You have many options. One is to ask somebody who has been a best man before. Another way is to read some (gasp) bridal magazines or go online to some (another gasp) wedding sites.
Your job is to support the groom, through him the bachelor party, make sure he gets the the ceremony on time, and hand him the ring when it is asked for during the ceremony. Traditionally the best man was there just in case the groom did not show up, due to any number of causes, and marry the bride. But that tradition is definately outdated. Oh, you are supposed to hand envelopes filled with payments to the vender when the reception is taking place. That is usually given to you by the bride or groom. What ever extra duties you are supposed to do will be given to you by the happy couple.

We have handily sorted out for you honorable best men all the things you need to get done prior to, and on the day of, the wedding. Here's how you do it.
Are you ready for this? Oh, it's really not that bad. You've got a few important tasks to accomplish, two rings to look after, one important speech, and then you're free to party with rest of them. Here are the pre-wedding and Big Day responsibilities the bride and groom have deemed fit to give you:
Before the Wedding
* Be there to help out the groom and the other groomsmen when you're choosing and trying on formalwear. Don't forget, most times this is a matching affair!
* Plan the bachelor party. One of the more fun duties, obviously. You're in charge of getting the word (or the invitations) out, coming up with a plan the groom's sure to love, and partying your butt off.
* Attend the rehearsal and dinner. You may also be asked to say a few words at the rehearsal dinner. You will work out with the other groomsmen how you will lead people to their seats, who sits where, etc. You'll also have to rehearse your own walk down the aisle with the Maid of Honor.
The Big Day
# The groom may ask you to help in arranging limos and getaway cars and such if he's busy taking photos or other tasks.
# Make sure the groomsmen have their clothes on! Before the wedding begins, you may want to check in with the other guys to see if socks, shirts, and cummerbunds are on and matching.
# Help the groom, if he needs it You understand what that means.
# Check in, talk to the clergy, the moms, the dads, and make sure everyone has what they need prior to the ceremony. Volunteer to help should something go painfully awry.
# Keep an eye on the ushers. You're definitely in charge of making sure grandma and Aunt Doris are sitting in the right spot.
# During the ceremony, make sure you have the bride's wedding ring. You'll hand this off to the groom when they're ready to exchange.
# Usually the Maid of Honor and the best man are witnesses to the marriage, and sign the certificate along with the bride and groom after the ceremony.
# Ah, your last duty Give the hilarious, inspiring, loving, memorable toast at the reception (no pressure). Unless you've been asked to be the Master of Ceremonies for the night, this is your last task of the day - then you are free to party down!

It's not big deal my ex was once a bm just don't lose the ring if they are given to you and make a good speech for example
Just say something like " i wish the best of luck on your journey that you begin together i know you'll have your ups and downs but the important thing is that u love each other and always will And I only hope when i find my special someone that our relationship will at least half as wonderful as the one you two share." Then of course you finish by saying "To the bride and groom and may they love each other for eternity"

Having been a best man many times, forst you will have to plan a stag party for the groom, invite his male friends and family members. The next thing you need to do is prepare a speech for the reception. That is about all you are responsible for.
