Children aspire to become what their parents are. And that's precisely why it's critical to be the kind of parents we want to be."
I think this is so true, but maybe you have other experiences to share ?? I'd love to hear them I am a recently retired elem teacher and I like to hear the parents side

Out of all the bad experiences I've had, being abused throughout my childhood has had the most unimaginable damaging effects on me. I have an older partner and sometimes I lash out at him and mentally push him away. Have any of you had any experiences like this and how did you get over it? My confidence is so, so low and I don't know how to improve it.

My husband left me in June 07, told me he didn't love me anymore. Found out 2 weeks later he had been cheating on me with a lady at work since Jan. 07. Of course he denied it, (I don't know if she knew that). He was becoming very materialistic, thinking everything was going to be greener on the other side I suppose. He works at a college dental school, and yes the other woman was a 2 year resident (dentist). Prior to me knowing about this woman he would stay gone after work, wouldn't call, would just come home when he was ready... told me he wasn't cheating, I needed to have trust, he was only out drinking with the guys because this was something he didn't do when he was in his 20's, now he is in his 30's. Well.... I met this guy in August, went ahead & went to dinner with him (felt guilty) didn't know if it was proper. My divorce should be final Oct. 30th. Is it wrong for me to go on with my life without my divorce being final? Two wrongs don't make it right. This guy is wonderful.

try and make a long story short. moved closer to my mom in december due to her health. well, just recently her health has taken a turn for the worse.

here's the situation. i'm starting to feel like i have to choose between my husband or my mom. in my heart i feel like i need to do all i can do to help my mom. i honestly believe that... she took care of me when i was growing up, til i left home. now, i feel like it's my turn to do all i can do to help take care of her. my husband is not very helpful/thoughtful in this situation. he wants me to spend more time with him instead of caring for my mom all the time (cause i haven't been giving him the attention that he feels he needs). i feel like its goin to cost me my marriage. which i told him that he's being selfish. he has NO relationship with his mom, so he doesn't understand.

i know what my heart is telling me to do, i just wanted to get advice on what others are thinking

My family loves my brother more than me.No,I'm not being a 10 year old or any emo teenager. It's a fact. And I accept the way it is.The problem is,I just can't really open up to anyone anymore.I just can't,knowing that the sooner any friends of mine or whoever it is gets to know my brother,I would be the one getting left beside.I don't talk with any of my family members, when they're trying to be sweet and stuff,I just reject them, same with other potential friends. And to make things worst, the only person whom I think truly cared for me is not here anymore. She left, for something better I think. And my parents, they have their own problems(please kindly rule them out from any solutions).I'm going to college next year at 16 and any person with a brain will know that it's not a good idea, but it's the only way I get away from everything...and I'm not ready yet.(please also rule my brother out as a solution). He yells at my mother. When his friends are around,he act like a saint to her.

I am 18 and i do not think i am bad looking but i dont think i am beautiful either. The problem is guys see me more as a friend then anything. I hunt, fish, play football with the guys, hike, watch football, i love carpentry, id rather have a beer then wine or some shallow drink... i basically do all the guy stuff. So i am a good friend but they know they have someone who can understand them also. But they dont seem to see me as more then "one of the guys". What can i do? I dont want to change myself tho. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi! I tutor an older adolescent who is fighting with her parents about safe dating. Please help with these questions:

Is it reasonable or an un-necessary hassle to expect her to tell her parents information about men she is with? (Full name, phone number, maybe address or license plate number.)?

If she is a really good judge of character, how long must she know a man before getting into his car? (She reports that she can tell if she spends about two hours with him at a party or something.)

Is it reasonable to have a rule about dating older men? (Her parents were upset about a 33-yr-old, but she feels that she was mature enough to have good conversations with him.)

What rules and guidelines should a young woman set for herself regarding men?

Thank you for your help!

My previous question, about leaving my husband recieving extremely helpfull advice, Thank you to all who answered. But now I realize how much of my situation is my fault. I don't know if i've ever been so affriad of waking up in my life...Okay here it goes.

I've been on one drug or another since i was 8 years old. My parents divroced when I was ten and I had no rules or consequences. At twelve I was admitted into the hospital for swallowing an entire bottle of exedrine. I needed to feel I had controll of something so I wouldn't eat. At 78 pounds when they shoved a feeding tube up my nose, I continued to be a pain for everyone for a month when I was released. My mom she sent me to Idaho with my best friends family(We we unseperable since before we can remember). This family was 6 boys and 1 girl, so naturally growing up was a fight. I snuck down from the attic into a room where her brother and his friend were. I was messing around with her brother like many times before.

so this roommate is probably in love with me. not only that, shes crazy. in addition, she asks for rides. in addition to that, shes kicking the other roommate out, for reasons undisclosed. so if i say hey crazy *****, i don't want you, to give you a ride, i just want to do my thing and pay rent, she'll probably kick me out. is it time to start looking for a new room/rental?

I've been seeing my partner now for nearly 11 months. We usually spend about 4 nights a week together. I love him with all my heart. Only now, suddenly, out of nowehere he has ignored me all weekend and says he needs space as he is stressed. He has insomnia and I know he's really stressed at work at the moment but I've always tried to help him through that.
I would be devestated if we broke up and he's on my mind 24/7, what do i do??

Would you say the spark / fizz have gone out of your relationship? Do you think its worth trying to stay together? My mum and dad argues regularly, but they've been together 37 years. Is it worth sticking with someone in a rotten relationship where only one is prepared to try? When do i give up?

My live-in boyfriend has 3 girls that he has joint custody of. (Ages 14, 13 and 10). The problem is he think he has to buy their love. Their mom is always talking bad about him and us to the girls. He has always paid his child support on time and puts out large amounts of money to them above that , he goes above and beyound what is expected as an ex-husband. He gives into their every whim because he doesn't want them to "hate" him. I tried to show him that they do love him that they are taking advantage of him. He agrees that they are. But I think he thinks that the more he buys for them and the more he caters to them that things will get better, he doesn't see that what he is doing is only going to make things much worse. Any advice on what I can do to help him or makes things easier for him. It is tearing him apart and I know that eventually it will tear us apart also. Thanks for all your advice.

ok ppl, this to me is major. i have been betrayed not once but twice in a week by two friends. the first one i'm guna let slide cause she didn't mean to hurt my feelings.

but this second one, i took him to see the holloways in birmingham, everythings goin fine, until a lil teenie bopper gets knocked over, so i pull her up off the floor before she gets trampled. she stays with us cause she's lost her mates. she clearly took a liking to my "friend" cause the next thing i know they're snogging! the lad i took with me knew what i had in mind and i was planning on askin him out at the end of the night.

so he knows that, and he goes and snogs this lil 15 year old girl. right in front of me, i couldnt believe my eyes i swear to god.

so any revenge ideas? thx.
