You have nothing to worry about. Your 13 yr old is old enough to babysit if need be. I work at a daycare and have seen children who are not ready to be alone by themselves. You as their parent know the maturity level of your children. If you trust them alone, there is nothing the police can do about it.

Not sure if it depends on location. For my location it's 13 yr old.
But I dont believe it's a matter of age, but maturity.
I have a granddaughter who is 10 going on 21.
And another who's 16, going on 9.
So what does age mean???

I found a website where the American Red Cross offers babysitting classes for 11-15 year olds. If they're old enough to look after young children, I would think that they would be old enough to look after themselves. It really depends on their maturity level and if you feel comfortable leaving them by themselves.

make sure the kids are able to contact you at all times(work phone or cell phone) Give them a list of emergency numbers (fire, police) and see if you cant have a neighbor be available in case of a super serious emergency. As far as the ages go you should be ok

depending on the mental maturity of the children you can leave the oldest to (baby-sit) the younger one

I would check with your local child services dept. They may have some resources that can help. Or maybe you could enroll them in your local boys and girls club.
