I'll go first. When I was a small kid, I would sleep in my closet. I slept in theire with my dod, hoping she would protect me from my nightmares.
There, that's the first time I have ever told anyone that. My parents never knew.
So be brave.. what is your secret?

The father of my child left when he found out I was pregnant he wanted me to have an abortion...and that was not an option for me...since then I raised him on my own he was not at the hospital when he was born etc etc...the baby is now 18 months old...he doesn't even acknowledge that the baby is his to his family or anyone else.
So now I am taking him for child support and he wants to suddenly be a family.....He said if I am not with him he will not be a father to the baby ....
So I guess what I am asking is should I go so my baby will have his father....part of me wants to tell him to get lost and the other wants us to be a family.....please I need advice...

My brother (16) has been abused for 2 years now and my father has done it. I tried telling my mother but she doesn't beliveve me. He tried to commit sucide the other day and is comming home from the hospital TODAY. I am nervous because I don't want him to go home becasue I know that he is going to get hurt again... Actually he is probably getting ready to go home now. I don't want to call the police. Should I wait until I catch my father in the act or is that to late? We have no close reliatives.

Last week, I sent my daughter to go visit with my father and step-mother for the week. My mother and stepfather had wanted to see her that weekend & I forgot to tell them until the last minute that it would not be a possibilty. My mother hit the roof. She screamed & hung up on me. My stepfather called me back to tell me what a crappy person I was for not telling them sooner. In reality, the issue is my mom does not like it when my daughter spends time with my dad. A few days later, my mother sent me an email. She told me that I was deliberately trying to hurt her & that I was a selfish person for doing it. She said that if I ever need them to help me with watching my daughter that it had to be on her terms. That I would have to call her so many days in advance & drive the 120 miles roundtrip to do it. I said to myself this is not worth the energy, so I ignored the email. My stepdad called me this morning all upset because I had not done what she said to do. How do I deal?

My husband's mother is coming to my house for Thanksgiving. I am happy and excited about it. It is just I recently found out that they will be coming over the day before. My mother in law has 9 kids and there are 7 boys. Plus i have a 3 yr old and 7 month old. To keep up with the house work and the meal would be extremely stressful. So I don't want them to come until the day of Thanksgiving. I am preparing the meal by myself which is how I prefer it. I would have just about the entire meal prepared by the time they come(on Thanksgiving). It is only an hour and a half drive. To me, it doesn't matter to them which day they come, but to me it does. With just being around all the kids raises my stress level. Plus, they are young and curious and I can't stand for anyone to be in my kitchen when I am cooking. Do you think it is rude to ask my mother in law to wait until Thanksgiving morning to come over? Do you think she will understand?

My friends said we could move in with her so we could have stuff because you know how you can't put stuff in your name when your 16. I just want to know if you can move out of you parents house at 16 even if my parents say no.

When it comes to parent/teacher conferences, doctor consultations appointments with a therapist, should the step-parent be involved? While major desicions are obviously left to the parents, I think that since a step parent is actually considered a parent that their input should be considered and important since the child has to function in that family as well....what is the opinion?

I have a younger sister, she's the sweetest, but sometimes she won't leave me alone, not even for 5 minutes. I don't wanna hurt her by telling her to give me some space once in a while. What got to me was what happened the other day. I came home from soccer practice and I wanted to take a shower. My room has an individual shower so that's cool, anyway I was naked in my room ready to go to the shower when my sister comes into my room without knocking and she had a friend with her. Of course if it was just my sister I wouldn't have minded, but what can I do to make her understand that I need privacy and time alone once in a while.

My daughter is 7y/o, and on or about Jan 2006 she has been getting in trouble at school. Every other day her school is calling, telling me that she is being written up on a referral or being suspended. They say she won't sit down when told repeatedly, she talks and yells across the class and, she won't stay on task. And even gets in trouble in the cafeteria while eating lunch.

I took her to the doctor 6 months ago and her pediatrician diagnosed her with ADHD. She was put on medication that worked fine until now. The doctor up'd her dosage yesterday and I'm scared that in 6 more months it will have to be increased again. She is not a BAD child, she just seems to not be able to control her actions. I asked my child how does she feel about this and she doesn't even understand what is going on. Sometimes she seems to zone out while I'm talking, her eyes are looking at me but her mind is gone. What can I do? Somebody help me help her, PLEASE!
