Family - December 2006

Ok this is insane. I know I did some things to loose my parents trust. And I admitt I needed to do the time for it, but now for years I've tried building it back up. Now when they are gone, they think I play in things. Last night I made some reesee cups and put them in the fridge for them to eat, but my mom yelled at me when the rest of the family got home. She said I was playing in stuff, and started yellign at me to clean. I ended up throwing my cups away before she found them. It makes me feel unwanted. She makes me feel like crap. I really want a lock on my door so I can change and what ever, but she dosn't trust me on this computer. Shes a idiot I tell you. I can't do anything! I wanna run away or commit suicide! She's trapping me and won't stop! I've tried nicely talkign to her, but my dad or her won't listen to me! I hate my life, no one cares!

Of course I asked her about it and she is like "what are you talking about" and "thats crazy". Almost as if she doesnt even know she is doing it. But everytime we have friends and family over she talks to me as if Im slow and she makes a fool of me. Also Im a college student majoring in biology and she is not supportive with my decision. And whenever people ask me "do you think you can make it, its kind of a hard field and its long?", she interjects and says "well, I dont think so, thats her life.."! But the funny thing is that when everyone is gone, she is completely cool, calm, and collective. Why is she taunting me and constantly putting me down in front of others? Does this happen to anyone else? Any ideas on how to deal? I'm starting to feel like she really does not like me out of all her children.

On average, how close does an emotionally healthy uncle get towards a newborn niece and nephew? i.e. how often do they visit, do they get involved with the nitty gritty? (changing nappies) and what is the bond like? I'm finding it difficult to establish an emotional bond towards my new niece and nephew (they haven't done anything wrong to me). Its a horrible sensation as I feel I can't convey "family love" towards them. To me, they're just babies, and normally I try to avoid babies. I have tried to take an interest in them but I'm really struggling. It seems like a lot of hard work, and yet I'm not feeling anything.

One person says I'm normal, as they never got involved with their niece/nephews. Someone else says I need to play an active part e.g. babysitting, doing nappy changes, holding and cuddling them etc.

My dad is nuts. He's too brash and whenever I'm doing homework, he tells me to stop doing it and start practicing the piano. I've been playing for nearly 6 years but this year was the time I started noticing my dad became very weird. Before, I practiced once in a while but now, he seems to be overcome with the sudden urge to make me practice everyday for 2 hours. I'm just an average teenager who is Grade 6 in piano. Isn't this a bit harsh? And my dad also says that he doesn't care if I pass my homework to the teacher or not.He says music is the most important thing and he seems to have it in his head that I'll become his "precious" musician when I grow up.My mom suffers because she's been yelled that she's good for nothing because he can't get me to play the piano and she can't do a thing about it.I love playing the piano sometimes but this is ridiculous.I want to become a doctor but he seems to think otherwise.Still in High School.He's already hurting people...what do I do?

...in our country (UK), where we will stalk for alleged paedophiles, scream and lap up red-top papers with their stories about child abuse - most of them jazzed up to fire up readers - and generally pull hooded-eyed faces at polite schoolteachers and headmasters who yearn for intellectual development of our bairns...and that only. Why, then do we refuse to pay maintenance after separation, or use them for our own use (id est; to impress officials when they have to make decisions on who gets - by now - 'Terrified Teresa' for keeps. Will the current plan to get whup absent parents into action be good - or make situation even worse...in the UK, we love our children...don't we? Looks like many may beg to differ.

Do you think it's fair for a woman to take half of the dad's paycheck for childsupport? He isn't a deadbeat dad. He doesn't owe back support or anything like that. Her and her husband both have great jobs. But with all the money they take out of the father's check he can't afford to pay his rent or he can't even pay for food. She is planning on taking him back to court for even more money. Do you think this is fair?

This is the first Christmas I won't be spending with her. But I have already given her personalized stuff (photo album, etc.). She likes the kitchen and gardening, but is getting to old to do them any more. And she's not very up to date with today technology (and too stuborn to learn).

my son is 13 and I'm suer he's probably at the point where things start happening. My younger sister is going through a bad time..just moved somewhere new, lives with someone who is incompatible, and wants to talk about it all the time. im running out of ways to console her. she is overseas, and i feel so helpless when she is upset about something that happened to her. she is used to having her boyfriend and friends around, and this whole thing is making her doubt her capacity as a an independent person. on top of it, she just went there for school, and she wont be done for 3 more years.

