I think it's great that Target now has some options for Wedding Gowns and Bridesmaid Gowns. I think they are perfect if you are having and informal wedding or perhaps would like to wear a second gown for your reception. Hey they are affordable enough! When ever you see the word Bridal Gown or Wedding Gown there is going to be some expense to it. Think out of the box and keep your eyes open. You can definitely look into what are considered bridesmaids/prom gowns as your wedding gown. With some of them if you add a veil who would ever know it wasn't a designer gown that came from a bridal store! A friend of mine purchased her gown from "of all places" Burlington Coat Factory. Beautiful Ivory halter style gown with lace and a sweep train. It was on the clearance rack (after prom season). She ended up paying $35.00 for her dress!!! No one ever would of known the dress didn't come from a Bridal Salon. Here are a few links you can try. Good Luck!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a dress from Target or anywhere else. People spend so much money on weddings now days that it's crazy. It's one day...the marriage is what's important, not the wedding. Save the money you'd spend on a dress at a bridal shop for the honeymoon, starting a college fund for a child, or a house payment. In my opinion, it's just greedy to spend thousands of dollars on a dress.

I didn't know taget sold bridal gowns! I don't know where you live but there's are other stores to shop at for wedding gowns.
David's Bridal. I know you said other than a bridal store but based on where you were looking ie target.com. I am assuming that you want something affordable that looks elegant and expensive. David's Bridal suits both needs.
Sears
JCPenneys (check their catalog or their outlet store)
Also, you can try consignment stores or bridal rentals. IF you know someone that sews/a seamstress, you can visit a fabric shop and check out bridal patterns and have a dress made.
Good luck.

Even the second link didn't take me to a gown. It was an entire pg of shawls and a couple veils. Why wouldn't I get a wrap from Target?
But yes I had a good friend wear jcrews wedding gown which is beautiful
http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod82096401
I had another friend order hers from ebay/China custom made for her as well. It was no different than my other friends who plan on hiring a seamstress b/c they are doing a medieval/Renaissance wedding.
I have also seen white prom dresses at department stores that looked like wedding gowns.
What's it matter?

Before everyone snubs their nose at those dresses they are actually pretty nice especially if you're having a casual outdoor wedding. Also, I do belive they are made by Issac Mizrahi (sp) so they are not going to be some thrown together junk. If you don't want to spend a ridicuolous amount on something you will only wear once, go for it.

Well...there are places that sell really pretty dresses other than bridal stores, because it doesn't have to be a wedding dress...you could just wear a really pretty dress that suits the occasion and it'll be just fine. Just see what you find on Google. Also, FFB Designs has wonderful dresses.
