Family - January 2007

In the last 7 or 8 years my dad has been really rough on me. For example, I bought new shoes the other day and the first thing he said was "they are going to look stupid with your pants". Also, I catch him staring at me and when I ask why he's doing it, he says that he wasn't staring, but he obviously is. I'm a good son and we get along alot but he talks down to me alot too. It's like nothing is good enough that I do. What is your take on this?

Ok so...my boyfriend doesn't have money all the time. He really doesn't have a job. he works with his dad. So he doesn't have to go to work all the time. So its kinda weird when he does have money; and when he does have money he'll spend it on stupid stuff and that puts me in a situation where I have to always spend money on us because he knows that I make good money. Then when he wants to do something on the weekends, I always say that I dont want to do anything because I know that I'm gonna have to pay for it. WHAT SHOULD I DO!??

He was aware that the child was born and that he was the father but chose to not participate, now he wants to be a part of his life. He has never been on record as the father (not on birth certificate and I have never filed a child support order.)

Im 17 and living in california. I have read a substantial amount of information about emancipation and they all basically state the same rules. I am going to be 18 in august, and although i do not currently have a job i have heared that certain assets might cover that section of emancipation. what are they? My dad left my family and my mom lives with her sister. i am living with my grandmother. My mom is trying to make our lives better however i know that i can do a better job of taking care of myself. do i have to be in immediate danger or have to have a explicit reason to be emancipated?, or if i prove that i can pull my own weight does that automatically mean i can be emancipated? I would also like to know how long the process takes. I have about 7 months to go and i can do alot in 7 months. If anyone can just tell me what the judge is particularly looking for, or if anyone can tell me what is the main thing i need to watch out for in this process. There is violence or drug abus

I live quite happily on my own, and have been going to see my parents once a week for many years. I normally spend around 3-5 hours there. However, I seem to be find myself getting bored there quickly and running out of things to talk about, mainly because not a great deal has happened since my last visit. What doesn't help, is that my dad has now got into the habit of coming to visit me once a week, even if I only saw him a few days prior to him coming. I love them to bits, and don't want to sound ungrateful, but I really want to either cut the length of my visits or cut down the frequency. I don't want to be hurtful, but at the same time it's got to the point where some weeks I just don't enjoy going over there. My weekly visits have been very habitual over 10 years or so, so any change now will seem quite dramatic. How often do other people who've left home visit their parents, and how long for?

My son is 24 years old, and he lives with me . I am Ok with that. He recently got out of the military. His girl friend who lives one hour away, has dicided to move , to be close to him.She has accepted a job here, but has made no effort to find a place to stay. I know that she is planning, to come here to my home each night to stay, but I am against it. She is a sweet girl, and I like her very much, but my gut says NO to this.
In the past, she has driven the 60 miles each weekend to stay here.

My son is attending a junior college, and is not working. She is in debt for $30 K+, and works a minimum wage job. She presently is living with her mother and brother.

Am I being selfish, as my son says I am. ? Should I let her move in. ?
As for me, I am 65 years old, divorced 20 years, and retired.

ok I have this friend and last summer her parents started fighting ALOT then they got a divorce and now she HATES her Dad cuz of the divorce and thinks its all his fault but I know for a fact that it wasnt!! Hes a really nice guy,hes like asecond father to me!! I grew up playing at his house with the other kids that were there(he was open to foster kids and day care) She said he changed and he's really mean but hes not! The divorce hurt me too! Her family was like my family to....so I dont understand why she hates him so...even when I told her "it takes two to fight and two to forgive" She still hated him. and she said that her Mom only married him so they could have a place to stay and a place they could have a dog....so wouldnt that mean they were just useing him?!?! and not the other way around!! I love her like a sister but I also love her Dad like a father. She doesnt want me to talk to her dad any more but, I knew him way longer then her but then again I dont want to hurt her!!

ok, the preacher's wife is being really biased. she is literally trying to make her 2 daughters the center of attention, all of the time. i am not jealous, because there are others even adults who see it. and they agree with me. she only wants her daughters to have solos and be section leaders etc. and the daughter whine to her and get their way all of the time. even if it means hurting one of the church members. how do i address this problem that has been going on for so so long?

what do you do with a sixteen year old who drinks. Probably every weekend. Not falling down drunk, unless he's really good at hiding it. It seems he only has a little. Most of the times it's not that evident, it's more instinct that proof. Though he does admit he drinks. He says "I've worked hard at school all week, I deserve a few on weekends" That rationalization has a ring of an alcholic.Is there any steps to stop this. Driving license is just around the conor. Alcohlics on both sides of the familys, much afraid this is the path he is heading for. His answer is he has it under control and will never become an alcohlic becase it is a choise not an addiction.

My husband's family is from one state and my family is from another state. He wants to be buried with his family and vice versa. Ok, I have two childern (I had twins), and about 4 months after I had them the father ran off. Shortly afterwards I went to Public Aid to try and get help for child support. My kids are know 14 months old, and I still haven't received anything. When I call and ask whats up, they tell me he quit the job he had. He has done this quite a few times, and they tell me there is nothing they can do about it. Now the last time I talked to them, they told me that they no longer know where he's at. So while I'm at home taking care of two childern he's out sleeping around, riding his motorcycle, and having a good time. I don't think it's fair, and I'm doing all I can think of Just so I can get back on my feet, but it doesn't seem to be good enough. And to top it all off someone has been vandilising my car. Broke side merror, slashed my front tire, and dented my hood. I have no money, and can't get my kids into a daycare so I can go look for a job. I just dont know what to do, can any one help me?

My girl lives with her parents, I live with my mom and money is tight. We watch tv and movies and fall asleep doing that. We are going to the bar tonight but I cant go out like this all the time. She said that just being with me is good enough, but she doesnt like staying over my place because of my mom and I dont like being at her house all the time because Im sure her parents dont want me there that much even though they like me. We are a pretty serious couple, we want to get a place together in the summer. Im just worried she will get bored of the same old thing. So you see we are very restricted, will this inevitably hurt our relationship. I want to trust that if she loves me that being with me is enough.

I have a half brother. His name is John Kowalsky Jr. His father's name (my father) is, obviously John Kowalsky. He is around 21 or 22. He lives in Dearborn, Michigan. I believe. my boyfriend and i have been together for almost 2 years now.. we live together and everything is going great.. my parrents are finally starting to like him and welcome him more into their home. the only thing is he has 2 kids which i love..jayvier(5) and dessenya(6).my mother is aware of the situation but my father is not. he's a very serious strict man. i want him to know but i don't want to lose him. what should i do should i wait to tell him more or get this weight off my chest and deal with the consequences? helpp me.. My mum is constantly on about my weight I'm only about 5 pounds overweight but she keeps telling me I'll die if I don't do anything about it.
My little brother has special needs and he beats me up and gets away with everything.
My dads always grumpy.
My gran calls me fat and humiliates me infront of my Friends and family by making me feel really fat.
The only peson who really cared for my was my Grandfather whose now dead please help me!!!
