as well. Some were even responsible for bringing items for and/or coordinating certain parts of the reception and did not show up. Those who did though were very understanding and helped out when the time became necessary.
I would like to send each guest a personalized magnet with our wedding picture and have considered sending an apology letter for the delay in the event and so on. I am not sure if this is appropriate.
Should I send them a simple thank you note and not mention anything about the disaster that occured on my wedding day or should I send an apology letter also thanking the guest for their attendance at the ceremony and reception?

Ok, my SIL is getting married in Mexico and we can't afford $2000 (this is just for plane tickets) for a weekend to Mexico and the drive is too far for us to go with our 1 and 3yr old......again, just for the weekend. We live in NW IN. Ok, so I keep telling my MIL that we just can't afford to go and my huabnd is mad that they are even getting married in Mexico and didn't offer to pay since we have had financial probs, almost got a divorce 2yrs ago and I am not working..........so it is really annoying us that my mil keeps bugging us about it. I just want to slap her and yell "WE DON"T HAVE MONEY!!!!!!" I mean if we did, of course we would go but we are broke but Saturday was my SIL's bridal shower...........and again this the chorus of how WE HAVE to go cause its my husbands only sister blah blah blah....hey I am all about family and I am the first one to tell my hubby to go alone but he refuses........he says he won't go alone...so should I just ignore her? buts its very annoying!

So my soon to be sister in law is getting married in sept! I bought her all 8 piece place settings of china of her registry! I want to give her a personal gift as well but i dont know what to get her because we are not very close in fact i made her cry last week about how inconciterate she is of others financials! Okay, I have been having an affair for the last 9 months with someone I got to love dearly. My husband is the sweetest man and he has done everything for me. He has been there for me and my family. The thing is before I started the affair I asked my husband that, " I do not want to be married to him anymore but he insisted we work it out. He has put his whole life aside 10 years to protect me and do everything for me. I really want like this other man like I love my husband but I am attched. I want to leave this other man because I want to be with my husband and make things work. The thing is my husband wants me to call this other man and end it in his presence, after that end it with him. He will turn around and cry in disbelief and than turn around and hold me tight and tells me he loves me. He was crying all night. He wants a divorce from me one minute and the next, he claims he loves me and he doesn't want to share me with another man. I was wrong.

But what kind of flowers (color and kind) so it would match the motif..

my bridesmaids are gonna wear red dress with gold accents like beads etc....and i would like their corsage to be of color somewhat golden (but no such thing except somewhat yellowish right?), i would like my boquet to be red flowers with gold accents..

i'm having a problem regarding the gold "flower" thing...red is so easy, i could have roses..

i want the isle to be white flowers (roses preferably) with gold and red accents too..maybe the laces could be gold and white right?
any ideas?

I am trying to pick a date to get married. Ever since I was little I have always wanted to get married the first Saturday in October. I think it is the most beautiful time of the year. So my problem is that the first Saturday of October this year is the 6th. My mom passed away on that same date in 2005. and I don't think my mom would care, she would want me to remember that date as a happy one and not a sad one. Here's the problem, my fiance' doesn't have a problem with that date, he said it was totally up to me, whatever I thought was right. One of my three brothers, who would be given me away was very mad about me choosing this date, even though he didn't even care for our mother while she was sick. Should I sick to my guns and keep the date or give in and not cause any problems with my family. I really want all of my family there, and I don't know if he would get over this. Please help!!!

My friend is getting married at the end of this year and I am in the wedding party. The wedding has been called of 2-3 times already and then on again. I am against this wedding and really thought the last time it was cancelled it was for good. Unfortunately its back on again.
My question is how do I tell my friend that I'm still against the wedding, should I even tell her at all anymore? How can I be happy at a ceremony that I'm so against?

MY husband is horrid to me and I desperately want to leave him far far behind! But I m 14 weeks pregnant and cant seem to pull myself to do it! I'm 25, I have no job due to early pregnancy illness, no money, my husband controls my car, I dont want to break my religious mom's heart( I have only been married for 10 mo.), I have no where to go (my parents have no room for me). I dont know what to do! And I m desperately scared to be alone right now, I dont want to have this baby alone. I dont want the child to grow up without its parents being together, but I dont want it to see how my husband treats me either! Does anyone have any words of wisdom?
