I'm getting married 12/21/07 and originally I wanted cool candle centerpieces, and now I'm not sure what I want. Our colors are red, white with accents of gold. Does anyone have any unique ideas and picture?
Thanks!!! :o)

Our flowers are red roses, green stuff & stephanitis(sp?)! I don't want any Holly. It's not really a "Christmas" theme either. I dunno... =/

Tall clear vases, filled half-way with cranberries and then put a gold or white taper in them.
OR
Trifle-bowls (bowl with a pedestal foot) of apples with gold silk ribbon entwined among them and greenery beneath them on white tablecloths --- can double as gifts to give to people who helped you out at the wedding, if you add a trifle recipe with your thank you note & have your mom pass them out at the end of the reception.
OR
Bundle tall twigs (6-8 feet) spray painted gold into red vase (or vise-versa, red twigs in gold vases, or white twigs in gold vases with a wide red ribbon tied around them.
OR
A large, single red rose in a tall bud vase set into a glass bowl that is partially filled with that white fake snow with a sprinkle of golden confetti on top.

Find tall clear glass cylinder vases, usually available thru Hobby Lobby, Michael's or even Walmart carries a good selection as times. Of course, google it! Fill the cylinders with cystal clear or red rocks or beads, make sure that the rocks/beads are not painted as they will bleed or peel with the water. Opt for glass ones. Or add a long tropical leaf (from the florist) that has a colored strip of red or yellow down the center and place inside the cylinder and fill with water.
Make a floral arrangement that will sit on the top of this cylinder vase.
Make an arrangement on a small plastic holder(sold at floral supplies) that holds a third of a wet foam. Make sure you tape the foam to the container with waterproof tape. Make an arrangement that is tall and sprays to the sides, fan like. Or round which ever is your preference. Use White Casablanca Lilies, Stephonotis, orchid sprays, Red orchids, Red Gingers, Red Madame Roses, Fire/Ice Roses, Ivory Roses, Red and/or White Anthriums for an exotic taste or Red Heliconias, White Spider Mums and add some sort of highlight of purple stattis or some small hints of yellow daisys as accent only or Green Ireland Paws for a contemporary look. Add Curly Willow, natural or painted Gold to give height to your arrangemnts. Add Green Leather Fern and Green Myrtle Fern as fillers. You may add Gold ribbon twists throughout for glitz or to save on flowers. Although, gold ribbon can run expensive too! Don't forget to spray your greenery with plant polish for shine, don't spray the flowers only the greenery! Add Rose petals around the Cylinder vase once it's placed on the table for a sweet flow. Or if you or anyone is not crafty in the floral dept. Take the idea to a florist! Congrats and Good Luck!

There are roses that are called "fire and ice roses."
the best i can describe them is
that the inside is red and the outside is white,
or that they are white with red tips. the pictures i have found online don't look anywhere near as cool as they look in person. Most people have never seen them. I have no idea where you live, or if they are easy to get there. bu tthey look really different and everybody will be talking about them.
You might search them out to see if you like them.
you should know, they don't have much of a rose smell, but they seem to dry on their own, without you doing anythng special, so you can save them.
Surely you could do something cool with these and something gold. How about playing with gold ribbon that has wire, so you can do fabulous bendy shapes interspersed between the rose centerpieces??

Have a high centerpiece with the flowers flowing down and colored crystals on wire floating out of the centerpiece. I would put the flowers in gold containers and accent with red and clear crystals.

My fiance and i are getting married 2 days after Thanksgiving, and our centerpieces are actually handing candle lanterns decorated with flowers and twigs. We're going to have them on some sort of height builder, so they'll be about 2 feet tall. It gives the whole place a whimsical, enchanted look.

I hate candles and they can be dangerous. Stick with the flowers. Have a high centerpiece with the flowers flowing down. Maybe have lots of ribbon with just a few flowers.

What about those very tall vases that flare out. Put some gold glitter or something gold that can float in there with some red water or clear and red and white flowers on top. I have also seen cranberries in vases with water for the red with white flowers on top.

Well, I think you need to ask how the flower is spelled. it sounds like it will be pretty, but I can't find it. Stephanitis happens to be a bug.
Try this centerpiece.

Use a Square Gold Vase instead of the white one.

I had a great centerpiece but the candles burned low and it went ablaze. I recommend staying away from candles on the actual centerpiece.

I'm getting married in November, and I'm not having flowers or candles. I'm having White Ostrich plumes in tall tapered vases instead. they are really quite beautiful. And for winter, they look so pretty. They are also cheaper than flowers, and you could sell them after you use them.
