Many responses on here regarding money and level of independence in a marriage tend to agree that its justified to keep someone on a leash. Example: one spouse buys a big ticket item w/out the other's consent. Most relpies automatically say " Put him / her on an allowance." or " Make them pay you back $100 at a time and YOU get to spend it on what you want."

Other questions that deal w/ concerns about a spouse's activities online / at-work / etc... Most replies are "Get net-nanny, have a co-worker check them out for you, tell them they can't hang out with that person anymore, etc..."

Is this REALLY the way most of us act in our marriages? Would you actually follow the "advice" you dole out on this board?

What ever happened to talking w/ your spouse and asking for an honest answer? What ever happened to, "I don't really like this / that, but overall my spouse loves me, the kids, takes care of the home, and comes home to me, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt." ?

There's a group of us that have been friends for over 20 yrs. (we're all about 34).1 guy (married 3 yrs.) has just recently found out that his wife had a really serious 5 month affair. She ended it 2 months ago & talked to the other guy up until 4 wks ago.She also said she loved the other guy up until 4 wks ago. She was ready to leave husband but decided at the last minute to try & save their marriage. They're both in counseling but not in counseling together. She got an apartment in Dec. & hasn't technically moved back in to their house. As his friends,we're trying to be supportive but don't trust her at all.He makes a ton of money. We're also trying to look out for his best interest. He has begun to say that he's not sure that he wants this. We,as hs friends, have reserved our opinion that he should end it & find someone who will really love him. What he doesn't know is that she has been unfaithful to him 3 times,in varying degrees (including this). Do you think he should end this?

I just want to let you know that my wife is a very religous women who has brought Jesus Christ into our lives. She is also a person and very banal.

When I left for work yesterday morning, my wife asked me what I wanted to have for dinner later that evening. Even though he is nearly 8 months pregnant, I didn't want to shortchange myself on the meal, so I asked for a full spaghetti meal with special sauce and a couple of different sides. I'm worth it.

So I get home from work after a long and emotionally draining day, and I find pizza on the table!!!???

I guess my precious wife was too tired from being pregnant all day to get up and make some pasta for me.

I'm a great catch, and this is just wrong!

She prepared a dish for me and brought it to me along with a beer. She started to talk to me about her day, but I couldn't respond. My eyes were watering and I was choked up.

I even notice my girlfriend will do this on occasion some nights as well when we are "working late". I ask for the steak medium well, and she burns the heck out of it. It's a personal affront.

Why did she go against my word like this?

Boy breaks up with girl.
Says he isn't falling in love with her. (Boy had been badly hurt by cheating ex-wife and the divorce is less than a year old).
Boy calls ex-gf a few days a week and talks for HOURS.
He calls or emails her about silly things...that really don't need discussing for any immediate reason.
He is going to a concert with her.
They hang out with other couples.
They go to church and are in a Bible study together, and are starting a band together.
Boy calls/emails girl to make sure that she is coming to his shows (that girl isn't in).
When there are things going on, they almost always come together. Sit together. Ride the double rather than the single tubes at the water park together.

But, he doesn't want to be with her? Can you see why girl is confused?

Does boy just WANT to want to be with her? Or maybe he is struggling with issues from the divorce, and just needs a break?

Actions or words? Which is a better indicator?

My husband bought a $1000 gun while I was at my mother-in-laws for two weeks. We dont have enough money to pay our bills and live in a neighborhood where the guy under us was shot when we were home. I know eventually he will need it for his patrol car, but he isn't even done the the Police Academy. The gun isn't returnable and so we have to keep it. He never even told me until I saw it hit a credit card. How mad can I get at him??

I've never been really affectionate with anyone but its gotten worse since I had my baby last month. My husband says I give him mixed signals and when he wants to hold hands when he's driving it freaks me out and I get mad. I just don't feel comfortable with kissing or anything else. What can I do? is there a book or something I can do to be more affectionate? Its really ticking him off.

My wife and I separated around last August. She treated me badly, and I moved out.

Now, she realized what she's done. She's made some changes in her character and wants to make me happy.

We've been hanging out one or two days a week; and agreed to move back in together.

But I'm scared to let my guard down, repeat the same bad treatment from before, and move out again.

I feel that I'm not eager to move in with her.

Part of me got used being on my own again. And I like it.

Why do I feel this way?
I know that if I lost her forever, I'd regret it.

Do I need to just move in and re-connect with her?

I was just wondering how many of you have been Instant messaged by men you didn't know and replyed.? How many of you got into online relationships that you shouldn't of because of being married? Did it help your marriage or make you think why you was doing it in the first place.? Just wondering how common this is.

My beloved's cousin and my cousin met at our wedding, and are now having a wedding of their own next week.

Well, you'd think that was the strangest thing, from what our friends are saying! But I've seen it happen before--I used to live in small towns, after all. Besides, don't most people meet their partners through people they know?

How about you? Do you see your sister or cousin at your in-laws' family reunion?

Do we have to have a will if it is stated on everything we have, ie: IRA's, house, etc, that the one who doesn't die is the beneficiary of everything? Since I have never seen it stated anywhere that one doesn't need a will, I think that I must be missing some information regarding this issue. I realize that there is always the possibility that we may die at the same time, but for us, it seems unlikely.

My husband has known this boy since he was 10. This 10 year old has now moved into our house and goes to work with my husband everyday. The other day when they got home 2 hours later than ususal, they wre acting strange, like if they were hiding something from me. The proceeded to drink beer and play Playstation and my husband ignored me and acted as if i was a bother. They always hang out together and my husband will even ignore his own children and choose to spend time with this 19 year old over them. Since they have been hanging out, my husband has been making nasty comments to me and being rude and just plain mean. Everytime he does this, his friend laughs and that seems to feed my husband and he continues to do it more. When ever this kid is around my husband is mean. It doesnt matter if its on the phone with me in person.. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING ON?? IS THIS A NORMAL RELATIONSHIP?????? IS THIS A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP???????

Me & my mother in law is in a hudge fight. My husband and I married four years ago and have a 4 month old togeather. He has 1 child and 2 stepkids from a previous marriage that are currently living with us for the summer. She promises them things and never shows up. The other day the 7 year old got mad and yelled at her calling her a liar. She never comes and sees the baby. When I got married she said she didnt want to become a grandma again and he had enough kids. She wouldnt hold my daughter in the delivert room. So I got mad when she promised to come get them and didnt. I told her to stay away from me and my daughter. I was mad. I dont want her to do that to my daughter. She talked crap about my husband ex wife and me and his ex actually get along fairly well but his mom talks to her for hours and goes up there. She always tells me when she talks to her and she makes it sound like she wishes they would get back togeather. I dont want to keep my daughter from getting to know her.

I am having trouble getting over it. I want to in the worst way because I love him and KNOW he truly loves me. He wouldn't do half the things his been doing to prove that "home IS where the heart is" if he didn't truly mean it. He got my name tattooed on his finger (he did it for a surprise to me).He got rid of ALL the bad influeneces that led to him being with another woman (no sex and barely even kissed her.... he was asked by her father to make her happy and at the time we were fighting and he figured it was no harm until he put himself in a bad situation and quickly got out of it. It barely lasted 2 months and he only really saw her when she would come see his band play). Anyway, I love him and it seems like EVERY time we argue, even if it has NOTHING to do with him cheating, I bring it up. I could not find someone who fits me more perfectly. Plus we have a 2 yr old together. How do I stop crucifying him and get on with our lives together?
