I've been friends with the groom for 5 years. We went to college together. When I found out he got engaged, I asked how long they had been dating, & his response was very matterthefactly "The same as you & Mitch (my bf)." We've met each other's significant others multiple times, but they honestly don't know each well, since we live in different states. The bride & groom's relationship is quite similiar to my bf & I since we started dating at the same time & the course of the relationships have both been over long distance. Groom in CA, bride & my bf in WI, & me in IL

I received a wedding invitation addressed just to me, & since it did not say "& Guest" I will not be bringing my boyfriend of 2 yrs along. I understand wedding etiquette & how expensive they can be, so am not taking it personally, but
1) Do I have a right to feel a bit snubbed?
2) In the event my bf & I get married (& it's going that route) will I be expected to invite this friend's new wife?

Was it what you wanted or better than what you wanted? Was the size correct?

If you had a choice, would you rather be surprised or choose the ring?

Three years ago in college my five friends and I all swore up and down we would be in each other's weddings as bridesmaids. This has held true for three weddings so far, and I am the fourth to get married. Our one friend who is unmarried and does not have a boyfriend has been gaining weight since the last year of college. She is no up to something like 180 pounds. She looks like Jabba the Hutt! The other friends put up with her in their weddings, when she jsut looked kind of fat. But now she is frickin obese. I don't want her in my wedding party, but we don't even ask each other, we just assume we are in the wedding. So, my question is I am annoucing my engagement at party this Saturday. I want the other girls in the party, but the fifth one, no way, no how. How do I do this without ticking her off. The other's understand, they know she's a whale. But she is also my friend, so I don't want to be mean. I jsut don't want her in the wedding.

This situation crossed my mind as I was reading answers to one of my other questions....
Some answers made mention of actually calling those who did not send back the rsvp.....

Is that actually appropriate and acceptable to CALL people about their rsvp?
Wouldn't that make some people feel kinda pressured or "put on the spot?" Wouldn't that make you kinda look like your "insistant" or something???
Just curious on what the majority thinks.....

We are considering planning our wedding for February 2008. Next year (2008) Valentine's Day will fall on a Thursday, so maybe the Saturday or Sunday before or after Valentine's Day would work. Have you read or heard anything about this being a particularly good or bad time to have a wedding? I was thinking maybe flowers, for example, could be more expensive because of the close proximity to the Valentine's Day rush, but I don't know for sure. We want to get married when it's still a comfortable temperature in Florida. Time is moving quickly so we need to pin down a set date soon! Thanks for your input.

how long they KNEW eachother
or solely how long they DATED eachother....

for instance...
if i have known her for over 2 years but have only dated her for one would you think at all about the one year of knowing and hanging out, getting to know her etc and her making her decison on dating you after that or simply look at the one year and think it was too short of a time...?????

thanks

I graduated college in 2006 and now live with my parents 6 hours away. My boyfriend and I have been dating since November 2004. We have a long distance relationship and I'm starting to get antsy about our situation. When we were together I never even thought about marriage, much less getting engaged - now that is all I think about and argue about. I feel like I need some sort of hope of marriage - because he's not graduating for another 2 years. He started late because he was in the military for 4 years. Previously married/divorced at a young age, I feel like he's scared to marry again. Even though he doesn't think so. I guess my question is...is it selfish for me to pressure him to get engaged when he's still working on school? He says he wants to be married before he goes to Grad school in 2009, however he has yet to propose. I know patience is a virtue, but I'm scared that I'm being strung along.

No Ebay, I already tried it twice and they both look like cheap pieces of crap from two different vendors.
I want ivory, elbow length and cover in high quality crystals.
I want really good quality, I am willing to pay for it but I though the one’s a David’s bridal were expensive and not that great.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Ok heres the idea my dress is red and my girls dresses are black. The groom is wearing a black Tux and the Grooms men are wearing white tuxes. Each of the girls bouquets will have their mask attached to it, that way then at the reception they can use there mask. The place i'm getting married at is a castle that is located Charlevoix, MI. The bridal party will be brought in on horse drawn carriages. My other question is do you think it would be ok to put on the invite that its a formal or semi formal affair and that they should rsvp? I just want this be great after its the last time i'll ever be getting married. Oh and also I was thinking that when everybody comes in for the reception handing them their own Mask after it is a masked ball.

My intended and I are secular, and our families come from two completely different religious traditions. As such, we plan to have our wedding at a religiously-neutral location, such as one of the many lovely parks or historic homes in our city. What type of person can officiate for us?

As a second option there is a 3pm elsewhere on a different date and location. The church is not my favorite though.

My father was an incredible dad until my parents got divorced when I was 18 so I don't want to leave him out or make him feel bad. But my step-father has really taken over the real role of father ever since... my fiance asked him permission to marry me and all....
and I love him... want to honor him but can't hurt my father.

Someone suggested having my father walk me halfway down the aisle and my step father finishing the walk... but I think that's too awkward and than my father doesn't give me away.

My fiance and I have already decided we are having two father daughter dances....

we thought about having my step-father escort my mother down the aisle right before the Man of Honor comes down... so they are more prominent....

any ideas?

We are getting married June 28th of 2008. We have been planning the wedding the past three months. We have already paid deposits on the church, caterer and the reception hall. He is the only child to his parents. His mom treats him as a mama's boy. I do not have my ring yet but will be getting it within the few weeks. He states he doesn't want to tell his family and friends until it is official with me having the engagement ring. Don't you think he would be excited to tell his family especially his mom? I even asked him during a conversation the other day is it because he mom would not approve of me ( i have only met her once at this past xmas) and he said that his mom has never quite approved of his past relationships. Does this kinda bring up a red flag that his mom dicates a lot in his life and could be hard to please and get along with? Plus I have asked him if his mom wants to look at dresses with me and etc.....He said she that she wouldn't be interested. :(

My husband got married at his folks historic home back in December. We had a beautiful, intimate, ceremony with a dinner following there at the estate. We only invited around 40 of our closest family and friends because we wanted a small, private, meaningful night. Everything went perfectly (cept for the preacher forgetting our names) and everyone was wonderful. However, over the next week as we started opening our gifts, we noticed most had no name tags. I blamed his mom and brothers for not being careful and getting things messed up. I was heartbroken because I had my thank you cards ready to go. But, then we realized that all the gifts without names were actually from his parents. It is no exaggeration to say that 70% of the people who attended our wedding showed up without a gift of any kind, and one couple, whose daughter was one of my flower girls, and I paid $350+ for her dress and accessories, only gave us a greeting card. Running out of room, so I'll continue below.

What do you do if your period is coming on the day of your wedding? Is there anything you can do to stop your period from coming on the day of your wedding? The groom said it's fine he just wants to have me as his wife and it doesn't matter if we don't consumate our wedding night on the wedding night. But i just feel bad, why did we (girls) have to have periods? Is there anything I can do to make this night special if it does come one the day of the wedding?

I want my dress to be as fresh and ready to go as possible. I heard that is should be like 2-3 weeks before, why is that? Does it even matter. Would a month out be too far? Need advice from those who have experienced, thanks.

I can't believe they cost like $30-50 for a freaken candle. I bought a plain white one for $3.99. How I can dress it up? I wanted to glue crystals to it but I didn't know how well that would work. What type of glue should I use on a candle? Or do you have other suggestions or pictures would be great!
Thanks
