If you go to the website b4usearch.com & click on people, enter your dad's name and town and then hit search, scroll to the bottom of the page then you may have some luck at finding an address. That way you can write a letter.
Otherwise theres normally a registry office of births, marriages and deaths in each town, contact your local council and ask. As a blood relative I'm sure you'd be allowed access to that information.
Good luck :)

Check with your local Registrar for births, deaths and marriages. If he is then there will be a death certificate for him. So sorry you had no contact - I am sure he thought of you even if you weren't in contact. You can always find out if he is still alive too through the electoral roll if he is in the same town. Hope you find out it isn't true then you can perhaps see him.

You could go to the registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages in your town or something similar and check over their records. Otherwise you could go to the library and check all the obituaries of the local papers to see if his name has come up.
Another idea would be to hire a private investigator, they have experience in finding missing people.
Good luck :)

Look for his name on line...go to the Yahoo Yellow pages first, and see if he listed his new address and phone number.
If he did not, then you can go to the town hall or police and find out.

Contact your local courthouse to see if a death certificate has been filed. This info is a matter of public record.

Call the local police to do a welfare check. They will stop by his place and see if he is OK.
