If not wearing the scarf will cause additional difficulties for your mother, would it kill you to wear one? Discuss it with your mother so that whatever decision is made, she is with you on it.

Sometimes, compromise is best. Other times you have to stand for your right to believe as you wish. Which one of the times is this?

Best Wishes,
Sue

The first way to encourage understanding is to show respect and then ask for it in return.

We are all part of an occurring global awareness regarding all of our isolated traditions and beliefs.

Older people often have nothing else to fall back on. It is what they were often taught from birth and it is hard to diminish the only foundation they stand on.

It is difficult for the youth today because all of the rules our parents and grandparents followed are clashing and it is time for us all to find the common ground.

It is also difficult for the parents and the grandparents in every environment.

Since you are half Moroccan and half Spanish, meet him halfway. I would tell him, out of respect for him,You will wear it,for him,at home, for the time he is there. If he likes the idea,Then tell him to show you,how to wear it.

That should be something you take up with your Mom, also maybe just in respect for your father and any future relationsonship you wil have with him- think about it that way.

What religion is he? It doesn't matter, it's your religion, if you don't want to wear a scarf then don't. Only wear it if you want to show reverence to God, not to pacify your Dad, or because you feel obligated.
