Family - February 2007

Over the years I have nothing but heart and headache trying to be close to my parents. I have done everything, went into the military, put myself through school, and have tried to be successful, with little to no help from them. Now I am married, and when I am expect congregulations, I get nothing.

This just hurts me. I don't really want my wife to met my parents. I was married overseas. Truth is my wife and I don't know if we want to stay here in the US, or move and stay in Israel.

Just to describe my parents, my dad is my step dad. I have an older brother, a half sister, and four adopted brothers and sisters.

My wife doesn't want to met them because she feels they are mean. I am at a loss.

When i feel out with my mum a couple of years ago i wanted to go and live with my dad but my dad made it seem that he didnt want me. He sent me home and said i had to sort it out with my mum. Now my brother has gone to live with my dad as he feel out with my mum and my dad wanted him to live there. When ever me and my brother used to go out with my dad my dad used to forget me and all the attention went on my brother! Is this normal for dads to be like this or is it just my dad. Would like to know what you think. Thanks

My relatives wife died 1 month ago, he got another woman more or less straight away.She is now walking around wearing his deceased wifes clothes!The family (his daughters/sons) are going mad about it, saying its terrible and disrespectful to their dead mother.There is hell on about it.What do you all think about it. Right or wrong?

i have like a lot of problems with my mom. Last night, I had scissors in the bathroom, and I started to cut, and it hurts a lot, even if it wasn't bleeding, but it made a mark on my wrist. my mom does a lot of things to me that hurts.

1. I can't talk to her seriously.

2. She wouldn't let me start doing girl stuff(like shaving on my legs coz she think i'm being too vain)

3. When I say the phrase 'get tampons'. She goes like 'What!?' coz she never used it before.

4. She says 'You can date but guys should ask you out at out house.'

5. She goes in to my diaries and reads it.

6. She keeps on checking on my Myspace profile.

7. When I have my period, she won't let me skip Gym, coz she says 'You have to go through it like I did.'

8. She won't let me lock myself in my room, AND she doesn't even want me to lock the stupid door.

9. She never waited for me to go watch a movie.

10. She never talks to my Dad. They are not divorced, and she won't talk to us about it.

well am new in the uk and we living with my brother and dad but the later likes terrorising us at home,reaching to an extent of slapping me,he drinks alot and likes to beat dad as well, i've just discovered that hes been doing this even before i joined them so,please help me with what i should do,coz dad had been scared to report him to the police that they won't do any help,please help me am really living in fear of what he can do to us and the neighbours in future.

Let me say first my mum is the most loving and caring person in the world it is because of her that i have learned to be a great mother as i just followed in her foot steps.
OK my dad is an alcoholic and my mum wasnt but she drank with my dad alot in the end she was drunk by 11 am every.She is very dependant on my father,her mum died when she was 19 and dad became her carer in a way.Mum never got a licence so she is always very bored, trapped inside four walls with 3 teenage kids and an arseh0le husband!Any way one day she imbarresed her self so bad she said she was giving up the drink for good all us kids got excited we only dreamed of this day.Now we have got used to always having happy normal smart caring mum everyday and she always bring up drinking and acts upset that she cant do it.she says things like
'when i die i hope you know i had a miserable life because of you arseh0les"how do i make her understand it for the best? alcohole has made us miserable for far too long!

please i really need some advice , when i was younger i was sexually abused by my dad and although my mum had an idea it was going on and never reported him for it anyway the B*****D emigrated to new zealand when i was 10/11 he onced phoned me when i was 17 and said a leopard can change it's spots and that he is a changed man and i had not so nice words to say to him .. anyway 2 days ago i got a phonecall from my sister to say that she is going to move over to nz with my 2 nieces who are 10 and 12 to be near him even though she knows what he did to me i need to know if anyone knows any way i can stop her taking them she is not with their dad so i cant contact him they spit up when the girls were babies .. i have told her she is sick in the head but she said she wouldnt allow it to happen to her girls like mum did to me

My husbands sister who was only 29-year-old died of cancer last year.They really close to each other.. best friends.He is really sensitive about,and avoids talking about her.If any other members of his family are having a chat about her,remembering her in a funny moments..he just leaves the room.I know its hard..wanna help him..tried to talk about it ..but absolutely no results.

i have 2 kids elder is just 3yrs,i fulfill my kids's needs and hubby's ,i love doing things for them always,,but when im alone i start thinking abt my self and wanting to do something ,,i cant really do what i like to do.time is main problem,i was doing a job and i like to do again ,,,i cant understand whats inside me ,,whats happning to me what shud i do??

