I have a younger sister, she's the sweetest, but sometimes she won't leave me alone, not even for 5 minutes. I don't wanna hurt her by telling her to give me some space once in a while. What got to me was what happened the other day. I came home from soccer practice and I wanted to take a shower. My room has an individual shower so that's cool, anyway I was naked in my room ready to go to the shower when my sister comes into my room without knocking and she had a friend with her. Of course if it was just my sister I wouldn't have minded, but what can I do to make her understand that I need privacy and time alone once in a while.

I have a little sister too and she walks in on me all the time. But the way I've dealt with it is to tell her that we both have things that we need. She needs to be alone sometimes and so do I. So together, we made foam door hangers for each others rooms, I made hers and she made mine. We bought the stuff at a craft store and whenever I wanted to be alone, she'd leave me alone because my door hanger said Please Go Away. And I'd leave her alone when it said Please Go Away. That way, she still feels like she's a part of it. The other thing you need to tell her is that you each get an hour of alone time a day (or however long you think you need). Then, tell her that you'll hang out with her other times. Then, set a limit. If she bugs you 10 times while you are in your alone time, or 3 times when your door hanger is on Please Go Away, she loses an hour of play time with her sister. Trust me, she might be a little upset about it at first but after those hours start going faster and faster, she'll get the picture and start to leave you alone a little more. Don't shut her out completely though.
