My son is getting married soon. I asked my future daughter-in-law if she would prefer to call me "Mom" or by my first name. Without missing a beat she said "mom".

I call my mother-in-law "mom", and my sister calls hers by her first name.

Just wonderin', I know it's been asked before so if this is a repeat for you, sorry, I don't mean to bore.

Today, I went over to my oldest brother's new condo. He was putting in cabinets. I helped him hammer in nails. He warned me, "Just please don't swear when you get your finger hit!". I was funny casue I used to hit my finger with my toy hammer when I was little. Just then i forgot what I was doing and I accidentally sctractched my wrist with the other side of the hammer, the part you use to remove nails. I screamed the F word and in a flash he pulled me over his knee, he was sitting on the counter putting a light into the wall, and spanked me twenty times with a screwdriver! luckily, I was wearing jeans.

years ago. my mom wants me to go back to taiwan to live with my dad but say its all my choice its like she is forcing me to go back. she is mentally abusive and is criticizing me whenever she meets me like i'll **** my dad. etc. I like america and when nobody is forcing me to do something i won't do it like go back to taiwan for one year and maybe come back to the united states for college where my mom will disown me. I really like america, and I am american born not taiwanese. I suck at chinese. My mom bullies me. My dad is nice but unambitious. i don't know how i'll live with my mom anymore if i stay.

Well I am 14 years old and this summer was my first summer of working. Well i was a dishwasher at a restaurant and was doing great. people were saying was doing a good job, one guy even said I was the best guy in there and my employer was going to give me more hours. Tonight i got in there and there was no running water (pipes broken) and i couldnt run the dishwasher or the sink. They brought in a vat of water and put it into the sink and told me to handwash which was redicolous for a restuarant on a busy night . I was trying hard but soon found myself overwhelmed in an absolute mountain of dishes I couldnt get cleaned before the waitors were complaining that there was more and I had to hurry up. It was way to much for me I was very stressed out at the time as well about my grandma in the hospital and I just lost it and walked out without saying anything. I called my boss and explained what happend and asked if I could still work there and he said dontcount on it nd hungup.WhatshudIdo?

How can I convince my parents to let me go to a party. I need some ideas. Its just a birthday party with no alcahol or anything, but the problem is that they want to go camping... =( Any ideas on how to convinse them to put it off? I really like my children to be raised religiously. As a family (me,my husband, and my four daughters) go to church on sunday. During the week, my children read the bible and little children stories about our faith. We say prayers at every meal. Don't get me wrong, my children are allowed to go outside and jump on our trampoline or read Laura Ingall's or even go on a bike ride to the nearby store and pick out little toys.I just don't want my children watching tv too much. Twice a week we might watch a movie at night time. My children are not allowed to show disrespect. We drink seltzer, juice, and water i will not allow them to drink soda. I do make lemonade for them and they love it! My children's ages are 14, 12, 8, and 5. So far, they seem happy.

Id appreciate your opinion on our lifestyle.Please don't be rude.I'd like everyone to know that I love my kids.I truly do and raising them faithful will only improve their lives.This is not a cult we do many things.Thx for your opinion!

My father-in-law is very difficult to get along with! I can't stand to be around the man any longer! My husband and I have been married for 11 years now and we have a terrific relationship. His dad is controlling, overbearing, stubborn, a know-it-all, is all the time making smarta_ _ comments and derogatory remarks, and sticks his nose in where it does not belong, and has the tendency to become violent. He is childish and VERY immature for a man of 56! I have had my fill of this man, and no longer ever want to be around him, but I don't want to have my husband resent or hate me for it! I can't and won't say in any detail what this man has done, there are just too many incidences to say. I don't have enought space to write it all out. The anger I feel about this man is consuming me to the point that that is all that's on my mind! I can't talk to the man, all he wants to do is argue! Any advice on how to handle this situation? How do I keep distance w/o upsetting my hubby?

right so without boring you with all the details i havent seen my family in close to 10 years. suddenly they are back in my life through a freak encounter. now they are acting all buddy buddy like im still part of the family. i cant do it. my baby sister isnt a baby anymore. shes getting married. my mother has like diabetes or something and looks sickly. and me. well lets just say i grew up hating them for things i felt they did to me so now im confused as how to act around them

what do i do?

