Well I don't need a website to answer that so if this is for a report might want to do some research. Costs are HUGE, rewards depend on the person I suppose. Not everyone is born with the mommy gene.
Personal Costs -- You give up ALL rights to be an individual for at least 18-years, all personal freedom, and can no longer put your desires first and foremost. You cannot go out when you want, watch what you want on TV, read a book, or even go to the bathroom without little fingers under the door. You are no longer Jane Doe, you are Jonny's mommy and that is how basically everyone you know will identify you, you will soon forget you even have a name (or maybe that's just caused by the sleep deprivation and hearing loss from screaming babies). Friends without kids will all leave, and any relationship (even with the child's father) will be hugely strained. Daddy gets used to coming first and some guys have a problem with suddenly taking a back seat. Like clothes?? Forget about buying any for yourself for at least 10-years, if you can even find any that fit on a mommy's diet. Know how to recognize a parent...they always say potty instead of bathroom.
Economic -- HUGE. Children are very very very expensive. At least 50% of your income will go towards the child. Most people aren't going to want a roommate with kid attached, so your rent & utilities are higher than if single (most guys don't want a girl with kids attached either). If you are a single parent that has to work, child care is $154 to $300 per week per child (or more depending on your state). Then there are the extra clothes, toys, furnishings, cleaning products, bath products, and food. And very expensive diapers for at least 2-years and they use A LOT of them. As they get older, there are school expenses, fees for dance classes & sports, and eventually designer clothes & cars...not to even get into the college fund savings needed.
Want to have a kid? You had better be personally, mentally, and financially sound first. Plan on giving up a lot for many years and at least $15-20K per year extra.
