Family - July 2006

their father was abusive to them when we all lived together. They hate going there, but the court decreed that they must. What should I do? Should I make them go? Other than alot of yelling, they tell me he is no longer abusive.

other than help build her self esteem and telling her to ignore them how do I handle a situation where my 8 year old daughter feels as though other girls are talking about her behind her back? ( or behind their hands as they are looking at her)
Do I approach their teacher and ask her to let them know that they are not being discreet and that their actions are affecting others?
These girls are also on her netball team and seem to only throw the ball at each other even though my daughter (and others) are in the best position.
Any advice from other parents who have gone through the same thing?

I'm 8 months pregnant but have just split up from my partner. I think he may have been seeing others as he does not spend much time with me. He always said he loved me etc and i really thought he did. But now he says he doesn't want to be a father and his phones always swicthed off. I think I should have seen the signs a long time ago and now I feel silly in front of my family. I feel used. I don't think I want him involved at all or want his money so, do you think I should up sticks and move?

He comes over and hangs out with my son who just graduated from high school and when he gets here the phone starts ringin. She will not leave him alone. He has diabetes since 5 yrs old and she thinks he is disabled. She calls if he is here 2-3 times and wakes me up at midnite to see if he is here. He has never worked because she drives his employers crazy by checking up on him and interfering with his job. She took him out of school when he was about 9 yrs old and "home schooled" him. He has never had a formal education. He probably made it thru the 5th grade max. They are so socially disfunctional, I hate to turn my back him. I think I am his only chance. He is so used to being under her thumb, he cannot function in society. Any suggestions.

Me and my younger sister arent very close, bu today when we went to the town withe my other sister she totally blanked me her face dropped when she saw me and looked the other way the whole time we were walking to the cafe, when we got to the cafe she wouldnt sit next to us she sat on the table behind with her back to us.
she is 22 and i am 27, many times things have got back to me what she has said about me but i have kept silent.
Although i am not hurt i felt like i should have said something today. We are just chalk and cheese but she has no problem with saying she hates me. She does have a lot of arguments with other members of the family. When i had my first child i had post-natal depression and she went round telling people i was just miserable and now my daughter is autistic she says that she is glad my daughter has asd cause that means no-one else in the immediate family can have a child with asd.
I fear if i have it out it will get out of hand.

My husband got injured in Iraq and I called my mother right away and let her know. She said she would call me back that night, and I was of course very very upset on the phone. I never got a call back and a week later I called them. My dad answered and we as usual had nothing to talk about. So I asked him if there was anything he wanted to talk about and he said no, he was watching tv and to let him go. My mother had told him what happened to my husband and they claim to love him like a son. I got mad because he didn't call once in 3 weeks to check on him. He got mad at me and cussed me out because he says I should have called and that he should not be expected to call and check on someone if he is told they are ok (as in, not dead). I told him I think that you should call someone, or at least ASK ABOUT THEM when you know they are hurt, even if you know they are alive. He had the opportunity to ask how he was doing but found TV more important. Who do you think is right?

I live with both my parents and a little brother...My mom goes to work full time and my dad is currently going to college. My dad is a big man and was even bigger a few months ago. He had a gastric bypass surgery and now hes losing weight fast. My dad is the quick temper kind of person whos always speaking whats on his mind. Im only 16 yrs old and I know I need to listen to my parents but sometimes my dad gets a little out of hand. He yells and cusses alot and is constantly disrespecting everyone in the house. I have a tendency to speak back to him. No cussin or anything but sometimes he hurts my feelings so I say things to hurt his. But he usually flips out whenever I say something back. I get a whack sometimes but most the time he grounds me. I do love my dad alot and I know he loves me but he didnt grow up with sucha nice family.I dont think he really knows any better. Everyone just tells me to be quiet, but thats just makes me feel worse.How should I react in a situation like this

My dad withdrew $600 from my savings account while I was stationed overseas, without asking me. He told me about it when I got back and mentioned that account. He was able to do this because this was an account that was opened when I was 15 and he had to be on the account as I was not 18. My mother doesn't know about this money and he said he would pay me back for it but I haven't heard a word back. I think he blew it gambling, because if he had used it for anything sensible, like bills or gifts, my mother would have noticed and wondered where the money came from. I could really use $600 to catch up on some stuff and lower out money output each month, but I don't know how to ask for it back. He asked me not to tell my mother, and if I did, I would get it back right away, but he would never forgive me because he would be in a world of crap because she would think he blew it as well. I don't need it badly enough to get him mad at me for who knows how long. What should I do?

It's the strangest thing! This was never a problem on the other two deployments, but when he calls my mind goes blank. In letters i can ramble on about all sorts of things but when he calls it's just silence! Any advice on how to snap out of this would be helpful.

I know my real father's name and have a rough idea of where he lived at the time just prior to my birth. That is the ONLY information I have. I have searched school yearbooks on classmates.com for everything and every school in the surrounding and local area up to 5 years before and after when he should have graduated and can find nothing though my mom showed me the yearbook pic when I was 13 so I know it exists. Still, I have nothing to go on except the above mentioned info. Any ideas on where to begin??? Any help would be most greatly appreciated!!!! His name is terry Dean Johnson, formerly of the Harrison county, Ohio area. More specifically, my family lived in Scio, Ohio and he lived around the Tappan Lake area just outside of Scio, between there and cadiz, Ohio.
