Every family has the outcast. In my family, it's my dad and I. No matter what the situation, we are always wrong and everyone always expects us to screw everthing up. I believe the reasoning for this is because of my father being an alcoholic. He screwed up his life and others, so the rest of the family seems to think that anyone that comes from him (me and other siblings) will end up the same way. It may not be from something that happened recently, but something the family has been holding onto for a long time. Who really knows though. The best thing is try talking to your grandparents or someone else in the family. You cant change old people no matter how hard you try, so don't expect things to change, but at least try to get a reason for this if possible.
Good luck

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. But this does NOT sound like behavior you would do on a consistent basis just because your grumpy! I think it's safe to say, although very sad, that they are definately holding some sort of grudge against your family! Talk to your parents to see if they can shed some light on what the problem is...where you ever close to them? Talk to the family members that they seem to be close to...someone has to have some sort of idea what the problem is. Have you tried talking to them directly..by yourself? If this continues, sad as it may be, it may be time to worry about finding happiness within your own family! I'd still go to visit them and send gifts, but just brush off their behavior....life is too short to let another persons childish behaviors, despite their age, bring them down!

Well... there was probably a misunderstanding that happened in the past or something that you didn't know... or they're probably just grumpy... the best thing to do is ask the 'others', as in the other family if they know something or if they know why your grandparents are avoiding you... if not, try asking your grandparents themselves... it might be tough... but it's better than having a bad relationship with them forever... good luck!

Not sure what you mean by other family but sometimes people aren't fair and no exceptions to families. It sounds like they have some issues with your family that they don't mind making sure you know. The sad part is we don't get to choose how other people feel about us so if they want to play favorites then let them. As long as you are prepared for it and don't give them the satisfaction of knowing that their stupid behavior is making you upset....and if they continue to act that way then you really don't want them in your life anyway. Hope this helps

This sounds so familiar. My grandparents are gone now, but I wish I would not of let them get away with such behavior. Why don't you just march up to them and politely state how you feel and ask if there is a problem? What do you have to lose.........Maybe their attitude? What is the worst that could happen? Go for it!

Something has happened. Find out what. If they were just grumpy, then they would be grumpy with everyone.
