So, my mom is the only one helping me pay for my wedding, so of course I want to keep her thoughts in mind...however for the reception we have two different opinions...she wants a tea party..and I was thinking finger sandwiches, vegetable tray, fruit and cheese tray, and cake...she is completely against having a vegetable tray at a wedding...so I'm wondering..how appropriate it would be, to have a reception around 2pm and just serve cake and punch...this way it is after lunch, and people would start leaving around dinner time...however some part of me feels as though I would owe my guest a meal....opinions please...I don't have the money to go out and get a caterer, and I don't see the point in having a desert reception.....there is such a thing as too much sweets...of course I would still have the dancing and all the fun stuff...I'm just stuck when it comes to the food area...thanks...in advance for the opinions.

My dress is a slightly above knee all white chiffon, lace and organza creation. I will also have on a poufy crinoline white slip under it for fullness along with my favorite white satin bra and g-string panty set as well as beige silk nylons with white and red trimmed garter belt and white satin pump high heels. Any ideas on this?

Wedding coming up next month and I want to get a really nice present for the bride and groom. Looking to spend up in the area of $200. I want something that the couple will have and use for a long time. I always thought it was soo cool that my mom (who has been married 48 years) still uses every day the pots and pans she got as a wedding present and even remembers who got them for her! That's the kind of gift I want to give!

We've been together 5 years. We are gettingn married and buying a house at the same time/. First should we do it seperately?? Is it okay to do it together? My fiance says lets do it together, even though our home needs a few cosmetic updates. Then on our 1 year anniversary do it again and show off all the new updates in our home, what do you think?? When should we do it?

Your status is defined and underlined. You do your duties and become a good wife and a caring mom by all social standards, but what happens to that little self of yours who once upon a time use to sing freely, write poems, wander...! Ds that self of yours hav no right to come back even in a small way? What if by just talking to someone(opp. sex) you re-live those emotions?
You draw your lines(you know you will never ruin your marriage cz you love your hubby n your kid!) but yea emotionally you feel nice, better.. (You feel better and it reflects on your marriage also)
Is that still cheating the marriage?
Or else keeping everything subdued inside and sulk, let it out in a bad way (which also will reflect on the marriage eventually), is that better, done?

Must be the season... The invitation to my partner (of 5 years) daughters wedding arrived today there were actually (2) in the envelope. In her handwriting they were addressed to "Joe Blogs and partner" and "Joe Blogs and Friend". I am very hurt and not quiet sure how to approach my partner about this, he has his daughter on such a high pedistal you almost need a ladder. I was reading a previous question on if this was rude or not, not only do I think it is rude it is very hurtful. Maybe she is trying to tell me something

Would it be tacky to have the guests write out wishes for us instead of having a guest book? And does anyone have any good ideas for keeping them together? (besides a scrapbook)

Thanks:-)

My husband and I are both informal, and naively attempted to plan our own wedding, without hiring any planners or reading any of the magazines. Surprisingly, we did not get into any wedding planning fights or angst during the whole year of planning...until the morning of...and every potential penned up anxiety was blown up and shared. We both said a lot of things that morning we regret. Luckily, we shook it off, made adjustments, and enjoyed the evening ceremony. Now, we're almost at the end of two years of marriage, and it has been for the most part very typical (happiness with the occasional bumps). However, when the disagreements come out, or when I hear about happy wedding days, I still feel like the marriage is "doomed for a divorce" because of how it started. I know it's silly...but it's difficult.

Any insight???

I want to get married in Charleston, SC. I also want a old-fashioned 40's wedding. I really want the location to be at an old plantation house. Some where with lots of huge oak trees, flowers, and maybe a river. Any suggestions?

I was one of 12 bridesmaids in my sister's wedding about 9 years ago. Her wedding was gigantic and cost she and her husband over $40,000! My wedding is tiny (65 guests maximum) and my fiance has only 3 groomsmen (he doesn't want any more). I live on the East coast and my sister lives in California. She is 39 years old and has a husband and daughter (my neice, whom I love). We are not extremely close (7 years apart). I have my best friend as my maid-of-honor (who live 4 hours away), my other best friend as a bridesmaid (another 4 hours away)and I have grown very close to my fiance's sister (who lives 15 mintues from us) and asked her to be one as well.
I figured that my sister would not be interested in being a bridesmaid because she is so far away and busy (she wouldn't come to the bachelorette party), and to be honest, there were friends of mine that I am closer with that I'd rather have as bridesmaids, since I only have 3 spots and we're on a tight budget.

What do I do??

How does an engagement work? I'd really like to know.

Do you need an official paper (like a wedding certificate) in order to be engaged --- or it is that as soon as the guy proposes, the two people can start telling others that they're engaged?

And when do you trade the engagement ring for the wedding band?
One of my co-workers is engaged, and she's wearing a ring that's different from the one she was wearing at first (she ain't married yet)?
Do guys wear a ring, too?

I may look ignorant, but hey, what can I do, I was like 5 years old the last time I attended a wedding, + my parents are not even married.

My boyfriend's brother is getting married next month and I would like to get a new dress... the wedding is at 4pm and outside and in San Diego. I found this one at Nordstrom.com and think that it might work, but do not know which color to get. I like all of them except the black/white. Does this work and if yes, what color?

I think you cant expect people to love you, if you dont love yourself. I was wondering how people, esp those in relationships have learnt to love themselves, in order to let other people love them?

Does it really matter where you get married or how large your wedding is (if you have a traditional one). Or is it who you marry and the reasons why you marry them that is important??? Just a though!