I am so frustrated, we don't make enough money to afford the things we need such as health insurance for the kids, but we go ask for help and they say we make to much money....so, what the heck do ya do when your stuck in the middle?....since when does making $350 a week make you to rich for any kind of assistance?...and why can people sit on there butts, not work at all, and live in a low income apartment, with there bills, food and insurance paid for..how is that fair?...here we are trying to get by and trying to make a future for ourselves but when we need a little help we can't get it...this sucks..anyone else have this promblem?...any one know of any cheap health insurance for kids?...thank you.

My step daughter is always going home from weekends in our home and telling her mother things that are blown way out of proportion. This riles her mother and the results are phone calls to my husband yelling at him and her putting the two other children in a spot where they feel that they are choosing sides by liking me. Right now she is on the phone in my house talking to my husbands old girlfriend ( over an hour) and I feel really weird about it. What can i do, this girl is 16 years old, manipulative and I really can't figure out what is the next right thing to do....my husband ignors it, I can't blame him because I am confused also. Any help would be appreciated. I feel like an outsider in my own home when she is here.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 yrs and for about 2 yrs now we are always fighting b/c of his parents!!They treat him like hes 15 yrs old and hes 20! They like him home at a certain hr sometimes and they only want him to go out every other night "or else it takes time away from his family" which he cant stand by the way (i mean he loves them but he gets annoyed)! AND when hes home his mom and dad treat him like a slave "son do this son plz do that" bla bla bla while his sister sits on her *** all day! WELL to make a long story short his family (aunts and cousins) cant stand me b/c i dont like to hang out around there during parties and stuff and I "make him leave"!! which I dont! I really like his parents but they think that b/c he lives under their house he HAS TO DO whatever they say and I hate it! HELP how can I make this end?????

i'm turning 29 this month.i belong to a strict family.to make it short .the point is i went 2 some ct
to attend a wedding their a guy followed me n gav me his number.i took it n called him.there in anotherct, with cousins
i met him.my parents r insane.they hav ruined our lives.they dont let us go out.always fighting
n have made up our minds in a way that v dont like going out or even having friends.v live like animals,
isolated.hav studied til high school.had friends but mom n dad made all of us siblings leave them.the
guy n i hav been talkin since ayear.he has asked me in the very beginning that he wanted to marry me.i
used to ask him n than he wud say his parents didnt agreee.now he told me that he has talked to his parents
n they hav agreed upon the condition that they will tell my parents bout us that v hav chosen each other.
i told him not to coz my parents wud kil me n refuse.than his parents called n said so but he(the son)
disconnected the fone.his parents called again n talked.he didnt let his parents say this to my parents
.now he told me that v shud do the wedding ceremony in his ct as his parents wont come to my ct.i told
him that this wud be harder 4 my parents coz marriage is done by the gal's family n valima is done by
the boys side.the arrangements thier wont b possible, very limited ppl wud com from my side.i told
him ,he said my parents hav agreed n they hav asked me not to say anything again.my parents dont want me
to get married.i dont hav a career.hav no life.staying home since childhood.seems like im in asylum.
brother got married by fighting n as he is the only son ,dad agreed.bro doesn't work so dad has been
looking after his wife n kid.he has been giving bro money 4 business which goes wasted.father is retiring
in few months.dont have a house of our own,living on rent.i hav another sister who is is 26.if ppl

I have an (almost) stepson who is 6 (am getting married in September). We have a very strange schedule with his visits, but his parents swear that it works fine. My fiancee and I have him Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, all day Saturday, and Sunday until 9 a.m. I think this bizarre schedule could be part of the problem. Anyways, the kid drives me friggin' nuts - he doesn't listen, and is pretty apathetic to whatever you say. There are days where the mere sound of his voice makes me cringe - like nails on a chalkboard. When I first moved in last September, he was very mean to my dogs, and made a point to destroy or mangle anything of mine he could get his hands on. He still does not listen to or respect me at all. I used to want to have my own children - after dealing with this one, I don't anymore. Dad is a very good disciplinarian, but child does not care when I am disciplining. I am beginning to wonder if I was just not "physiologically wired" to deal with children - any ideas?

