i don't think you need to talk to your son about this , my son at 13 knew more about masturbation and sex than i knew..lol
and it would embarrass him and probably you to . just be cautious about walking in his room without knocking and if he locks his door to his room don't freak out. i don't care what people might tell you it's just natural to experiment sexually with our bodies when we reach puberty i did and i am sure you did to , so just relax.

Masturbation is something all men do at all ages...even before puberty. Emissions come with puberty but playing with yourself starts shortly after birth. There's nothing wrong with masturbation, either on a moral or physical basis. It is natural. Animals do it. People do it, both sexes. There is even a school of thought that teens who want to become sexually active should limit themselves to masturbating each other...cuts down on stds and pregnancies. For some reason, most men have a great deal of trouble talking about masturbation. Books are the best suggestion. Ask the father to reconsider.

I don't think women should be too involved in s-x education for their sons.
You might find - anyway - he knows all about it. If he says something openly about something, you could raise the topic if his step-father doesn't, otherwise leave it alone.
I've never forgotten how a simple question about the 'cotton wool thinggies' we bought in packets for my mother resulted in a LONG, v EXPLICIT description of menstruation and the effects the hormonal changes can have at "that time of the month"! Way more than a boy could bear, or ever want to know!

If I were you, I would leave the masturbation talk alone. No teenage male will acknowledge that he does it. The fact is, he would probably flat out deny it to is father if you decided to go that route.
Talk to him about being responsible about sex...if you are comfortable with that. But leave the masturbation talk alone. He'll figure it out on his own (if he hasn't already...it's not hard and we're inclined to do it biologically anyway), and all you will do by approaching the subject is embarass him. That's my advice. Leave it alone.

You did a good job talking to him about sex and std's and letting him know what the risks are of having early sex ... but i don't think you need to talk to him about masterbation. When he goes through puberty, he will get the feeling that he needs to masterbate, and he will begin too on his own, it's normal. I started too when i was 14. He'll be fine, he's a growing boy. But I commend you for letting him know what the consequences are of early sex.

Talk to him, and start by asking him if he has any questions. See if he has talked to either one of his fathers. And DON"T make a huge production if you do have to talk to him. Be casual, and not " Son, Friday after school we are going to talk masturbation." At 13 he probably knows more than you think.

I think there are some excellent books out there. Leave them in his room, and he can start reading them at his leisure. Then see if he has any questions. He might find a male easier to talk with about some things, so if there's a male family member you trust, maybe he could discuss things with that male.

well for starters... my dad never talked bout that stuff with me, and i turned out fine by finding out for myself. u should probly leave it to his dad cuz it would be kinda embarrassing, but theres a good chance he already knows about these topics without u.
