The couple lived together 6 years, the child is 4 and the mother was the only one who ever worked and the house, utilitities, and car were all hers and in her name. Her parents are the ones who gave all the help, now the father wants equal custody even after he did nothing and has showed all kinds of violence. since the split? After they have been apart for 5 months, the guy still doesn't work, lives with his parents, is doing drugs(which we can't prove), and is becoming more and more violent towards his parents every day, only they keep protecting him so help right now is not an option. Also, what kind of rights do the grandparents have?

My husband and I desperatly want custody of his 4 1/2 yr. old daughter since her mother keeps neglecting her both physically and emotionally. She almost cries when we drop her off, since her mom has primary residence custody. She's told us of so many things that her mom and her mom's boyfriend do to her so we placed a report with Child Protective Services in the summer and they didn't do anything about it. We don't have the money for a lawyer, how can we do something so that her fulll custody is granted to us?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for over two years and I'm 18, almost 19. While I was at college this fall, my boyfriend spent the night at my dorm all the time and my parents knew. Now that Im back, everytime I spend the night at my boyfriends place, my parents freak out and try to take things away from me (car keys) so that I'll still listen to them. Ive been dating him for so long that I thought they would be use to this and that its not that big of a deal. Everytime I try to talk to them they just treat me like a child. How can I convince my parents that I can spend the night at my boyfriends place? I feel like they'll never stop treating me a child ever.

I am 35 yrs old, have 3 girls and I am married. My mom still tries to tell me what to do with my children and I can't take it anymore. I am not the type to disrespect her because she brought us up better than that. I am a very emotional person and I don't know how to talk to her about this. For example, my daughter had a christmas concert that my mom knew about a week before time and then the last day she says she can't make it because she had company coming over. 2 days later was my daughters birthday party and my mom calls to tell me she can't make it because it's the only time she can go to bingo. She is sounding so much like her mother was. She takes my daughter to school because I have no one else that can, so how can I talk to her without getting her really mad and then decide not to take her to school anymore. And yes, I give her gas money to do this!

Its way less stressful than living with a family member although I don't want to live with my bf or my family. My parents are very spiteful, greedy, and selfish and my boyfriend just needs to grow up. Where am I going to go?? I can't afford to live on my own because I'm in school and pay out of my pocket and I work full time. What am I going to do??

for how they treated him. How can I get over this and not judge? I know parents are not perfect, but one thing in particular he told me was just heartbreaking. He shared these deeply personal things with me and said above all he wanted me to support him and I want to,but I just feel uneasy about his parents now.

My sister would always try to outdo me. And my mom would try to take it away. When they get stuff so extravagant, I don't do that to them.

I'm 13, mom makes me wear bras I don't like. She's very caring and somewhat overprotctive, so she makes me wear bras with much support, thick material and 4 hooks in the back. It's out of love, she's a great mom, we have a wonderful relationship, but those bras make me sweat, I don't like the. I did everything I could t talk her out of them, nut she didnt chanhe her mind. she always says Hun, it's for your best, I love you..If I don't fighty, or disobey or do something I usually don't then I'm stuck to those bras until I'm 18. And if I fight or disobey I don't know what will happen, she may punish me, though she's a very nice and understanding mom and the last time I got grounded was 2 years ago. I don't know if it's her right to punish me if I disobey, but anyway she'll get hurt and I don't want this. My dad passed away and this is another reason to avoid fights. I talked to other moms and all of them told me to be patient and wear those bras, it's not worth fighting over this

I have been wanting to change my last name for a long time. mainly because I really hate my Father. But my parents severely object to it even though I'm almost 19 and moving out in two weeks. They have said that they will take me out of the will if I do this. However, I'm not really sure my Father even has a will and that it's possibly just a way of intimidating me. Should I do it anyway?

