I guess I am question "black" but it's nice and cute and I could wear it again and again. Plus it has a lot of coverage which I like... I am not really a sun dress or little strap person. But on the other hand- I don't want to look like a nun.

This would be my second choice-

An then I go to another extreme and love this one!!

But I am afraid I'll look too old.... in it.. like 20 years to late for the prom! LOL

Thanks for all your input!!

I love the first dress. I think it will be perfect. Now a days most people don't care what to wear for the rehearsal dinner. Great choice.

I do love this one too...I know it is is a sun dress but the one you like does not have much more sleeves.

The goth/punk, Bettie Page thing is rather unique. My concern is the wedding party. This is just for the rehearsal, not for the wedding--what will everyone else be wearing?

Mine was very casual so it was whatever. And if that is your style then why not go for it? But in general, even my punk friends don't do gothpunk for other peoples weddings. Usually its a time to go a bit more conservative, since grandparents are there.

I like the 2nd one best b/c it looks more current. Brown and pink is so in and so cute. It's the least Bettie Page of the 3. But then again....that defeats the style you were going with. Personally, I'd wear the 2nd one more. I like that it shows clevage but has that modesty cover--so normally i would wear it without the shawl, but its nicer with for a wedding event.

However you said you wanted a lot of coverage. And I don't think it really has that (depending on your build)

The 1st one is cute. Retro. More covering. More dressy than the other 2 as well. However its not something I personally would wear again. Do you often dress like that? It's not worth it if you aren't going to wear the dress again and again. But I definitely don't think it is too "black" for a rehearsal dinner.

I hate the 3rd one though--I definitely think that is "20 years too late for the prom". Hope this helps.

It really depends who else is there. I'm more conservative and usually agree with what people 40+ think of outfits. Even if you are usually a pink hair and combat boots kinda girl, for a wedding, I'd go back to natural hair and wear girls shoes. If her family is more off the wall and its a non traditional wedding with a Mad Hatter cake--then the 3rd one is great. Very classy. And you won't have to worry about anyone else being in the same dress.

I understand about not being a sundress or a little strap person-- If this is the case I'm thinking you might not be comfortable in dress #3. (at least 2.. you have a little cover up)
Out of the 3 I like #1.
The way to make #1 work - Make sure the length is not too long on you and that it skims your hips. (big and long will take on an older feel. Alter it if need be) - Make sure the dress is the only retro item on you - current hair, current nails, shoes and purse.

There desire no longer be one ounce of drama. the answer on your difficulty is fairly easy, fairly. You do one among 2 issues and you do it continuously. You the two kill her with kindness or you completely overlook approximately her. those are your 2 alternatives. you do not have interaction in rehashing old communicate. you do no longer improve any sick strategies of her habit. you do no longer do something to reason or hint in direction of drama. Now, whilst all and sundry sees you performing like a desirable lady, they're going to see that the Kaitlin Drama Queen is the wrongdoer. All you're able to do is be polite and style for each man or woman else to be certain. Be cordial and be civil to that difficulty newborn and all would be properly. proceed on that path from right here on out and communicate no evil. you will grow to be respected and considered for the lady which you're. Having your footprints being the only ones on the intense street would be wonderful.

Those are so cute! I love the 50's and love the styles. I may have to get one for MY rehearsal dinner! It looks so fun!

I think I like the first dress the best. The third is cute but may be to fancy for a rehearsal.

Of all those I would choose the 3rd, for the opposite reasons, I think the other two look to old. The 3rd looks young and hip, the other 2 just look retro and not in the cool Alice Underground way. (Alice Underground is a 2nd hand store that carries cool retro clothes in NYC, if you dont know, its pretty famous though that why I referenced it)

ETA: First of all 30 is NOT old, why would you think that? Jesus, 40 isnt even old anymore. You are still young.
2nd, look at the dress Beth F suggested, now that dress has it all! A perfect choice, in my opinion

Honestly, my favorite one was the last one, the "prom" one as you put it. That one is beautiful and if you dont want to be showing too much skin you can always throw a shawl over your shoulder and cover some up.

They are all beautiful though.

For a rehersal dinner i would go with the third choice... the first one IS cute but I would still go with the third; especially because of the color.

I like the first one the best! I think it's most appropriate and I think it would look very nice on most body types. I don't feel like it would inappropriate at all.

I like the third dress, it's hip, modern, and versatile; the other ones look a bit matronly to me.

Good luck
