That's a gamble! You can get GREAT deals on some gorgeous vintage diamonds off eBay; however, you may get the ring appraised and find you've been taken. Since you will have purchased it from one person whom you know only by a screen name, it may be hard to get your money back. It could be quite a blow, since you may spend thousands of dollars! You may feel safer purchasing the ring from a Power Seller with flawless feedback. Checking feedback is essential for eBay buys! Also, make sure you have a way to get back to your seller. Make sure there's something you can do if you are not satisfied with the ring, such as return it. Big jewelry companies should offer plenty of options you won't get with private auctions. Check bbb.org to see if the company you're considering has given other buyers grief before, and if they're a member. Membership in the Better Business Bureau is a sign of good faith many businesses offer to their customers. If you're unhappy at the end of the transaction, you can file a complaint and the company will usually contact you, more than happy to resolve it to clear their good name. Good luck finding the ring and have a great time shopping!

If you want to be absolutely sure that it's gorgeous you need to see it in person. Something that looks great online may look like cut glass in person and it may not even be the exact diamond and ring pictured. Many stores offer free lifetime cleaning and servicing which you can't get online. You also run the risk of a scam or a diamond that is worth much less than they say. Whatever you do, do your homework! Know what qualities matter the most for each cut and be careful!

The only way i can understand that is if all the gems on the rings aren't in fact diamonds but maybe others as well like Sapphires or crystals. But otherwise it just sounds like he is making it clear your not getting a proposal anytime soon.

NO NO NO!!! Don't do it! You can not be assured that it is a true diamond unless it is from a reputable site, which is not easy to verify.

Your best bet is to go to a reputable jeweler in person, where they will test the diamond right in front of you to prove that it is real.

I would not, you need to look at the diamond to see want flaws they have and if they are noticeable. The diamonds are rated and follow a scale.

I've been following this site, if you do decide they have been making a profit every quarter, that tells me they are selling diamonds. As far as quality i don't Know?

as long as the site offers diamonds that are certified by the IGI or GIA then you should be fine. my husband got mine online @ a new york diamond dealer that offered diamonds certified by the igi. he then selected a platinum band as its setting. it's more cost effective than buying in a mall because mall jewelers tend to offer lower quality diamonds for a higher price.

you can purchase beautiful diamond rings offline, but please do be careful! I would suggest only going to places you are familiar with to make a purchase, for others might be a scam. Kays Jewelers has an excellent website with really good sales right now
