Do I have to get two gifts- one for the wedding shower and one for the actual wedding or just one or the other? I have no idea. I've been to one wedding in my lifetime and I was only five so I didn't have to worry about it.

You are supposed to get a gift for each seperate event. The gift for the shower is something for the bride generally some lingerie or something nice like scented candles or something else she might like. The gift for the wedding is something that the new couple can use, generally something to help them set up house, thus the stories about getting 4 toasters. Check their registry to be sure not to duplicate, no registry( a list left at certain stores of gifts the couple would like to get and a check off of if an item has already be purchased by another guest) then take you best guess, or ask them.

Get two gifts. Don't think of it as too much. Simply split the money you had planned to spend. Spend 2/3rds or 3/4ths on the wedding gift and the smaller amount on the shower. Look for sale items.

Usually the shower is something maybe personal for the bride, it can even be something funny...lingerie or a book for keeping naughty hubby's in line.
Or if it is a traditional Kitchen shower, you get something small for the home. One bride I knew had a pantry party and we all bought stuff to help fill her pantry.
Photo frames would be a good idea or albums.
The wedding gift is the big one. I think the shower gifts are usually just tokens.

Etiquette says that in case you will the two the bridal bathe and the marriage, to grant 2 presents. One, frequently smaller or much cheap if given (and added in individual) to the bridal bathe. the different, the marriage present, is frequently the costlier one and is to be mailed to the bride's domicile in the past the marriage or if mailing after the marriage, to the place ever the couple specifies. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, many human beings do not follow this etiquette or funds is tight so they are in a position to in elementary terms supply one present, wherein case i'd advise calculating out how lots you're prepared to spend/how lots you may discover the money for and spend 25% of that quantity on the bridal bathe present and seventy 5% on the marriage present. back, this varies with how your individuals take care of weddings and in the event that they are prepared to p.c.. out 2 presents.

If you're a super close friend, I would get 2 presents but it doesn't mean you have to break the bank on the gifts. If you're not, then I would just buy a wedding gift only. If you plan on attending the bridal shower, you probably do need to bring something small however.

A wedding shower it is expected to bring a gift, as you "shower" the bride and groom with gifts.

A wedding you are not required to bring a gift, but you can bring one if you wish.

yes...

usually the wedding shower is a gift for the bride...

look at her gift registry, or get her something personal.

i got my friend a toaster for her wedding shower...

for their wedding, usually there is a box where you can put money, or you can get them another gift off the registry.

typically you get one gift for the bridal shower and then another one for the wedding.

the shower gift is typically less extravagant than the wedding gift.
