I am getting married next May & my bridal party colors are dark teal (for my maid/matron of honor) & light teal (for my maids). My mother is most likely wearing a plum color. My Fiance's mother said to me "So, I should be looking at blues/greens for my dress for the wedding?" My response was..."Its completely up to you. You may wear whatever color you are comfortable in." In reality, I would prefer that she not wear a color that is similar to that of the bridal party. Is this the norm? How do I confront this?

I'm in the midst of planning my wedding. I have a theme of Red, pale blue, silver and dragonflies! I have heard of a butterfly release (where they release 100's of butterflies at a certain point in the wedding), but I was wondering if there was such thing as a dragonfly release. Because I'm obviously a fan of dragonflies over butterflies. Anybody know of a company that does it?

It's to a friend of my boyfriends wedding and he's not seen them in ages (used to be in a band together years ago and lost touch after it broke up).

I think it'll be okay just to send a general use notecard. I'm just wondering what to write, is it okay just to say that we'd love to go and can't wait to see them and catch up? or should it be more formal?

Is it just me or does anyone else thinks that it is crazy to spend tons of money on a wedding, go in debt and live in a small apartment? I know people have the right to do what they want with their money, but I think that it makes more sense to save money, since the money is the #1 cause of divorce. What are your thoughts?

It's a last minute thing that i would like to marry my future wife next month ( March 6 , "Good Friday" ) and this would be my first time taking a huge step. I realize that theres many things that needs to be done and dont know where to start and how to bargain. Im in 323 area in southern california and have little $ to burn. And im estimating about anywhere from 80 to 100 people that will attend ceremony including a wedding party. I know this wont be any fancy one but a decent simple wedding day. I have research in wedding magazine and find it so exspensive and this is why i ask for your help with some of your wedding critics with pointers. Heres a list i would like to know more about that would be less exspensive and where to find.

I love my boyfriend so much and we love being together I think it is stupid not to get married, we have talked about getting married and he say's he wants to marry me but he doesn't ever take a step in that direction. I would like to be married and live together and start a family, but how can I with a man who doesn't seem to ever be ready? I know he loves me and he is great but I feel so inadiquite because of his lack of proposal. I feel like I'm steadily aproaching a time where it's like, marry this guy or move on. And that thought breaks my heart. Let me know what you think I should do, I need help.

My grandparents are driving 9 hours to come to our wedding. This is a big deal based on the fact that I've seen my grandmother twice in the past 6 years, my grandfather once (he has cancer). They've never been super invovled in my life due to the distance, so it's a big deal to me that they are actually coming into town.

That said, my grandmother mentioned she'd like to see everyone the night of the rehearsal. I won't be able to see them before since I live out of the town (it's my hometown, closer to my fiance's as well), so we won' t be in until the rehearsal. Even though my grandparents are not in the wedding, I thought it was proper to allow out of state guest attend. My fiance's dad is perfectly fine with this, but his mother doesn't think it's "proper" to invite someone not in the wedding. The money isn't a factor, we actually have no wedding party, so right now it's just us, our parents, & his sister, who is not in the wedding either. Have I been wrong all this time?

This is the second time around for my fiance and I. My fiance and I are paying for the wedding and honeymoon entirely ourselves. We simply do not have any additional money in our budget to pay for a rehearsal dinner for anyone and neither of our parents are willing to provide financial support. That said, we have 1 maid of honor and 1 best man (not a large wedding party) and mostly out of town guests. We really would like to spend time with them and enjoy dinner the night before. How do we convey to guests that we want to spend time with them but they will need to anticipate the cost of their dinner and drinks?

When during a wedding ceremony is the unity candle usually lit? Who lights it? Aren't there some that have the bride and groom light it and some that have the mothers light it? What have YOU seen or done?
