My mother-in-law is not the greatest mother. (see my other questions)

My wife (23 years old) cut her mother off for 6 months and spent that time in counseling. She did this when her mother found out we wanted to have a baby and said mean things to my wife.

The therapist said her mother was abusive and my wife was shocked to think she had been abused.

My mother-in-law has said the following:

Called my wife a *****, ungrateful, a snob, a miss-know-it-all *****.

She said my wife didn't deserve to have a mother who gave her so much.

She said my wife is spoiled and maybe she should have been beat up everyday and then she would appreciate her homelife.

She has told my wife that she is mentally ill and needs to be on medication daily.

She told my wife that she is a crap daughter.

She said she will be a bad mother and her children will be messed up.

She told her she regrets doing all the things she did for her.

Is this verbal abuse????

Especially in Asia the man has to live with his wife and his parents and there is always a fight between the mother and the wife.
Would you support your mother who with you all your years or your wife who is going to be with you for the rest of your life?

People always say family but some of my friends treat me better than my own family do. I belive that if you treat me with respect you will get it back I don't care if you are my Mom or my friend that I just met at a party. I won't stick up for my family if they are in the wrong so why do so many people do it even if the family is in the wrong?

my mama raised me on the traditions of chivalry, I was brought up to treat a woman with courtesy and respect. Also that in a real relationship looks will meen absalutly nothing, as long as you have a deep loveing connection with her, and you look into her eyes and soul and view what truely matters. A womans physical aperiance meens nothing to me, as long as she has a beautiful soul that is all I cair about. I respect my mama and how she raised me.

Have two children who do not see there dad because he is not consistent, takes drugs and was violent in our relationship. His new partner who is now apparently an ex but also has a child whom he left her with, has said that my kids should see him and i should allow it, and not make him suffer(even though he has hit, emotionally messed me up etc etc) So I need to know the definition of a good father, to reassure myself.

There was hamster food that had rotted in a kitchen cabinet. The three hamsters were in a big pile of food on the floor. The kitten was in a sink of running water. I was in my childhood home with my sister. My sister and I were not getting along. But the animals stood out over the anger between us.

My aunt moved to Kansas over a year after she put me me out of the house. Not only did she put me out, but she lied about it! My grandma was in for a surprise when we showed up on her door step.
My aunt just left me and some of my belongings on the porch and drove off. Her and my grandma don't get along, so she had nothing to say to her. Then my aunt starts writing letters saying we need to talk, inviting me to Thanksgiving dinner etc. What I want to know is do you think her behavior was justified? explain.

My wife is 23, she is the only daughter.

My wife moved out at 18, paid for her college degree with her own money, married me at 21 and we even bought a house on our own.

She has an awesome career now and we are very happily married.

Her mother isn’t happy with any of her achievements.

I like my mother-in-law and she treats me great, but I don’t understand why she treats my wife like she does.

Nothing my wife does makes her mom happy, and she was a good kid, never slept around, did drugs or drank.

When we got engaged my wife didn’t tell her mother for 3 months because her mother wouldn’t ruin it.

And she did ruin it by never congratulating us and not helping her only daughter with wedding plans.

My wife and I are trying for our first baby soon and her mother has made comments about my wife being a bad mother.

My wife said she doesn’t want her mother to know she is pregnant until she is at least 4-5 months along.

Why can’t her mother just be happy for her???

If I am good at managing my money, I save most of it for important engagements: School, lunch and personal holidays, and my parents know this. Is it right for them get angry when I spend it on fun things such as hanging out with my friends or going to the mall? P.S I also purchase my own school clothes and school materials.

Why are parents always passing the buck. Example: "I don't know ask your Mother or ask your Father." And what happens If you ask your Mother something and she sends you to Pop, and he sends you back to your Ma?

My mother has 4 children ages: 27, 24 (me), 13 and 9.

My mother is 46 years old and has no grandchildren.

I have been married for two years (together for 5) and my husband and I are trying for our first baby.

I mentioned to my mother recently that we wanted to have a baby soon.

She said I should wait until I am 30 until I have my first child.

She said if I waited then my little brothers would be 19 and 15 and she could focus more on being a grandma.

How selfish is her excuse?!

Why should I wait to have children when she decided to have more kids in her mid-late 30’s?

She can still be a grandma and be a mother to teen boys!

My step-dad (raised me) said he would be happy to be a grandpa, and he is only 43!

What do you think about my mother’s excuse for not wanting grandchildren now?

If you could do it all over again would you have your kids? I am considering having a baby and really need honest answers. I don't judge or anything. My own dad said "It was harder than we thought." So do you regret it??

My bro is going through a rut that has been for about a year now... ive got him 2 job interviews and each time he messes them. Hes living at home and wont make any effort nor contribution... sleeps till 7pm at night and spends all his time and little money he has on online poker. My parents are at their wits end and dont know what to do as hes too arrogant to even talk and as far as he is concerned he is in the right and every one else is wrong. Weve thought about counselling but doesnt he need to accept he has a problem first? Whenever I try to talk to him he just sneers and tells me where to go. He is wasting his life and at 25 years old he should be going somewhere... any advice would be appreciated. Thanx

I've had no contact with my father for the past two years as I have feared for my life. I've never taken any legal action against him, but now I've been warned that his behavior is becoming more and more erratic. I'm scared to wait until he tries to come to my house or something to protect myself, but it seems that legally there must be a verifiable issue before you can do anything. Help!
