When i feel out with my mum a couple of years ago i wanted to go and live with my dad but my dad made it seem that he didnt want me. He sent me home and said i had to sort it out with my mum. Now my brother has gone to live with my dad as he feel out with my mum and my dad wanted him to live there. When ever me and my brother used to go out with my dad my dad used to forget me and all the attention went on my brother! Is this normal for dads to be like this or is it just my dad. Would like to know what you think. Thanks

I always thought the saying was "Daddy's little girl". My kids are all treated equal...well "equal". We are a little harder on our girls just because. Maybe your dad just feels more comfortable with your brother. Maybe he can find more things to do with him.

I don't think all dads are this way. I am sorry that yours happens to be. There could be many reasons why he is acting like this. He may feel like you remind him so much of your mother that it isn't easy for him to deal with. Alot of fathers relate better to a son than a daughter. They feel they have more in common with their son. It may be hard for him to understand you, some men don't relate to women the way they should. None of these reasons are good but they are possibilities. Maybe you should write him a letter(don't try to do it face to face, it may make him more uncomfortable) explaining to him how much pain he has caused you over the years by pushing you aside. Reading it may cause him to open his eyes and realize what he has done to you. It may not affect him at all, but to me it would be worth the effort. Just knowing that I let him know how he has made me feel over the years would help alot. You can only do so much. Keep your head up, things will work out the way they are intended to.

No My dad didn't he spoiled my sis more hehe. He probably wants to straighten him out or teach him how to be a man, maybe he wants to teach him how to play sports and stuff and let the mom take care of you more because she would be better at showing a girl, girl stuff. Don't take it personal he wants to make the boy a man and live through his sons eyes, its like he can relate to how he was when he was young. Some guys are also afraid they might not know how to take care of a girl in the right way. A boy needs a father figure, your dad doesn't want him to grow up girly and only live with girls.

I think it depends on if your dad bonded with you while you were a baby.
My dad bonded with me but not my brother, which resulted in a "daddys little girl" relationship - Fantastic for me, not so for my brother.
It also can depend on if he had a good relationship with the females in his family like his mum, sisters, your mum etc...
You might remind him of that past experience which is why he unconsiously treats you this way.

Well there is three of us and my younger sister is Daddys little girl and my brother is his pride and joy. I am the oldest and I have always felt like I was on the outside looking in. We are grown adults and it is still like this.

Your dad seems to be having some problems. Normally dads dote on their daughters, though when it comes to biking, hiking, baseball etc., they prefer the boys.
