My bride is very reserved and we aren't going to follow such a revealing tradition. I can imagine how embarrassing it will be for me to be lifting her dress in a crowd of people. We've had several suggestions from coworkers and family, but haven't found one that would suit us. She is still tossing a bouquet, and we want to find something comparable, or meaningful that the groom (me) can throw. These could be things that I could take off of her, or from her. Of course, these are also things which might bring luck to the single guy who catches it. Suggestions so far: my little black book (past girlfriends #'s, which I don't have), lady's handkerchief, baseball glove (?), her bracelet, her tiara, etc. Any ideas will be more than appreciated.

What's the average amount a couple would spend on an engagement ring, the women's wedding band, and the men's wedding band? Please give separate amounts, thank you :)

My wedding is on the first of January and I invited a few Jehovah Witnesses. Some are saying they can not come because it falls on a holiday. We are not celebrating New Years though, it just happens to be the day we decided to have our wedding. Our theme doesn't have anything to do with New Years. Some of the JWs are family.

My boyfriend and I have been going out for a year and a half we both are from the same race, religion and community. We both live here in the states and have known each other for 3 years prior to going out with each other. We have a awesome understanding of each other but i am an angry person. He loves his family way to much to leave them for me, but he really loves me from the bottom of his heart (and the love has proven itself). The problem is that his family wants to get him married arranged and the girl has to be from india. But we both love each other and dont know what to do. I am scared out of my mind, because i dont want to loose him but i dont know how to convince him to convince his parents and not take a "NO" for an answer. I love his family just like i love him, i am ready to accept whatever he wants him to do. But the problem is that how do we get his parents to agree to me???? any help here?? And this is ur typical "indian" love story!!!! THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

I'm working on a rough draft for my guest list. At what age do you start including children into the count? Surely you don't count toddlers, but do you count other young children?

I am in a wedding this weekend and wanted some really neat ideas for the bride and groom to give to them at the rehersal dinner. I know the bridal party gets their gifts during this time. No gift certificates or anything like that, some cool, unique, creative. Help!

We're taking our engagement photos next week and we have no idea what to wear. We don't want it to be too casual, but at the same time we don't want it to be too fancy...just fun, but stylish, ya know? HELP! Should we be matching (like white and white/black and black) or would that be too tacky?

I have never heard this until today...someone just mentioned that family is not supposed to throw a shower for the bride.

First question: Why not? I'm not sure I understand the logic, and would appreciate any input you can offer.

Second question: If the MOH is out of town and unable to plan the shower, is it really so bad if the bride's Grandmother and/or Aunt plan something? What if it's a joint effort? Who is the appropriate designee if the MOH can't do it?

Some of the things that WILL be different are: Instead of the paste like flowers, they will be real red roses and stephanotis, and there wont be hearts at the bottom & top, instead it will say Ashley & Chris 12-21-07... Or something like that.. No cake topper, just more flowers instead.
I think it will be a vanilla bean cake, rasberry filling and buttercream frosting..
What do you think? Any suggestions?

This is the design I have chosen for our wedding cake, it will be a pumkin spice cake with a caramel apple filling and cream cheese frosting under the fondant.

I was wondering what the best way to handle this would be. We have gone a more - non-traditional route for our wedding invites. They consist of 4 things - the one outside envelope, the response POSTCARD (we are doing a postcard instead of an actual card with envelope), the invitation and the directions/hotel card. We would like everyone to know that they can bring a guest if they would like, but are not sure where to put it. Should we put on the outside envelope - & Guest? Would that be inappropriate? Please help! All ideas are welcome!
THANKS!!!!

Ive already asked this question but want to clarify: My wedding colors are white and black with red accents. I am having a 3 tier fountain wedding cake with the two staircases down the sides to two smaller, 2 tier cakes. I have a white cake toppers (calla lillies inside a heart for the smaller cake and a white dancing couple for the larger cake). I don't want a complete black cake I'm worried itll be too dark or look gothic. So I thought a white cake but have a black lace design on it (so it looks like black lace is wrapped around the cake a little white will show but itll be mostly black), then some red flowers. (there will also be a ring of flowers around the cake.
Opinions or ideas please.
Clarification: BLack will b fondant, it doesnt stain, I want more black than white because my cake toppers r solid white. and I know it is a difficult design with the lace and everything, but a professional is doing my cake. (and its not solid black)
