I feel like my mother favors my brother, but tries to compete with me . She seems to think that my brother can do no wrong.

Yet, she looks down at me because she thinks that I am not as good at household duties as her. She was not a professional and I am.

She also looks down at me because my marriage failed because my ex was controlling, money-minded and abusive. She has been married to my father for 43 years.

We have never had a close relationship and now I feel that she idolizes my brother. I don't know how to deal with it.

She does not know that my sister-in-law was forced to be nice to her. My brother said if she did not patch up with my mother, he would call it quits. That's why my sister-in-law is now being nice to her. She thinks that its genuine. I have not said anything to her.

My mother praises other families but I feel bad because of my family not being complete.

Your 15 yo kid was doing bad and dangerous stuff and you had to give a somewhat severe punishment, thinking you were doing your best. She changed her behavior, left bad companies, and today you're proud of her, An honor student, good friends, does a lot of good things, but, unfortunately, extremely resentful. Respectful, but distant, like a stranger. Avoids her parents, avoids any activity with them, unless forced. Doesn't see her parents as loving parents, says they didn't love and forgive her when she need them most, keeps dwelling on the past. And this for months and months, suggesting t'll keep going for years, years, years.. She refuses to talk, unless forced, and them just repeats the same things. A great girl, but like an statue.
How to deal with this? Can this carry on to adulthood? Should she punished? I don't think so. Should we reward her for her good actions, despite her resentful behavior? She says her resentful behavior is her undenibale right.

All of a sudden, I am being completely ignored by everyone in my family. I walk round my house trying to talk to either my mum or my brothers and they just give me dirty looks and tell me to go away. I've tried asking what I've done wrong and they just shout and swear at me. Please help me, it's really upsetting me.

I'm 14 and frankly I'm not sure what tough love means exactly. Of course, parents say tough love is something like taking harsh measures when they think it's necessary to correct their kids. But I'm not sure if tough love is something continuous or something that's used only when required, a necessary evil. To me, love does'nt need and shouldn't be given adjectives. So, I guess tough love is just an expression parents use to justify their harsh attitudes towards their kids. That's probabby what my parents did to me almost 1 year ago and that made me so resentful that since them I've avoided them and act like a stranger, though they even say I'm proud of me (except for my resentful behavior, but which is my undeniable right).
So, if in the future my parents are in need and I'm in a very good situation, it's OK I deny them any help and just say this is for their own good, because they will learn and grow up as persons from adversity. Tough love, OK?

About a month ago I had asked my mother in law if she would mind If I do Thanksgiving my mother had no problem with it but mother in law did. She said it was her favorite holiday and she wanted to do it. I said no problem I just thought it would make things a little easier so that we wouldn't have to go to her house at 12 and my moms at 5. I have no problem doing that but my mother inlaw does. She thinks you should go to one place for the holidays I have always went to 2 familys for thanksgiving and I want to keep it that way. I like to see my family every year as well as my husbands family and I am willing to do both.
My mother-in-law is being really selfish she calls last night to talk to my husband and they are discusing Thanksgiving my husband tells her that we won't be eating dinner there we will have appitizers and stay a while but we are eating at my wifes mothers because we ate last year at your house for dinner. This is the problem my mom is flexible she will do lunch or dinn

my godmother recently got married to her fiance (whom btw she met off the internet), but it all started after she got engaged. Basically, she told everyone that she got engaged on a gondala in Venice, but infact, she didn't - she got engaged on some street in Italy. Then she started bossing everyone about - being a total bridezilla. On her hen night, her friends caused trouble for my mum and they threatened her - even though my mum had organised the whole thing and the friends were actually staying at our house. My godmother believed all the nasty lies her 'friends' told her and they made stuff up about my mum and reduced my mum to tears after everything we have done for her. the wedding went along fine, but now my godmother will not spend any time with us, she didn't send a card or anything for my birthday and we haven't seen her since may on her wedding day. Is it just me or do you think my godmother has been out of order? She still hasn't apologised or anything! Please help!

I know that my mom is cheating on my dad for about 4 years now. My mom stays at home the whole day but she leaves at 5pm and comes home very late at like12am or 1am. She's been acting cold towards me, my sister, dad, and younger brothers. She doesn't really buy us what we want because she's prolly giving away our money to that ****** jerk. When my mom picks us up at school, she always brings this guy with her all the time and she would always tell us that its her former classmate back when she was still in high school and she would also tell us that he's just helping her with our business and ****. My dad found out that my mom has been cheating on him and he didn't divorce her because he didn't wanna break our family. I know that my dad has a point but I can't stand seeing my dad getting hurt all the time. The worst is, I think that my mom transfered all the titles and all our wealth to her name. It's supposed to be both right? What can I do now? I really need help guys! =(

My dad accidently through out my old computer. There was nothing wrong with it and I was gonna sell it for about £200. I pay him £30 a week because I still live at home with my dad. (Wish I didnt) Is it right of me to say I am not paying him any money for a while. Or should I accept it was an accident and forget about it?

My husband and I just moved into his parents house. This should be just a tempary "thing"... His parents are very laid back. He works nights, comes home and drinks till her falls asleep. She watches her daughters kids all day and cleans... cleans everything. She does our laundry and even folds my underwear. She cooks us dinner everynight... She never says anything negative towards me... she hardly even talks to me...

I am not sure how to act around her. I am very thankful for her hard work she does with taking care of my crap. I tell her thankyou several times a day... I just am not sure if I like her doing everything for me. My mother is very high strung, and the minipulative type...

I feel bad because she does so much. I honestly don't like spending time with her, not because I don't like her... I just have nothing in common with the women... She is kinda "the man of the house" she fixes the car, builds a spare bedroom out back, goes hunting..." I can't even make small talk..
