my niece thinks that her real mother is actually her sister and her suppose to be grandmother is her mother, we need some advice on how to tell a 6 year old that her "sister" is actually her mother!!!!!! the real mother does not want no part in raising the girl as hers she already has 2 other children, that by the way they are telling her is her brother and sister. they are all thinking that they will never have to tell her the truth. i finally got my mother in law convinced that they should break the news while she's young, so maybe it won't be as hard. How do you explains a situation like this?? please help.

Do you think its right for my mom to babysit all the time? She thinks that if she doesn't that she'll lose the love from my brother and that one day she might need him and he won't help her. He's sometimes so mean to her too. That makes me so mad. She doesn't live near me so I can't see what's going on all the time but she cries alot.

My husband's step-mother and I have become quite close in the last few months. She loves books, so I would like to get her some sort of relational-type book like these
http://www.amazon.com/Why-Daughter-Needs-Mom-Reasons/dp/1581823800

http://www.amazon.com/Chicken-Soup-Soul-Celebrating-Daughters/dp/0757305903/ref=sr_1_1/104-5104465-5650329?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1175012159&sr=1-1

Those are specifically focused on mothers and daughters so they don't quite fit. Do they have any (nice) books specifically targeted towards daughter-in-law/mother-in-law relationships or even a book that is for someone special in your life that doesn't quite fit into the 'friend' category either?

Growing up i found that my single Mother 'leaned' on me for support. I was her confidant when i was 4 or 5 years old until my teenage years and perhaps longer but it varied as I left the ‘home’. I was told and saw a lot of stuff i couldn't understand as a child but thought I could, wanting to be an adult. My mom’s live-in boyfriend abused both my sister and me, I (12 yrs) told my Mother (my sister –7 yrs -did not) she stayed with this guy and excluded me from family ‘stuff’. Years later we found out that this guy also abused my sister, for years. Although my Mother is no longer with this man, i feel she has consistently put men and her vices before my sister and my needs were met. I love my Mother but i feel that she doesn't really love me. Yet she is trying to communicate with me/spend time together. I feel that I can’t forgive her. I feel overwhelmed with guilt of not wanting to communicate. Please, if you can shed some light on this for me. Thank you.

I lost my grandfather who is my mother's father. She works at the same place as I do so my co-workers knows that not only did my mom did lose her father but that means I lost my grandfather. So my co-workers got her a plant and sympathy card for her loss and guess what? They got me nothing! I feel offended that I'm left out or forgotten because did those people forget that man who died was not just my mother's father but my grandfather too. My grandfather was someone to everyone, my niece's great-grandfather, my uncle's father, he was a brother, cousin, uncle and a relative to everyone in my family. So my mom gets a plant from work and I don't? I don't get it why they forgot me? I am offended and hurt over this. How do I deal with it or approach my co-workers about this? I know my mom visited him so much, helping him when he was sick before he died and I stayed home and at work but he was still my grandfather too whom I loved.

I haven't asked a question on yahoo yet, but if i did I'd asked if chemical imbalance can cause voices that carry intelligent conversations, harass some one then all the sudden a crack or sound scarying it away, bring out a hate word distrupting my breathing, call my name. Yesterday when mom and dad prayed for me it touched my head. I told dad that and he asked me what else is it doing, then I felt something brush my back told him what it did, and it just kept knicking me in different places 4 or 5 times. It harasses and irritates. It uses negative to control me, re adjusts the way I lay down when sleeping, or sitting. It pinches, uses pain in the kidneys after mentioning that I aught to move. Just a second ago it touched my back near my kidneys, and then my face. Just a second a go it said punch your face and then a loud thud in the house went off. It's almost like someone has a remote control, and when the voices get too loud or out of line there will be a tap on the window, or a creak sound in the room. How long will this go on until I find out what it really is? I rather have it go away and not know it at all, never wanted to have anything to do with it I just never tried to tell it to go away. It said hurt your face, in a girls voice like Kathys, and now my ears are ringing. The symptons go on, but when it's gone so is the ringing and everything else. Almost like a scientist or someone watching giving me dosage of negative feelings in order for me to not dose off or daydream. It's sometimes hard to look people straight on because a few things will happen, my breathing contracting will quickly exhale followed by a blink and a negative word.
Well, I gotta go order these shirts. Talk to you later

She wasn't my favorite person in the world. She caused many family problems and I honestly don't have many good memories of her. Of course I feel bad for my husband as he will miss her very much. It was uncomfortable when everyone else was crying and offering sympathy to me and I didn't feel much grief.

