I'm going shopping this evening for a dress to wear to a wedding on Saturday. It's an afternoon wedding.

Which of these styles/colors would be most appropriate? (I probably won't end up with these exact dresses, but I'm just wanting a general idea of what to get.)

I already know both solid white and black should be avoided.

Actually, they are all very similar. All would be appropriate for an afternoon wedding. So, it really depends which is most flattering on you.

They are all great. Don't believe what people say about not wearing black. I recently went to a wedding that started at 4pm and every single woman was wearing black. It was at a Catholic church and the reception was at a very upscale country club. Black conveys elegance and formality. That's why it has become so popular. Stay away from anything too low cut of course and always take a little sweater or wrap in case it's cold in the air conditioning.

Boy they're all nice, that's a toughie - and to clarify, black and white IS ok for a wedding if they're mixed/patterned. I think I'm leaning towards number 3 though, I like the brown/tan/white mix, you can jazz it up with a chunky necklace, wedge heals and a nice handbag - very versatile, earthy and summery. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I think #3 is very pretty. It looks cool and flowy. You could get a sheer wrap or shawl to wear over you shoulders if you are going to be inside a church or for the cool of the evening.

Neither. They are all too short, too informal and too revealing for a wedding. Homestly, those are dresses that would be more suitable for a night in the club and not a wedding.

Try to find something a bit more modest a bit more elegant. A Mid-calf dress is a solid summery color would be more appropiate.

Good luck

I think they are all appropriate for an afternoon wedding. My personal favorites are the first and last dresses.

I liked the brown one and the colored one... black and white always comes across as more white at a wedding... big faux pas.

When going to a wedding you don't want to wear black or white...b/c it's considered disrespectful...Um try something solid or pastel or bold nothing bright or to sheer either...

Four is okay, but why are you limiting yourself to style and colour so much? Time to maybe get out of your comfort zone!
