Why is it that parents can't excercise enough respect and discretion for their children?

I mean why do parents smoke and do drugs in front of their kids? and why do some parents curse their kids out and at them like they are grown ups?

Unfortunately, there are sick people like that. I suppose they may feel because they provide for their child(ren) they can do anything they want. These people need major prayer. It's a privilege to have children. No it's not easy to raise them, but as parents we need to set an example. Also keep in mind they may have experienced the same abuse when they were growing up. Parents don't come with hand books for children. It's up to them to make the conscience effort not to repeat the behavior they may have been raised in.

It is the drugs that is doing the talking, not the parents. And I'm not making any excuses for them either. It is sad that the parents are letting the drugs control their lives instead of controlling their own lives. If the child is young enough, that parent/parents can get into serious trouble for doing the drugs in front of that child. If the child does not want to be around it, they need to go out side and away from it, go to another room in the house, or go to a friend or relatives house so they don't have to be around it. Mom and dad do need to GROW UP and get help!!!!

parents should not do drugs in front of their children thoes parents are not fit to have children smoking is bad but sometimes they need a smoke parents should not curse their kids its rude and disgusting to listen to not all parents act like that

They are setting bad examples. Respect must be earned. However, children must repect their parents because their parents support them, educate them and take care of their needs.

B/c nowadays kids are having kids, since they are kids themselves they don't know how to treat THEIR kids.

Maybe that is how they were raised. They don't know any different. That is very sad.
