I've had no contact with my father for the past two years as I have feared for my life. I've never taken any legal action against him, but now I've been warned that his behavior is becoming more and more erratic. I'm scared to wait until he tries to come to my house or something to protect myself, but it seems that legally there must be a verifiable issue before you can do anything. Help!

I am very aware of what he's capable of, however my family is very private and nothing was ever brought to light. He's a minister of a church now. Anyway the person who contacted me about his strange behavior is a girl my exact age who is similar to me in appearance. She told me that he was stalking her and insisting that he be her father. This scared me to death. I really feel sorry for her

The one thing I would do soon is to let your local police dept. know of your fears. It's a shame that you have to be battered and beaten for the laws to protect you, but on the other hand if physicality wasn't and issue, we'd have people taking out restraining orders on people just for looking at them. Start a paper trail, record each time he tries to see you or contact you. Bug the police dept. if you are afraid of him. Good luck, and be safe. Also let someone else know about your fears.

yes, something has got to happen before you are granted or can even request a restraining order. So you have got to protect yourself as if you know that a theft is coming to your house...take all necessary precautions.
Also, a restraining order for some people is nothing but a piece of paper, you will still have to know how to protect yourself with or without it.

i've got in no way had nor have I ever filed a restraining order, yet i be attentive to off people who've and it has no longer secure them the two. in my opinion if we had the police guy means to beable to enforce those orders we'd be secure regrettably it comes all the way down to funds and factors! i might wish that the minority of human beings submitting those orders out of jealously, spitefulness, or making use of the equipment for his or her very own very own benefit, isn't explanation why they do no longer look to be enforced. added: For some governments that is extra import to construct a spaceship deliver it in to area to drop off a satelite than that is to drop a policeman off at someones door step to make effective they nonetheless alive...(foodstuff for theory!)

you should really talk to the police about such matters. the are very serious and shouldn't be taken lightly. you also shouldn't go on the words of a stranger. try talking to a pastor, legal counsel,or try to have him hospitalized if he is mentally ill.

It can be done if you state your case and use proof to back it up. Did a relative tell you he said he's coming to get you?

The police need to have a reason, not just your suspicions.