my moms been being a real b**** lately. and i think it has something to do with this guy she met at work & all the weight she's been losing. like she's soo mean .. like just about 20 min. ago me, my aunt, and her were all outside sitting around a bonfire & my mom ask me to roast her a marshmellow just bcuz she was 2 lazy to get up. & and i had a bowl of french fries in my hand, well i couldnt handle both things at once so i dropped her marshmello in2 the fire & she got really pissed at me and knocked the bowl of french fries from my hand & in2 the bushes. & thats just one of the things she's done to me over the past few months. dumb stuff like this happens almost everyday & some of it even envolves hitting and slapping & name calling. my moms always had kind of a mean streak but this is the worst shes been in a while she acts like shes the only 1 in the whole world thats ever lost a few pounds & the guy she met at work doesnt even like her shes just chasing after him & scaring him away

My 11yr. daughter and my 7 yr. daughter haven't gotten along scence the day my youngest was born. There father and I are still together, but we don't comunicate like we should. He and I also dont work together on punishment or anything else for that matter.
My youngest does what she wants and acts different when adults arn't around She gets into things she knows is wrong, she take's off with out lets her father or I where she is going, and yet she is a angle if you ask her to do something she does it right away and infront of her father and I she acts so inoccent. Her sister wants everything to be her way when they play toghter and will not do what her sister would like to do. She yells at her younger sister and doesnt explain anything. My oldest is a wonderful person to all other kids exsept her sister. Im at my roots end and its honestly destroying our family!

My dad and his wife and my grandma and grandpa on my mom's side seem to think I'm doing something terribly wrong to them because I'm very shy and find it difficult to call and especially to visit, whether they live close or far away. They seem to want their children and grandchildren to show up, help them with something(?) and visit and call regularly and randomly, which would be great for me, if I didn't think they have no idea who I am, hated me since I was a child and continue to dislike me. They talk about how important love and kindness are but I feel like I'm the nicest person in the world for staying away from them and suffering in silence. Why would you hate someone for being distant? But when I send too many emails asking difficult questions about my childhood I am completely ignored. One's religious, and that's a problem, but the other isn't, I just don't understand why they don't like me?

I have a little sister who is 6. I Know she is little but she goes a little too far! My sister has some...er...privacy issues. She kinda stalks me. She goes where ever i go. She comes with me into town with my friends! Sometimes shes fun and sometimes she's nice to chill out with but im literally with her 24/7. And no i cant talk to my parents...they will just say wut they always say "she's ur flesh and blood and she is ur best friend" or something like that! HELP!!!!!

When I was a kid and I did something really stupid, I got my @ss kicked. Many of my friends got their @ss kicked to when they were kids and they turned out to be really smart and successfull people. Even though I got hit with a wooden spool on my hands, @ss, back of my legs, and hands, I thank my parents for that. If they didn't do that I would have probably turned out to be totally different. I'm not being racist here, but it seems like white kids are the biggest brats, and my theory is because the parents don't punish them properly. I know many of you will disagree with me, but with what I've experienced its really helped me in the longrun, your thoughts?

Yep, i'm beating this one like a dead horse. My 32 yo bf told me while I was 7 mos preggo that he didn't want to have anything to do w/ me or the baby even though we both wanted it. He said we we couldn't have it (I assume he wanted me to get an abortion). I explained to him that this was impossible and immoral and I would not do it) I thought we could work something out. He sent me a horrible e-mail the next day telling me to go f##k myself and that he had another gf and that she was preggo. Then he denied it 2 weeks later, but he doesn't call me anymore or check on me. What do you think happened? We'd been together for 2 years, this was a shock. Why wouldn't he have said something sooner? He works with his family and they don't even know? I'm have my theories but want other opinions.. I'm doing well financially and am very healthy, but my emotions are shot. My friends and family have been very supportive and I've been talking to a lawyer about child support.

First off let me just tell you im on my dad's side and i wanna live with him. Hes very very mad. His face is red right now. Anyway, today we went to see a new apartment that we were gonna move into. We get a room and a bath and share the kitchen and living room. So that means we are gonna move in with a guy. Now, from my mom's side its not a good idea. She doesnt wanna live in a room where theres 3 people. Then after we left me and my mom started screaming in the car. They were arguing, obviously. My dad has payed the rent and bills for about 3 years now. The first year my mom & dad worked together. Then my mom stopped working with my dad. My mom has been laying around, being on the computer and doing nothing. She didnt even try out for a job. Now heres the main part of this situation. My mom wants to take me and go back to our country. We have no house or anything there. She has no job. What are we gonna do there? Continues...
