Wedding coming up next month and I want to get a really nice present for the bride and groom. Looking to spend up in the area of $200. I want something that the couple will have and use for a long time. I always thought it was soo cool that my mom (who has been married 48 years) still uses every day the pots and pans she got as a wedding present and even remembers who got them for her! That's the kind of gift I want to give!

The BEST gift we got wsa from my husband's aunt, she took our invitation and had it custom framed with pressed flowers that coordinated with our wedding colors. It is absolutely gorgeous and something that we will be able to cherish forever. Another idea is that a lot of places are able to engrave the invitation wording onto a frame that the couple can put their wedding photo in. Things like that will surely be something the couple would remember you for.

The best gift we got would be either our awesome hand-painted picture (from MIL) or all of our accumulated money (cash & checks). I wouldn't recommend picture frames because we received about 30 of those and we would have rather of gotten other stuff. I did like the blender we got, also.
It's up to you on what you want to get the couple, but keep them in mind when getting the gift...see if they are registered anywhere. Most of our guests didn't even look at our registry and we wound up with a ton of stuff we either already had pre-wedding or 4 of everything. Good luck.

If the couple registered, follow the registry and buy a $200 gift that they would really use a lot. Any gift I or my two sisters have gotten that wasn't on the registry, we didn't like. If you don't buy off the registry, you are gambling. If they didn't register, try to stay away from home decor items. They most likely do not share your tastes. Personally, my most memorable gifts were checks. My guests helped me pay for my wedding. I was very appreciative.

I registered for two different sets of dishes and someone bought me ALL of the one set. It is nice to have them all. If you are going to do this or buy them something then have it sent to their house. Do not bring it to the wedding. Only bring cash to a wedding. The bride and groom are not going to want to carry around all their gifts at the end of the long long night.

Buy the couple a nice picture frame to put their wedding picture in. This will be something they will always use and always have out for everyone to see. My brother-in law is getting married next month and that is what I am getting them for the wedding gift.

Honestly, the best gift that we got was the gift certificates to Home Depot and Pottery Barn. We had just bought a house and we still talk about how useful and helpful those giftcards were. A year later. Other than that... I think that my favorite gift was our grill, but that is expensive for one person to give by herself. I also loved the Christmas tree skirt that was embroidered with our married name. That was special for us and something we will definitely look back on every year and remember who bought it for us. It is not laying around everyday and forgotten about.

The best gifts are not always the most expensive, you must remember. My fave. gift was the ethnic-decorated china my family got for me. But other things were favourites, as well. For example, my most used wedding gift was a big electric frying pan, which I use all the time, and of course I remember who got it for us.

The accumulated cash that we got from all the different relatives bought nearly our entire living room set. That was wonderful, and we still talk about how amazingly generous everyone was.

But the one gift from one person that was the best was our flatware. Someone bought us the entire set (except serving pieces) in one fell swoop. We still use it daily, I still love the pattern, and it was so nice to not have to worry about finishing the set after the wedding. And of course I remember who got it for us.

The best gift that my husband and I got was a crystal frame that my aunt got us. It had our names etched in the top and our wedding date at the bottom. It is heavy, too heavy for the wall but we will definitely be putting it out somewhere for all to see.

Yea, a car was the best I;ve ever seen. My uncle gave my cousin and her new husband a brand new Ford Minivan. Not used. Sticker was still on the freaking window. Wish my father in law was that cool. He gave me and my wife a set of towels. Oh....boy. We were like "PARTEEE TIME" lol.
