I am an only child and have decided to get married. My mother loved him before he proposed and now that he has and I said yes she and my father hates him. They are paying for my wedding and have control of the money. My husband-to-be, his parents are very poor and can barley afford to drive the hour and half it takes to be at the wedding. So my parents have like I said took it upon themselves to pay for it, but along with that they are making sure it is done the way they want it. MY opinion is listened to and then thrown to the side because its there money. Something they did that really upset me was we booked a reception hall that included a suite for the couple and two rooms. Me (bride) and the groom and my parents agreed that his parents could have one of the rooms seeing as how they can't afford it. Now all of a sudden they have said his parents can't have the room. They are trying there hardest to make this wedding about my family and nothing to do with him or his family?? Help??

I work in a smaller office maybe 30 people max. There is one lady in my office I absolutley cannot stand. For example, when I told her about my engagement, she said "now why would you go and do a thing like that?!" Shes just flat out rude. But im going to be passing around a guest list to find out who all from work is going to attend and get addresses etc. But I DO NOT want her to go. What am I supposed to say when the list gets to her? Just say sorry , I don't want you to go? Or just "lose" her invitation in the mail? I don't know.

I would like to have an inexpensive but delicious dinner at my wedding. I am getting married in South Bend, Indiana (it's the town that Notre Dame is in). I figure that serving ham and turkey will save some money. I will have around 150 guests. Around how much do you think this will cost? Is it cheaper to go buffet or sit-down?

I want to rent out a place just to get ready for my wedding b/c the bridal room at the church is also a kids' playroom and I'm not really liking that. The houses of the people we know nearby will be filled with relatives so I can't go there. Any suggestions on what I can do if I can't find a nearby hotel that will let me rent a room for just that morning?

I keep reading the same old thing.....Browning, Shakespeare, and all of the usual poets. I would like something rare and romantic. Something that most people haven't heard.

I would love it to be super romantic so nothing with an up tempo. Perhaps a popular song but a song that hasn't been played on the radio? Also, he and I were best friends since we were little so songs that have to do with marrying a friend would be great. Thanks for your help!

My parents are 100% against alcohol at my wedding reception. My fianc`e's parents and majority of their family are expecting alcohol, but my father has said he won't attend if alcohol is present. I know it will also "offend" some of my guests, but alot of my fianc'e's family claims they won't come without alcoholic. I know if they really cared about him and I they would come anyway. But I also want him to have his family there...what do I do? Can I have two receptions on the same day? If so, how do i pull it off and what is served at each one...I am so lost..and It's causing a lot of drama.

How tacky is pot luck for your wedding reception? I don't have very much money as I'm paying for this wedding myself on one income as well as supporting two babies. Is it terribly tacky to ask guests to bring food if its a casual type affair and not traditional???

It's going to be a ceremony with family and maybe a luncheon after. Since technically my husband and I are already married, what type of dress should I wear? It's a very special occasion for me but I don't think a full-on wedding dress would be appropriate. I'd appreciate the help.

I never realized how popular I was until now ( I hear many Brides-to-Be feel the same way). Its amazing how many people want to be involved at my wedding.
We already have:
5 bridesmaids/5 groomsmen.
2 Maid of Honors/ 2 Best Men
2 flower girls
1 Ring barrier/ and my 5 year old nephew who will be handing out roses to the ladies as the flower girls walk down... and
My one friend is reading a poem at the reception. My nephew is playing the guitar as I walk down the aisle.

I know it sounds like a full house already, but I have 2 more friends (female) and my 2 other nephews (15 & 18) that I would like to involve... what other roles could they play?

Me and my ex are good friends. We started off as friends, then dated. Then broke up. Now ten years later. We still have conversations about life, and give each other great advice on life, and the opposite sex. I give him tips to romance his girl, and he helps me understand men, and their goofy ways.

I'm having a lot of trouble deciding whether to choose my best friend (of 18 years) or my sister as my maid/matron of honor. My sister and I are very close, but she has two kids and another on the way, plus she lives 6 hours away from me- so I don't think she would want the responsibility of planning a bridal shower, giving the toast, etc. When she got married 5 years ago, she didn't have bridesmaids, and HER best friend at the time was her maid of honor (although she has said many times that now she wishes she had chosen me instead- we weren't as close back then as we are now). I definitely want her in my wedding, but I don't want her to be hurt if I choose my friend instead of her as my maid of honor....and I know sisters are forever, but I know my best friend will be 'forever' as well. I don't know what to do. Any advice??

Especially if you really don't know people. No one wants to just drink, eat and then sit there watching other people.
