I got married 6 years ago, my best friend was my Matron of Honor, and it's always been agreed I would be hers. Now, her wedding is in 8 months, and her Mom is trying to pressure her into having her cousin (who she's never been close to) instead of me. I have 2 sisters who were bridesmaids for me, but my friend was my matron on honor, they were fine with it. Her mom has now asked me to 'step down' so that 'family can be in their rightful place'! I'm angry, but I don't want my best friend getting upset over her wedding. What should I do?

We love each other and know that we will be together. He said that he would like to be proposed to which I would love to do, but would like a traditional proposal, with traditional wedding. I know its old fashioned, but would thats how I would like it!

Originally we were looking at this specific style of ring that I absolutely fell in love with but the ring was $48,000. There is no way we would have purchased that ring. My husband had our jeweler make a ring similar to the ring but not quite what I wanted. I fell in love with that ring as well. Recently, I lost one of the diamonds from my ring and we took it to be repaired. While we were there, my husband said to me, "Why don't we consider looking for another ring since this was not the original ring you wanted." I was reluctant but he found the exact ring we saw years ago (the $48,000 one) and it was about $12k. Of course the diamond wasn't perfect or as big but I loved the ring. Well recently my husband saw a documentary about how cheap diamonds really are and now he's reluctant to buy the ring. He's actually reluctant about buying anymore diamonds period. I don'tmean to sound shallow but I really love that ring. I was also planning to get him a new ring as well. What should I do?

Carter and I have been together for seven months. Everything was going great. We went to the same college together lived on campus so we spent a lot of time together. He proposed to me at the on the dock at the lake we came to so often to be at. He was always sending me cards or letters. He was so good to me and I love him very much. We could even read each others thoughts. So anyway, in June he was suppose to come for a week down at my house and we went to Florida to Walt Disney World for four of those days. When we got back to my house, that's when I noticed a huge change in him. I told him to be sure and call me when he got back home. It was like he was in a hurry to get out of Murray where I live. He quit calling me all together. When I would call him, he sounded different and seem to make excuses why he didn't call me and wouldn't want to talk very long. He went back to school because he has two weeks left.

Do I have to get two gifts- one for the wedding shower and one for the actual wedding or just one or the other? I have no idea. I've been to one wedding in my lifetime and I was only five so I didn't have to worry about it.

SERIOUSLY:
My brother has been trying to help us...and he found this preacher
I know what you're thinking being on "you tube"
(I hesitated to..) but there ARE some legit things on there!
He normally doesn't have much helpful to add, but w/ours being an outdoor/informal wedding, I think he'd be perfect....
what do you think?

In my readings, I have "discovered" that it is not appropriate to invite guests to the shower who have not been invited to the wedding. This is entirely understandable, and causes me no concern or problems. I'm just a little out of the loop on a few things, as the only shower I ever had was put on by my (ever so gracious) coworkers, none of whom were invited to the wedding.

At any rate...if this is the case, how do you justify asking the guests for two gifts? Won't they already be sending a wedding gift?

???

I need ideas for my December wedding. I'm thinking a deep deep red like a merlot or cranberry with a sage green? Yes/No? Any other ideas? It's going to be a Christmas-y theme but subtle...this is a wedding not a christmas party.

So, assuming that the shower will be hosted by the bridesmaids, but held at the home of the bride's grandmother (who is very gracious and has a lovely space for the event)...Who should greet the guests? Should it be one of the bridesmaids? The Grandmother? Another family member who will know all of the guests? What is the appropriate etiquette here?

Would you search the internet for a rabbi to officiate your wedding? Blessing your child for a baby naming? Teach your children the lessons to become a Bar and or Bat Mitzvah? Officiate an Unveiling at the grave of your dear loved one on or around the Jewish anniversary date? A funeral? http://www.jewish-wedding-rabbi.com (note: be respectful with your answers - I am a real rabbi)

My wedding is outdoors....so since I don't want to have my heels "sinking" into the ground NOR do I want to have a heel catch on a grassy patch and trip me up, I'd like to find a nice pair of white wedge heels.

Everything I find looks like a "beach" or "summer" shoe w/the brown/straw/hemp heel.
Anyone know where I can find some cute/dressy wedge heels?
(And also that won't cost MORE than my dress?)
THANKS!

For those that don't understand, BYU (my alma mater) happens to be coming to Pasadena to play UCLA on Sept. 8th. This rarely happens. My sister-in-law goes and schedules her wedding for then. I live in Burbank and was primed to do this before I got word that the "I do's" will be clashing with first downs. AAAAGGHHH!!

My wedding was horrible. I had so many problems that it was hard to focus on the real meaning of the wedding. There was a lot of bad things going on outside of the wedding and because of finances I had to do most of everthing myself including half of the catering. I paid for most of the wedding too. I was extremly stressed and wanted to cancel. Many people bailed on me. My husbands friends said some very unflattering things about me in front of several guests. These friends were all groomsmen. In almost the same breath the best man in his speech said wonderful things about me. At the time I thought he was sincere. My husbands ex-girlfriend confronted these friends at the wedding and they were unapologetic for their words. She told me fairly recently but made me promise I wouldn't tell anyone. In the meantime I made the best man godfather of my child. (I didn't know). One of these guys is getting married and I don't want to go. I am not sure I want them in my life or my child's.
