I really like my children to be raised religiously. As a family (me,my husband, and my four daughters) go to church on sunday. During the week, my children read the bible and little children stories about our faith. We say prayers at every meal. Don't get me wrong, my children are allowed to go outside and jump on our trampoline or read Laura Ingall's or even go on a bike ride to the nearby store and pick out little toys.I just don't want my children watching tv too much. Twice a week we might watch a movie at night time. My children are not allowed to show disrespect. We drink seltzer, juice, and water i will not allow them to drink soda. I do make lemonade for them and they love it! My children's ages are 14, 12, 8, and 5. So far, they seem happy.

Id appreciate your opinion on our lifestyle. Please don't be rude.I'd like everyone to know that I love my kids.I truly do and raising them faithful will only improve their lives. This is not a cult we do many things.Thx for your opinion!

We adopted our youngest daughter from China. We are just a very loving, kind family. I think living a simple life builds character.

It is wonderful that you are taking time to observe what your children are taking in. We are what we "eat", spiritually and physically. We have also take our six children to church (although the older ones are on their own now, married, in university, etc., with the younger ones still at home.) We also homeschool and the children are very well rounded-they have chosen professions ranging from a Bachelor of Theology to studies in midwifery to cabinetmaking to computer science. In our family the best thing we can do is have a personal experience with the living God. Then the things we do to nurture our beliefs come alive to the children because we live what we believe. Ask God to reveal who He is and He will most certainly answer. The best summary I could think of when a friend asked why the kids were serving God was to "tell them the truth and pray for them." They will ultimately make the choice to follow God or not, but we can plant seeds and water.

If you think your kids are happy and you like the direction your family is doing, try to network with like minded families who will affirm your parenting style. Everyone will have an opinion, but you need to know in your heart that you are the best mother for YOUR children.

Blessings to you! -from Canada

I cant see what your problem is .Do your children seem happy your bringing them up as you want but if you need to ask others about it maby you are not sure yourself, if this is the way to bring them up.I do think they need a few more life experiences as children (besides the bible )to survive in todays world, but as i said if all are happy just carry on BUT if they get into the real world be prepaired for the backlash

As long as you are preparing them to live in the world, with people of all kinds of moral bearings, then you are doing ok. If you are trying to hide them from the world, or the world from them, especially the older ones, then you will be doing them a disservice. I have had to deal with kids who have been brought up in too isolated of homes and it does not work well when they get into the "real" world.

A simple small- town life is the best way to raise children. Barring that...spending time with them is the best way to understand and counteract the negative influences that enter their lives. It does, however, take time and effort on your part, but if you are willing to make the effort...

if you really wanted everyones honest opinion about your lifestyle, you would be open to all answers, even the rude ones. i think that once your children get out into the real world, you are going to be in for a rude awakening.