16 years ago my father was charged and jailed with child molesting. He molested my cousin when she was just 8 years old. My father went to prison for 6 years. Our families were torn to pieces after what happened. Life became a living hell for all of us. When my father got out of prison my mother took him back. They've been living together for about six years now (unromantically..they live together for financial reasons) and other family members are angry over it. I have mixed feelings about it...afterall, the man is my dad. I typed a blog on Myspace about how I felt. My cousin(the one he molested) read the blog and got offended. Now our family is having a war with each other. I've tried everything I could possibly do to make things right, but I can't change the past or what my father did. How do I deal with something like this?

Through my married years my husband has had ups and down with money matters. His mother has given him quite a bit of money through the years and so has his brother. Because my husband and I fought over money matters in the past we sort of separated and I had my own account and pretty much paid for all my own things. I feel that some family members feel that I should pay money to his family members that loaned him money. What do you think? Because one is married, does that mean that everything your mate does or doesn't do is a reflextion on you. I am very depressed at this time over this. I have never borrowed money that I have not paid back. I have worked hard my whole life and feel very hurt that some people think I am not entitled to my Fathers inheritance and should pay my husbands depts with it.

OK. I live in an old house built back in the 70s. Its not that old, but there are some strange occurences. I would like to know if my house is haunted. OK, first story. Back when I was eight, i was laying in bed, and someone walked over to my bed, and dissappeared. Second story. It is 87 degrees outside right now, and probably at least 67 in the house. Everyonce in a while I will shiver, and my dog will bark. And i am not even cold! Third and last story. Last night, i was in my room playing games, and my brother was watching tv in my room, and all of a sudden my door slammed shut. Then open, then shut. Me and my brother just hid under the covers. There have been more, but these are the spookiest. My dogs also act really weird. Oh, and I forgot. Sometimes I see a white dog with black and brown spots in my yard. It plays with my dogs then dissappears. Are these evil or nice spirits? Do I have a sixth sense since somethmes i have dreams that happen? HELP ME!!!!

my grandparents, they are always grumpy with me and my family but with the other family they are fine, if we give them presents they send them back whereas they take presents etc from everyone else. Whenever they see me they always seem to give me evil looks and we can never have a laugh with them where oters from my family always say how funny it was when they saw them last! is it my family, have we done something wrong or is it just them being grumpy?

Yesterday I went to a friends house and she has a 14 year old daughter. Her husband(stepfather) started yelling at the girl because she did not want to get of the computer and she made a smart *** remark to him.She said later in the yell match that your not my father. He yelled well then ask your father to buy you a birthday present,or call, take you to school.Where is he?Now he knows thatthe child has difficulty coping with the fact that her father abadoned her.I told my friend that was a horrible display and that he scared her as she was crying and sobbing for her father. He does not think he did anything wrong nor does my friend.Am I overreacting or am I right to think that he is a first class creep.

I knew my bf had a girl roomate and it didnt bother me when we werent living together but we decided in November that it was time to take that step and live together. Since Ive been there she has changed, she dosent clean as much after her self and her guest, and when I moved in the apartment the only thing that I asked f or is that they wouldnt smoke in the house cause I have a 5 year old daughter. Well, i noticed one time when we came home that it smelled like smoke and I got really upset, the next day I was cleaning the living room up and I saw one of her jackets on the couch so I decided to put the jacket in her room. I went in thier and her whole room smelled like an ash tray, and I saw cigarette butts in cups, plates , on top of her t.v. I was disgusted !!! The next day I was doing laundry and we were all home including my BF, and I smelled smoke coming from her room. That was the last straw for me and something has to be done. My BF was pissed !

I have a sister in law that has children and lives by herself, she has no job, no car and when she first moved near my husband and I she had just left a bad realtionship and I offered to help her get around and got her a cell phone on our plan till she got on her feet. Well that was 2 years ago and she still doesn't have a job or a car and I have had to take her pretty much everywhere she has needed to go plus she keeps running up our cell phone bills, she pays us back for it but I feel like she is not grateful for the help I have given her. I plan on cutting her phone and making her get one for herself the only reason I have put up with this as long as I have is because of the kids. What should I do?

Take into concideration that I do not have the time or money to up and move. I moved out here to TX with my estranged father who I hadn't seen since 7 yrs. to get to know him. No one mentioned that his wife and his mother in law (who he lives with) are emotionally unstable, rude and lazy though. What should I do?

My sister in law thought that there was hidden money stashed away in her mother's account. An additional inheiritance to be split between her 3 "own" children that didn't have to be split with the 5 step kids. It wouldn't have been much. Mom did not have much.

She wanted my husband and her other brother to help her fight the executrix of the estate, to get their private windfall.
Unfortunately, her brothers had not heard of a private fund, and they refused to fight for it. They just told the executrix to pay all the bills outstanding, and then give them their equal share, divided 8 ways.

This was as 12 years ago. Even now, if we send this sister in law a birthday card, she sends it back. If we phone, she hangs up on us. She didn't even go to the brother's funeral a few years later.

Is there any way we can reach her? My husband would like to heal the rift.
