My husband and I have been a little stressed. We just had a baby(no sleep), His sibling is having a bit of health issues, and he's going through a custody battle from a previous relationship, and he works 14 hour days so when we see each other we argue about the smallest stupid things. What can I do to help my relationship? Pls note I'm only 2 weeks postpartum from c-section.

My mother in law is kind hearted but pigheaded and naive. Every year for Christmas she asks me what my sons would like and inveriably I say clothes. What makes me angry is that she always buys clothes 2 sizes too big "so they can fit longer" she says. I need the clothes now not in 2 years time. I've mentioned it to her but she doesn't listen. What can I do?

My boyfriend and i have been together 5 years, and we will probably get married. Both of us are over 21. His mom knows we "do it" and even used to give him protection until I got on the pill. However, when we go to visit his parents house she tries (and succeeds) every time to make us go to bed by 11 and I have to sleep upstairs in one corner of the house and him downstairs in another. He never says anything, he doesn't want to fight. I'm not going to die if I'm not sleeping with him, but that's not the point. We don't visit his parents so we can sleep together, it just seems convenient b/c there is only one extra bedroom and he ends up sleeping on a really uncomfortable couch in a room with no heat. Is this the "my house, my rules" rule? She's controlling to begin with, but I don't understand why, if she knows we "do it" and have been for 5 years (sans baby thanks to her early prevention), why can't we share a bed?

When I first had my daughter I did begin to see my parents in a new light and to appreciate them more. In many ways though I was still their child even though I had one of my own.. (although that sounds daft I hope it will become clearer!)

This last week or so I have been really a mixture of down/preoccupied with what my own folks did for me and have been remembering in great detail all the times we had when they were my age..

Anyways - it was like an awakening and now see my parents with completely new eyes and now want to look after them the way they cared for and spoiled my Granny when she was their age.. so now I no longer feel like just their child but I also feel so so motivated to do all I can for them while they are still here.. (another symptom of this whatever you call it is that I have also been really distraught at the thought of losing them both..neither is in good health..)

Anyone been there too?

My wife and I are expecting our first granchild this month but we feel too young to be called Grandma and Grandpa. Do you have any alternative suggestions (i.e. Nanny/Pop-pop)? Maybe a different language? What do you call you Grandparents? Thanks.

Recently we've been fighting like everyday or the stupidest things. For instance we are redoing my room (which is rather small) and I have all of this furniture in it which she picked out from when I was a baby. There’s not enough room for all the furniture so the only thing that can really just go into another room is this large antique (and ugly) vanity. The logical thing would be to get rid of it in order to get a much smaller desk but my mother will NOT let me put it in another room- even my father agrees with me. We got into the huge fight over it and of-course she won.

I'm trying to get over it but I just can't. It's so annoying how she wins every single argument we have with threatening to take something away. That was just an example. We fight about what she says (she doesn’t remember saying things and then contradicts herself- mental disorder perhaps? :/ ) and other things along those lines.

I guess I just have to continue doing homework on the floor...

Any advice?

I am having Thanksgiving this year at my house and making it a potluck. My mom has been difficult, she didn't like the time I made it, and doesn't like the type of turkey I am making. All she has to bring is the mashed potatoes and 2 pies. She made a comment "I am not going to do this again next year, it is such a bother" so I told her "Why wait till next year, if you are bothered, then don't do it this year". So she is mad at me, my dad said I was rude, and he said I should have sugarcoated it. She is critasizing my Thanksgiving. So, my parents aren't coming. Was I rude, and how could I have handled it better?

not mine but my big sisters ,her daughter is out of control !!!! my sister and my brother in law were in a middle of a divorse , he was cheating ,controlling and cheap monitoring every penny she spent!! for some reason everyone was on his side!! she couldn't take it anymore so she went to get away she spent a few months with distant family leaving the kids behind ,during this time thier father spoiled them rotten with psp,'s150$ allowances , staying up late ,and all the junk food they wanted. when she came back her 15 year old wouldn't even talk to her ,when she tried to punish her , but her teen went crying to daddy and he bought her back what was taken away from the punishment .she does'nt listen and always whining about wanting to live with only her father and saying she Hates her mom. this has just began , she has been a sweet kid her whole life ,but her dad turned her into a monster.
what can we do to help her?

Since my brother met this girl, he's changed. This girl is really fake. you see, she's your typical money loving sleezy hoebag. She constantly twists my words and tell my brother things completely different from what I said so he'll yell at me. She's quite obese, and I mean like 300lbs and she walks around in just short shorts and a sports bra but then tells me I have to "put clothes on" when I'm wearing regular shorts shorter than boy basketball shorts. She's always yelling at people for moving her laundry that she leaves in the washer for days or for leaving the hall light on when you step back in your room real quick. we got into an arguement last night about the laundry thing and my brother took her side and said that I am dead to him. She always leaves the sink full and her crap all over the place even though 4 other people live there. She's not on the lease and can't live there. Would I be wrong to report her after I move out?

My baby half-sister was very upset that our ex sister-in-law called her boyfriend's cell-phone looking for the father of her 3 children. The only reason my sister-in-law called the number was because I gave her the number not knowing it was my sister's boyfriends new cell phone number. The number was on my caller ID and I thought it was my brother's new number. Well anyways, my sister tells me; she doesn't like her and those kids are my family. She even called me a ***** in a passive-aggressive kind of way. Is there probably something deeper going on with her and me?
