My younger sister is going through a bad time..just moved somewhere new, lives with someone who is incompatible, and wants to talk about it all the time. im running out of ways to console her. she is overseas, and i feel so helpless when she is upset about something that happened to her. she is used to having her boyfriend and friends around, and this whole thing is making her doubt her capacity as a an independent person. on top of it, she just went there for school, and she wont be done for 3 more years.

Just tell her to get out and live her life. Moping around and whining is making her miserable, nothing else.

Be there, support her, but most of all support yourself emotionally. Sounds like she is bogging you down with her problems and you are really stressed. Try to get her to come home and attend college closer to you. If the situation get too bad hopefully she will leave. I would just focus more on your problems and happiness and don't let her control every conversation with sad stuff. Life is way too short so she should make smart decisions to be happy.

You just have to let her know that things will get better and not to panic. You live and you learn. We all have road blocks and bumps but she's going to learn how to be independent. She has to find a way to release stress in a positive way, get a hobby, or something. *Much Luck*