I'm 31 now, but when I was a TEENAGER, I was out of control, always going out late, bad grades in highschool & often disrespected & disobeyed my parents. Now that I'm a mature adult, I have changed alot & ended up going to college & getting a license in Nursing. When I turned 21, i started being independent, learned how to make a living & pay my own bills.

I don't get along w/my mom's side of the family (since my mom passed away 10 yrs ago). All they do is talk S H I T about me & tell my little cousins to not hang around me becuz I use to be a "bad teenager". They say I have that bad reputation. I wish that they would look at my good characteristics, the person that I am today & the successful person that I grew up to be. I wish that they did'nt judge me becuz of my past & use me as a bad example to my younger cousins, becuz they do....tell my cousins to not talk to me. I wish they would just stop & get to know me, becuz I am not a teenager anymore =(

I absolutely hate & despise my Mom's side of the family. She's got so many brothers & sisters that they often fight, don't speak w/eachother for a good 10 yrs & worse, they involve their children (who are cousins) who can't even feel comfortable enough to hang out w/eachother because their parents are all in an argument w/eachother & are influencing to stay away from eachother just becuz of their arguments? My mom's side of the family are a bunch of liars & gossipers. They have no interest in anyone's life what so ever, then to find out what they think is juicy gossip they can talk about & when they see you in person, they act all sweet & innocent? WTF? It just makes me so mad that I know I never want to be around them or become like them. Why is that we can't trust even our own relatives sometimes? why is it that even though they are your family, they have the nerve to hurt & stab you in the back when your not looking? I thought family should be sticking together & helping?

Hi well I've never told anybody this and I think I should so that i dont hold it in any longer.When i was 5 i was raped by my dad up until i was 7. 3 yrs of that now of course im 17 and ive had 8 dad's.My mom was a crackwhore and died 2 yrs ago.Ive been abused by my third dad.Our bigest fight was when he pushed my mom when she was pregnant and well needless to say i got pretty ****** pissed.Whenever i get in a fight with my boyfriend i always get torchered because of the fact my mom was a crackwhore.I have a stupid little foster care sister who trys to act like me shes 13.lol the funny thing is shes had exactly 205 email adresses making stupid little questions.It makes me very angry because she thinks it would be cool to have a life like mine and i know for a fact that it ****** sucks! I used to get abused too but my abuse stopped at age 12. Her dad and mother still beat her up with a belt. And her bro who is 20 years old he abuses her too. Abuse has become a normal thing for her. my brother is 15 i'm 13..he controls me alllllll day long..he comes in my room all the time looks through my stuff if i even try to go in his room he hits me..and this morning my celll was flipped open to my texts..so i knew he came in while i was sleeping and read all of them (they were personal!)..he stares at everything i do to make sure i dont make a mess..he says i make messes all day.when i don't hes just a clean freak and over reacts.i can't have any privacy at all because of him. . . he comes up to me like a retard and is all like wut r u gonna do..and pushes me..he picks me up over his shoulders and almost dropped on stone floor. I am a hairstylist and so is my sister, she has been doing my Mothers hair for years. with in the past year her and my mom had many disagreements. She told my mom she would not do her hair anymore. (Childish)! So I took over and did her hair. Mom Forgave her and she went back to doing her hair again! Just about 8 months ago my sister had a another fight with mom and said my mom needed to call me and get me to do her hair she was not doing her hair anymore? So I have been doing Moms hair for about 8 months now. Just 2 days ago Mom calls me and says I saw your sister today at the salon and she did my hair, my sister claims to give me a break? lol... I went to my moms house every friday to do her hair. So, My mom told me she is going back to my sister.. I said FINE! I feel very hurt because I was there when my mom needed me every time my sister decided she did not wanna do moms hair and play her childish games, when my mom is 78 yrs old... am I over reacting?
