hubby and i have been married civil with only 3 witness (my parents and brother) before so we just decided a small wedding in church this time.. we have around 20 guests, (4 kids and 16 adults) mostly my husband's family.. i dont want them to be boring in the reception, what kind of entertainment shall we present to them so it wont be about only eating and talking... we have ruled out the band or musician since they are expensive to hire here... i really want this to be memorable one for all of us.. thanks a lot for the future feedback...

most of the guest (his uncles and aunts) are 50 years old and above, and the rest in their late 30's ....hiring a musician band here in norway is pretty expensive and we really need to take care of our budget since the reception hall we plan to rent in one day is quite expensive too...

one of my guests made a powerpoint presentation on the two of us growing up and meeting each other. it was SO funny how she did it. it was romantic for the most part, but the end was great. it had a picture of us getting married (she just slapped the pic on there, she left an empty space) But i had a picture of my bf (husband now) with his head in his hands with the caption WHAT HAVE I DONE?! it was really nice to show people how we met, those who only knew one us got a chance to know the other a little better.
i would have some light background music playing during the eating part of the reception.
perhaps you could ask your guests to tell a funny (but tasteful story about the two of you. i would ask before hand so no one talks about something that will make momma go 0_o.
we did not have any dancing at our wedding reception and people stayed longer because of it. my church does not believe in dancing ( i mean, i am okay with it, it is just the simple fact that i suck at it). they left early at another church members weddings because of the dancing. so i felt it was better not to have any and all went smooth.

You guys could play some games. At my Aunt's bridal shower they had a little "How well do you know the bride and groom?" quiz, with potted plants for the top five winners. Also, if you're not having a band or musician, you could just play some music from a CD player using CD's you already have (guaranteed to be something you like!). You could also put together a slideshow of pictures of you and your husband together and with family members, and play it on a TV or computer.

Maybe you could get a CD player that will hold 5 or 6. That way you can choose what kind of music to use, and have it for background music. Nothing loud. Most people do have a
DJ for the reception, so I don't know what else to tell you. You could put up a collage of pictures of you and one of your fiancee to give people something to walk around and look at. Maybe baby pictures on up until your present age. Congratulations on your wedding.

Try getting a cheaper reception site it's only 20 guest and mostly his family where I am from that's not even enough for a bar b que picnic. Anyway get a cheaper place and spend more on your entertainment. Or go to your local dance school and hire one or two teachers to give some dance lessons and they can teach dances according to age group.

first talk to the church and see what they have available. Some may let you use a hall for a reception. Some even offer to supply food for a small fee. But if not, have it at your house. for music, use a stereo system and make some mixed CD's with some good party music. Have food available off to the side and people should have a blast!

Stack a bunch of your favorite CDs into a boom box and turn it on. You don't need a yappy DJ, everybody will enjoy the dancing. Put up some tables with box games (scrabble, dominoes, etc.). Ask 3 or 4 friends to comment on your relationship but give them a specific topic, how you met, where you went on your honeymoon, what happened with the in-laws, or something like that. During the evening, ask each one to tell their story but spread them out, not all at once. You and your husband should circulate and not stay together. Be sure you talk with all your guests, play a game with them. You might even include Karaoke.

Why not just treat it like you would the rehearsal dinner and have a fun dinner out somewhere? We did a a crab dinner and just sat around and hung out. It sounds like this is more your guests speed. Chances are they don't need to be entertained, but food will always bring people together. Go someplace fun. Maybe even a dinner theater!

No band or musician, yet you want it to be memorable? Oh they'll remember you all right, as the one with the boring reception! Bite the bullet and celebrate a little bit. It's not like you're paying for 400. Go ahead and have your intimate little wedding, but go a little classier. Just because it's another go around makes it no less special. Spend the money on a band, you won't regret it

if entertaining guests at church is allowed ... you may think of some jokes and also your husband should practice so that you can tell when eating is going on... but you will be in ceremony where priest is uttering the verses of bible so you can not tell jokes
so record on DVD .. and you also will enjoy your jokes being played for entertaining guests..
remember to include jokes on marriage , divorce, priests, politicians , and innocent jokes no vulgarity...
try
this may be cheapest

Try a casino night, with the winner getting a prize of some sort, you can have blackjack, and roulette, and poker, then you only need 3 people. Have odds so that people win e.g. 4:1 for red/black , and blackjack pays next card so if a 10 is turned up it pays 10:1 etc... people then sit down drinks etc....
