No, dragonfly eat other bugs and they can't be release because it will make that area unbalanced with bug life which effect plant life and so on. They do butterflies because- they die quickly and don't effect the Eco system. They are crazy $$$ though.... $60 for 1 dozen butterflies so that's $500.00 for 100. And they are always monarch butterflies because they don't change or effect the Eco system.

I don't think it has that much to do with whether one is religious or not. I think it has to do with what was modeled to you as you were growing up, and also the experiences you've had. If you have been on the receiving end of suffering, you might be more likely to have compassion for something that is suffering and vulnerable. To some people (many, I think), a bug is just a bug and not worthy of compassion. We're taught that growing up about lots of creatures - snakes, rodents, anything that might be "ugly" in our eyes. Yet they are all living creatures and the only thing that distinguishes them from others is our perception of their worth. My nephews asked me to swat a fly the other day, and I told them I couldn't. That I didn't like to swat them. They eventually changed their plan to use fans to blow it out of the house. I'll do what I can, when I can; I'm not always successful, but I try.

I have never heard of a dragonfly release. If I was at a wedding that did it, I would be running, screaming bloody murder, towards my car during it. I would go straight home! Dragonflys scare me!
And I would go back to the store and return my gift! Or keep it myself if it was something I liked!

Dragonflies do sting and bite people, though not often. And a lot of people don't want dragonflies buzzing around their heads. I'm not sure if companies do a dragonfly release, but I'd suggest rethinking whether or not you really want one.

I'm not a fan of this type of thing, I've seen it happen too many times where the butterflies are all dead, I don't think it is fair to use animals or insects if it could result in their death, you may say "they are just insects" but they are still living things. It's also a huge waste of your heard earned money if your box arrives full of dead insects.
