1. Prioritize the top 3 things you want for your wedding day. For example if you've always dreamed of a wedding in a hotel ballroom than make that your priority. You should have what you've always dreamed of. Just understand with your budget you may spend Little more money on these items. But this will take away from other budgeted items like flowers etc.
2. Do research on sites like the knot.com , brides.com, marthastewartweddings.com. Cut out pictures of things you like, colors, flowers, cakes, etc. and keep them in a binder. Also go to a Home Depot or Paint Store. Pick up a few paint swatches and keep those in your binder, this is a free way to test out color combinations. This will help you narrow down you choices and help you figure out what your personal style is.
3. Details, Details, Details - What makes a wedding look designer/expensive is the smaller details. Pick a theme - it doesn't have to be crazy it can be just a color theme or maybe a theme that will complement your color theme. For example using a Monogram on things such as the favors, the cake, etc. This could be anything. A flower detail, round objects, square objects, crystals, etc. This will give you a tied in effect and everything will have a purpose and not look haphazard. If you look at celebrity weddings they all have some type of theme!
4. Think out of the box - sometimes thinking out of the box will lend you some great bargains. For example - purchasing a wedding gown from Target or getting a gown that is considered a prom gown or bridesmaid gown. With some of them all you have to do is add a veil and you would never know the difference and they cost alot cheaper than a regular gown.
5. Take on some wedding projects yourself like doing your favors or printing your programs or invitations. But don't be afraid to outsource these things to someone if you can't handle the project. Is more cost effective to have your invitation printed by a company or for you to do them yourself? After you purchase the envelopes, paperstock, plus shipping, ink, etc. would you be paying the same amount of money if you had them professionally printed?
6. Last tip- Keep It Simple! Simplistic designs are usually the most beautiful.
Good Luck with your planning!

Get a copy of Bride's Magazine or one of the other wedding mags out there. They will give you lots of ideas pictures of wedding gowns, hints on traditions and a lot of things that yu are going to need to know to plan your wedding. If you are also saving money to pay for the wedding you are not starting too early. Some reception halls are booked years in advance so early gives you a better chance to get the places you want ( church, reception hall or whereever the reception will be, get reservations for pictures at the botanical gardens or to be married on the beach etc.
You can always just go with a traditional wedding but if you choose to go for a theme it should be something about the two of you and your new life together, or perhaps something about how you met, or where he proposed or a first date might make for a good wedding theme. Some themes suggest colors but for July light colors would be cool but those are totally up to you, you can always fall back on the popular all White Wedding or you could do a Black and White wedding. You might want the colors of your birthstones or the flowers of the months when you were each born. I hope this helps you out, Congratulations and Best of Luck

It's awful early to be worrying about something 2 years away. Calm down. You have plenty of time. For colors, stay away from jewel tones in the summer like red, blue, green. Those are for fall. Your best bet for summer are pale, light pastel colors like pink, sage, lavender, yellow, peach. Unless the wedding is after 5pm I would not have black bridesmaid dresses. That seems to be common nowadays and doesn't look appropriate. Start looking for your dress at least 18 months before since you have such a long time. I've never been to a wedding that had a "theme" before. Just choosing a few colors to carry through the day is plenty. Depending on where you live, don't have it outside in July! Too many brides forget about the guests and how unbearable it is too be hot and sticky all afternoon and evening. Good Luck.

With the wedding so far away, you can start doing some stuff, you have plenty of time.
The first thing you should do is to set a budget. With that budget in mind make a draft guest list, not the opposite.
Select your bridal party
Select a theme and colors.
Go to wedding shows to gather ideas
This is as far as you should go this early in the game. About six months for now you should:
Select your wedding party
Shop around for photographer, caterers, DJ, venues
A year out you should
Book the church and the venue
Book photografer, caterer, florist,etc.
6 months out you should
Shop for dresses
Shop for cake
Book your stylist
Choose invites
Send save the date cards
Good luck and congrats

My advice is to start planning the big things like where the ceremony is going to be and the reception is going to be... Choose your wedding party and possibly start lookking at photographers... the good ones book up relaly fast....I would sweat the small stuff for now... as you might change your mind in a year.... take your time and have fun planning.... i still have over a year and the only things i have done is MY dress, the reception site and the photograher... and we have chose and told our wedding party of the date... thats it.... i have ideas of the rest but im not planning it yet becuase i dont want to change my mind....

Since the wedding will be in July you might want to use colors that fit the month like bright colors. How about Blue? Like bright blues. The theme could really depend on whether its inside or outside I guess. How about really colorful flowers or like blue, white, yellow and another color?

well do you want bright vibrant colors or more of a pastel color...you deff want to go cheery colors seeing how its your wedding and its in the summer...what about a coral(orange/pinkish color), yellows are pretty, lavender....as to themes...where are you having your wedding? in a church...beach...your wedding dress should make you feel beautiful and comfortable at the same time...you are going to have a hard enough time trying to breathe already so you dont want a dress that will make it even harder!! =] just make sure what ever you decide that you feel beautiful...remember while it is the both of your guys's wedding..its mainly the girls day to shine!!! Congrats!!!!

have you ever considered having a peacock themed wedding ceremony as utilising the colours of a peacock? The vegetables, purples, blues. they are purely a eye-catching mixture. circulate onto Google and form in peacock themed weddings and take a glance. If no longer your cup of tea, how approximately gentle yellows, blues or perhaps purples.
