Wedding is in Deadwood, SD, a 'destination' wedding place. Casinos and really relaxed. However the bride is wearing a formal gown and the groomsmen are wearing tuxedos. Mother of the bride is not formal; wearing a tea length dress; not a 'mother-of-the-bride' dress.
Wedding is at a Hotel and reception is at a restaraunt.

when my hubby and I got married we didn't really have our "first kiss" till we got away from everybody...my brother (who is older than me) burst out with a very annoying "EEeewwwww" just as we started to kiss which only the first row or two of people, the pastor, my hubby and I and the attendants heard and of course we all started laughing and most of the people there couldn't figure out what was so funny...anyway...trying to come up with something to get him back with...want to keep it clean since I'm not sure if he will be getting married in a church or not...thought about having the sheriff come "arrest" him...but someone else beat her in the past election...

Please help...I'm stuck on ideas here...THANKS!!!

Okay my husband and I are wanting to get remarried. The first time we didnt have a real wedding. We just went to justice of peace. But now we are getting married in a church. I dont even know where to begin in planning this. Should we have bridesmaids and groomsmen? Should we have flowers? Should I wear a wedding dress? Should we put rings on eachother again? What should we do?

I am having a small wedding (just my folks and my husband to be) and even with how small it is its already becoming overwhelming! My husband can't have his family (they live far away) and we will do another ceremony when we get to see them again but Because he can't have them now (hes sad) I want to have a party with our coworkers and his friends. We have a very small one bedroom apt and he doesn't want it there, my parents have a rundown old , small house, and we dont have friends with houses, anyone have any good ideas for some place that is free and or fairly cheap (under 50 bucks)

I figured could buy cake, platters of food, and have my family and friends make a few dishes but we need a location! heh

I've asked my best friend of 8 years to be my maid of honor. She was so excited and honored at first. I even asked her sister (another friend of mine) to be one of my bridesmaids. Now my problem is that i'm now 5 months away from my wedding and she wont return any of my emails or phone calls! We didnt get into any arguments and the last time we talked everything was fine...but now she wont give me the time of day! Should I forget about my dream to have her in my wedding, or should I keep calling and hoping for the best? HELP!!!!

Growing up, I always promised my cousin I would make her my maid of honor when I got married. However, lately I do not support her lifestyle. She doesn't have a job or car and does not seem to care about her future. She is also very immature. I love her to death, but I don't think she can handle the responsiblities of the job and she surely will not be able to afford the dress, shoes, etc.

At the same time, I have a best friend of 7 years. She is also friends with my cousin. She disapproves of her lifestyle too. We both agree she is headed down the wrong path. However, I really want her to be my maid of honor. She is responsible and someone I can rely on. She has a job and would be able to afford the dress with no problem.

Who should I pick? I'm worried about hurting my cousin's feelings, but she really isn't showing me her ability to be my maid of honor well. Also, I'm afarid of what our families will think. We are very close and I know my mother

I really want to do Willow Tree Angels/Figurines for them but I'm torn as to if I should buy them all the same one that says Thank You and is holding a bouquet of forget-me-nots, or if I should buy them eacha different one that fits our relationship.

I am also torn if I do buy the thank you one if I should buy the firgurine or the plaque. What do you all think?

...expect my guests to pay the $4 it costs to get into the park where my reception is?

I'm having my reception at a state park that it costs $4 a day to get into to. I could insert vouchers to get in, but I don't get a discount or anything, and I'm trying to find ways to trim my budget so that I can accomplish what I would like to do. It is only $4 a car and everyone in my family has been there and knows of the cost. Half of them have yearly passes. It just seems logical to cut this, but don't want to assume too much. I'm having a fairly large wedding, and it would save me mucho dinero. I'm not cheap, just overbudget as it is.

Also, should I mention the fee on the reception card if I choose not to include the voucher? Again I don't want to assume that everyone knows or is going to think about the fee.

Thanks.

I guess I am question "black" but it's nice and cute and I could wear it again and again. Plus it has a lot of coverage which I like... I am not really a sun dress or little strap person. But on the other hand- I don't want to look like a nun.

This would be my second choice-

An then I go to another extreme and love this one!!

But I am afraid I'll look too old.... in it.. like 20 years to late for the prom! LOL

Thanks for all your input!!

I love my engagement ring by itself and don't really want the little contour band that goes on at the wedding.

What's your thoughts? I know it's my choice but I was curious if this was typical. Thanks.

Anyway does anyone know of a well reputable online invitation company? And what colors do ya'll think are pretty and represent marriage and happily ever after? I want the color to match the accent color of the wedding which is unknown at the time, but maybe if I could get some help and ideas Id be a lot further in my process of planning. Thanks a ton!

My mother always told my sister & I growing up that if we did not have a big wedding her & my dad would help my sister & I with a down payment on a house. My fiance & I are going to be married April '08, but we are buying our home in January b/c our apartment lease will be up. I recently asked my mother if her & my dad could give us the money before our wedding so we could have a better downpayment on our home. She said that would be fine at 1st and then 2 days later she told me it was not nice of me to ask for the money before our wedding. I said well if I was having a big wedding you would be helping me out now. I don't want to sound like a spoiled brat or anything. Everything would have been fine if she would have never told us that she would help us out with a down payment. She is helping my sister out now with her wedding. I don't know why she won't help me out with a home. I don't know what I should do please help me out.

My best friend from college happened to get engaged in Nov and her wedding is 1 month after mine. Her Bridal Shower is June 23 and I had plans set that afternoon my future sister in law....the shower is like and hour and a half from where I live and I fear I wont have enough time to make my previous plans. (and even if I did it would be by the skin of my teeth). Am I terrible for not wanting to go to the shower? I'm her bridesmaid, and she's mine, but its so far away...(not to mention I'm having a feeling this might be my bachelorette party and my friend didnt make it to my shower- not that this part plays any role in my decision)

I have been thinking about this a lot lately... and out of curiosity I would like to know what other people think about this.

Times have changed and so many people break tradition in many ways. Women have careers as well as families, many people have sex before marriage, people are getting married for the first time older than people did in the past, more people are college educated, more people live with their partner before they get married, brides don't have to just wear white, and I'm sure there are a lot of other traditions that have changed or are not being followed anymore.

But when it comes to marriage, it still seems like it's the woman who is expected to change her name and not the man (I know many women keep their maiden name or hyphenate) . I found this very interesting. Do men ever change their name to their wife's name? I wonder why for the most part this particular tradition has not changed with the times - it is still the woman who takes her husband's name.