My younger sis and I are grown up so we should be old enough to stop having fights like the one we did last night. She had our TV on really loud and I asked her to turn it down or turn it off. She didn't do either so when I got up to do it she punched me in the face. It wasn't super hard, but I was pissed and really hurt at her lack of respect. Anyways with the holidays coming up I really don't want to buy her anything, but I don't want to ruin the holiday for the rest of the family either. What do I get her for Christmas?

this has always bugged me: A few years ago, I got invited to my aunt and uncle's house for Christmas Dinner, along with the rest of my immediate family. When the time for dinner came, my aunt told me that there wasn't enough room for me at the "Adults" table and I'd have to eat downstairs with the kids, the oldest of whom was 14. I was 23 at the time. I was pissed off, but very calmly said that if that was the case, then I was going to go eat at another relatives' house. That started a whole big fight, my aunt and uncle called me selfish, some of the females were crying, it was a whole big scene. In the end, I stayed, becasue someone made room for me at the table.

What bugged me was that my aunt and uncle had invited me seperatly from my family, then treated me like a kid, even thought they have always been sticklers about adults sitting at one table, kids at another. Was I wrong to react the wayI did? Should I have just sucked it up?

A close family friend just told me he's HIV +. He is a gay male who has lived a risky life.

I didn't know what to say when he told me and I feel bad. He asked me not to be afraid to hug him but I was so caught off guard that I just stood there.

What have you done when someone just sprang some surprising news on you?

My husband and I just got back from our two week honeymoon a little over three weeks ago. Four days ago we got a phone call from his Ex saying that she is moving 4 states away and doesn't want their son anymore. Before all of this my husband would only see his son every other weekend and if that. I am worried about how the son will adjust to a whole new family and plus losing his mother and half brother within 48 hours who he has lived with his entire life.

Last night he asked where his mommy was and that he wanted to go back to her. He is 4 years old.

I cannot believe she gave up her son for some guy in another state who she has just started talking to for a couple of weeks now. During the divorce she fought and fought to get full custody of the son and now just like that she is giving him away

I was wondering if anyone has ever gone through this and how I should introduce the son this Christmas to my side of the family?

Thank You

Lately I get the sense that my mother-in-law really doesn't like me. She used to be my best friend, and now she acts as if she would rather not be around me. My husband and I worked really hard to move to her area, and now that we are there I think she would prefer that we were 1000 miles away again. We used to do fun things with them when we would visit, and we were always invited to their parties, and now she doesn't even tell us that she is having a party until it is over. The thing is, that now that we live here, I could care less if she is having a party with her own friends, they are not my friends, so I don't know why she would think we would want an invitation to the party now. What bothers me is that she thinks that she has to do it behind our backs. She does the same thing about going out to dinner. It is as if she thinks we will always invite ourselves to go along, but we have our own lives. Am I taking this too personally, or should I move?

My family is coming over to the trailor park for XMas. We've rented some spaces for their RV's and Campers, but I really can't handle them.

My aunt is nearly 800 pounds and my momma is 600 pds. Together they eat nearly $1000 worth of Food Stamps, and how am I going to feed the rest of the family? My Uncle is bringing his strange girlfriend over, and my son and daughter are both bringing thier respective lovers.

Even though my daughter is in love with my neighbors dog. Should I feed him Kibbles and Bits? And what should I do about my Senile Grandma? She always wants to fly like the reindeer, and we can't keep her off the roof.

My Sister won't stop feeling me up in front of my wife and girlfriend, and what should should I tell her husband, my father?

Aarrggh, the holidays are so difficult. What can I do?

My husband had an affair about 10 months ago and now he is always making excuses when we go to bed at night, saying something must be wrong with him like protate cancer, do you think he just does not want to make out with me, or does he have something else on his mind? He says he does not see that woman anymore, he says it was a one night stand.

I have an uncle, he is about 55 and he has parkinsons disease, he has no insurance and we live in Idaho. He has to take alot of medicine. He always forgets to take his medicine, and he confuses himself on which meds to take. He is constantly having hallucinations. My dad, mom, brother, my cousin, and I are my Uncle's only family. My parents are always working, my cousin, brother and I go to school. We were thinking of hiring a person to take care of him, but it was priced at $1000 a week, and we cannot afford that, plus we live in a tiny town and we would have to hire someone from a city 200 miles away. My uncle also will not go to a nursing home or anything like it, he is extremely attached to the house, it was where he was born and raised. There was something like a necklace/bracelet that when he needs help he pushes the button, but we are afraid he would always push it because he just wants company. My family goes down there as much as we can, but he always wants more. Any Ideas?
