Hey guys

I need a little help with college work about being listened to and listening to others.

A) Do you feel like when your talk (especially about important things to you) that you are being heard?

B) Who would you turn to for advice, friends, family or partner?

C) Do you listen to others when they talk? ( I need complete honesty on that one)

Thanks

My dad is great and he has helped me so much this year I really want him to know how much I appreciate him. I am looking for a more sentimental gift. My finances are pretty tight so I need something creative. I am already going to blow up a picture that he loves and put it in a frame but I need something else. I have had a tough couple of months and without him I would not have made it. He has lent me $ bought me a cheap car for my b-day cause mine broke down and paid the application fee for the plates, he has also helped my fiance to find work. He really likes creative sentimental gifts, I have made collages and things like that but I really want to do something big. Any suggetions would be great.

He denied it! so then one day my mom wanted to read her emails in yahoo! When she connected to the internet she saw that my dad forgot to 'sign out' so then she read his emails she called me I went in side the room my mom was she told me look at this! I looked & I saw my father's emails, I started to read them so we found out that my dad is cheating on my mom! but she can't divorce him because you see , my dad is from Kuwait, my mom is from Mexico & I born in California so I am living in Kuwait, the thing is my mom doesn't have enough money for: 2 tickets to use, California, a car, an a partment, food, ect.& my mom doesn't have Kuwaiti passport,he can get rid of her so easly

I find it hard to take balloons when I am with my Parents. They always give me the cold shoulder when I take a balloon. 2 days ago, I went to a carnival and a woman there gave me a pretty big balloon spider. I was rather happy to hold the balloon.

When I saw my mum and she saw me, she stared at me and for that whole day she did not talk to me. This is not the first time it happened. Quite some time ago(about a year), I went to a party and brought some balloons home. I thought of giving it to my sister but then my mum saw the balloons and forced me to burst them. I dun know whats wrong with holding balloons.

Is it the balloons or is it my mum. I am really sad about this Pls advice.

Whenever my sister in law (my husband's brother's wife) gets angry or offended about something someone else in the family says or does, she refuses to let them see her daughter until they apologise to her. It's not usually over a big issue, just over a minor disagreement or something stupid like that. I feel that this is just punishing my 4 year old niece. I think it's wrong to use your child as a bargaining chip or a trump card to win an argument, and frankly I'm shocked that my brother in law allows this behavior. What do you think?

her dad is no good for her and she knows she has to leave his house and live with her mom, however she loves her dad, no matter how much he hurts her(emotionally), and her dad has told her that she would be betraying him if she left. and she says she would feel very guilty if she left him. she doesn't want to hurt him, or feel that guilt. what can i tell her, are what can she do to reassure herself that she should move out of her dad's house, or what could she tell her VERY stubborn dad that will make him see that she needs to leave?

My husband's ex will be moving down from New York to be near us in Texas. She has four kids (three from my husband) and is on Medicaid. She will be finding a job but as a skilled worker (read waitress/gas station attendant) she doesn't make enough for all those kids. How long will she have to live in Texas before she becomes eligible for TX medicaid? Do we need to wait til she is down here to enroll the kids in school? What all do I need to enroll them? I just got married and magically found myself to be a parent... got a lot more to worry about now. Any advice and pointers would be appreciated.

my mom is a complainer with a capital C. i clean up as best i can still i hear "Why didn't you clean up over here better than this?" I tell her i dont see every "dust bunny" she does. With the laundry, if i bring 3 loads down to wash, which in our family the rule is to wash only super loads so we can get more done at a time, she complains saying, "Bring your laundry down more often." I am so trying to get a place of my own, but can't afford it unless this full-time job comes through i am hoping for. She also complains that I eat too much and is surprised I am not fat because of how much i eat. So i offered to start paying for $50 of the grocery bill. I mean, I weigh 128 pounds and am 5'5", so I know I'm not fat. Please give me some advice on how to deal with my mom's complaining until I move out.

my nephew is 7, and im 21. he was told a long time ago by his mom (my sister), that he didnt have to listen to me, even if i was telling him something for his own good. Like not running in the family room because he could fall into our brick fireplace and crack his head open. i try so hard to tell him to be careful, but he never listens. My sister finally told him he has to listen to me. Even after my sister told him he has to listen to me he still wont. i have my parents tell me a lot to "grow up and deal with it, you're 21, he's 7." any advice on how to make my nephew listen to me?