Shes ridiculous. She is old and annoying. She lives with my dad, brother and i and i cannot stand her. She thinks she runs this place, but the only reason why she is here is because she went broke and my dad wants to help her out. All i want is for her to get the hell out of here and i am trying to show my dad that she is doing nothing but create problems, but he doesnt see this. All she does is nag about how my dad runs his life and makes things up to tell her daughter (my aunt.) My aunt then tells my gram to write down what she needs and wants. My dad does the best he can, but he i dont feel like putting up with her b.s. and neither does my brother. I constantly find myself and brother fighting with her. All i want is my dad to get rid of her already...any ideas on how to plot this out?!

one of my friends is always depressed this time of the year for having lost her dad ...its been abt 5 years and she is still depressed. she says she was mad at him and said she hated him on the day he died. now she wished that she could have said she loved him when she had a chance. she was a young teen and rebellious. so plz help me out to help her out by telling her the right things... i cant see her depressed like this...

My friend's son is 5 and is very interested in the ladies. he loves looking at his mum's clothing catalogues esp the lingerie/swimwear, he likes playing with his sister's barbie dolls (always removing their clothes), in the shops with his mum the other day when she was getting him a comic he had a tantrum because she wouldn't get him a lads mag. the other day when I was over there with my gf, he was all over her, sitting on her lap, trying to touch her breasts (she was showing a lot of cleavage, big mistake). My friend is worried. Should they see a psychiatrist or is this just a phase. Anyone remember from their own childhood whether this is normal. I don't think I was like this until about 10 at the earliest

I'll try to make this as short and simple as possible, but the history of this relationship is just a total mess...

Basically, my mom and I have NEVER gotten along, not since I was born (literally). My mom has always resented me and always been very jealous of me. Even my grandma (my mother's mom) had said so. I've been verbally, mentally, emotionally (and sometimes physically) abused by my mother since I was a kid. If it weren't for my maternal grandma and my Pops, I'd probably have killed myself so many years ago, but these two amazing people helped me see who I REALLY am and to remain strong and overcome the hardships I'd been through.

Now is the hard part: I need to break with my mom. I've tried to break contact with her before, but I always go back because she makes my life even MORE miserable by telling insane lies about me to the rest of the family in an attempt to isolate me.

I was a merchandiser, 1.5 months back i changed my line due to not getting enough money and job in that field. I have been shifted to secreterial field. Now problem si that in this job i'm so idle, so free, just don't have any work to do. So, I started surfing yahoo answers. one day i ask a quest. on i this and a guy reverted bak to me on my messenger, by mistake i forgot to cancel my id from that. Then in a day he started liking me and we become good frens. Let me tell u I'm 25 and married for 3yrs.I love mu hubby alot and same is from that side. But thsi guy told me that he love me..and he was getting serious day by day. he has never seen me, but due to my nature and my thinking, he started loving me. I don't know wat was the problem but i was not able to leave him. actualli i was so much free, so use to hear hi. But when i started feeling guilty that i have not told it to my hubby, that i'm getting attracted to anotherguy

10 years ago my grandma got put into an assisted living nursing apartment. She lives on her own but it is just an apartment place for older people. When this happened my mom went to meet her sister and they filled out paperwork to put the house in their names. My mom's brother lives in what use to be my grandmas house. My mom works FT and makes less than 18,000 a year meanwhile my aunt the one who my mom met to fill out this paperwork makes over 60,000. My mom gets the house tax every year for 600 bucks for the house my GRANDMA does not even live in. My mom's brother lives there who makes more money than my mom. My brother is 17 and they have no money saved for him to go to college and my mom's car is unreliable but they cannot afford a new one. I am 25 and live on my own but it really irritates me that my mom pays this. Should I e-mail my aunt (lives far away) to confront her. My mom said she did not know she would be getting this bill when they signed the paper.

I always wonder why when my bf goes to get his daughter he never let me see his baby mother. The other day when his baby mother came to drop her off he meet them downstairs and then later I went with him to take her home and he told me to wait in the train station. I dont like it because I always feel like he is hiding something. Before when we started dating and his baby mother came over and I was on my way over he would tell me not to come, or to wait in some store. It was only one time that he actually didnt tell me to hide and it was when I confronted him about it, but he still do it and it wasn't like he introduced us. I was just wondering is that a problem or am I just reading into it to muc? Serious answers only please

If someone has been drinking & smoking for 25 years & is clean for 2-3 years, do they still have the urge to smoke or drink?? If your a recovred alchoholic or drug user, how did you quit & how hard was it? Im curious because my dad is a Alchoholic & a crack addict & has been in and out of jail. He is serving 3 years now, and everytime he goes in he tells me he will change & then when he gets out he stays clean for awhile and then its a repeated cycle. Thanks for awnsering =]
